Eliminate plastic bag polutionBillions of plastic grocery bags are thrown away every day. Many end up in the oceans. Using the system of many European countries which is to charge 50 cents to a dollar for every bag would cause people to reuse their bags or get their own fabric bags, thus eliminating a huge percentage of this waste.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Plaisted

Preserve the Beauty + Spirit of Hanalei. Stop the development of Hotel and Luxury Villas on Hanal...SAVE HANALEI RIDGE... The green ridge overlooking the Hanalei River and Hanalei Bay is threatened by a luxury development that would perch 25 resort mansions over the river, directly across from Black Pot Park and the canoe clubs. Hawaii billionaire developer Pierre Omidyar’s proposal to transform the bluffs above the Hanalei River into a haven of exclusive luxury vacation properties would fundamentally alter the scenic, environmental and cultural qualities that have made Hanalei Bay unique and iconic in all of Hawaii. The project’s site plans show 34 CPR mansions plus 86 luxury resort cottages, with 25 of the mansions lining the length of the ridge, looming over Kaua`i’s children as they paddle and play in the river. Hanalei’s new view from the bay would be a wall of development that would extend from the Princeville Hotel into Hanalei valley. In addition to scarring the hillside, the lights of this sprawling luxury complex would beam down on the river and Black Pot Park, destroying the dark serenity of the ridge and Hanalei’s Black Pot, Pavilion and Wai`oli beach parks. The nighttime glow would also divert Kaua`i’s native seabirds, which already die in large numbers at Princeville resorts. For months, Omidyar's “Ohana Hanalei” development company has been carefully marketing its project to a small, hand-picked group of people in an attempt to buy support for the project. “This lobbying effort is steamrolling behind our backs,” one Hanalei Valley resident said. In response, the Hanalei Bay Coalition was formed to protect Kauakahiunu - the Hawaiian name for the site - before the massive mansion/hotel development goes any farther. In March the Coalition, which is composed of concerned Kaua`i groups and individuals, respectfully contacted Omidyar to ask for his help to protect Hanalei Bay. Although he lives nearby in Honolulu, his staff rebuffed the community’s offer to meet with him. Instead, the residents were shunted off to his development company - the very group that is working day and night to replace the green hillside with a long parade of McMansions from the river mouth all the way to above Kellett's Landing. Can we count on this development company to do the right thing? It does not seem likely. The development company has already shown bad faith by blocking for more than four years—with locked gates and security guards—the public shoreline access easement that was deeded to the County years ago. The Coalition asked Mr. Omidyar in March to remove the locked gate that leads to the public access. Nothing happened. Indeed, two months later, the company called the police to eject one fisherman trying to use the deeded public access that has been part of the property since the 1980s. It is only because the community and brave individuals have once again been forced to conduct the research and fight for their rights that the gate was open and the guards gone on Father’s Day. We hope they stay that way. Mr. Omidyar has a right to use his property, just like anyone else, subject to the rules. He doesn't get to bulldoze luxury houselots into a scenic historic hillside any more than anyone else does. Our community's watershed plan, the North Shore Development Plan and the state's Special Management Area policies all call for the protection of our viewplanes. Those pristine viewplanes are a crucial part of the low-key, traditional and natural feeling of Hanalei and Hanalei Bay. They are an essential part of what makes this place special for both residents and visitors. But beyond whatever rights he might have, Mr. Omidyar also has an important responsibility. He has the unique personal ability to either protect or destroy the qualities of one of the most sacred places in Hawaii. The appropriate action for Omidyar’s development company would be to shift all development on this large piece of property back and away from the edge, to preserve Kauakahiunu Ridge, save the viewplane, and protect the seabirds. If Mr. Omidyar wants this community's support, he must do the right thing. If not, then Kaua`i must just say no to Mr. Omidyar. --Hanalei Bay Coalition The Hanalei Bay Coalition is dedicated to the preservation of the scenic, cultural and environmental qualities of Hanalei Bay’s waters and lands. GET RID OF THE NATIONAL DEBT, PRINT OUR OWN MONEY!Our National Debt is a scam! In 1913 the privately held 'Federal Reserve' coerced the right to print our nation's money and lend it to us, putting us further and further into debt every single day, charging us interest on money they print OUT OF THIN AIR! How did that happen? Watch this video, if you want to know the facts, the history and whole truth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swkq2E8mswI You will understand how a small group of private banksters have collaborated to enslave the American people, over and over again, with phony money and phony debt manufactured OUT OF THIN AIR. Tell Congress WE DON'T OWE THIS PHONY DEBT! WE HAVE THE SOVEREIGN RIGHT TO PRINT OUR OWN MONEY and it is THEIR DUTY TO BEGIN PRINTING IT IMMEDIATELY! The President has executive power to enact this, and Congress is empowered by Article 1, Section 8, of the United States Constitution to produce debt-free United States Notes at any time, for any reason, and actually DID create them under President Lincoln (the original "Greenbacks"), when New York City banks wanted 24-36% interest. TELL THE FEDERAL RESERVE THE PARTY'S OVER! We're not taking anymore of their phony bills and we're not paying them their phony debt. Tell Congress to honor the debt we owe those nations and individuals who have invested in our bonds, but we will NO LONGER BE ENSLAVED to a group of banksters known as the Federal Reserve and we WILL NOT PAY THEM THEIR PHONY DEBT. We will not enslave our children and our chidren's children to their phony debt! Tell Congress to STAND UP FOR OUR SOVEREIGN RIGHT and PRINT OWN OUR DEBT FREE MONEY NOW!2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Faith Rose

Every State needs a State BankThe sparsely populated state of North Dakota has had a very successful State-owned bank for decades. Their loans are made to small companies and individuals in the state. Their profits by lending out money stay in the state. I'd like to see all 50 states give it a try. The too-big-to-fail banks, incorporated in Delaware or Nevada, might actually fail to keep their strangle-hold on the American people.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joe Dubaniewicz

Student Borrowers Against Borrower BailoutsWe have borrowed money against our fellow citizens to pay for education, and now we wish to honor our promises to repay our debts. College educations increase graduates' lifetime incomes significantly. We have benefitted from our loans we want to repay them as promised. Our nation is already in debt and does not need to offer handouts to the well educated, nor should it encourage people to expect forgiveness for uncomfortable obligations.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by j

Thank Chief Justice John Roberts for restoring confidence in the Supreme CourtChief Justice John Roberts put aside his own personal values to issue his opinion on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. By doing so, he restored some confidence in the Supreme Court's ability to act with impartiality. Thank Chief Justice Roberts for standing up for the constitution despite knowing he would face much anger for doing so.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marion Erickson

Discrimination for Manufactured Home OwnersHome owners of Manufactured Homes cannot finance or re-finance their homes. This is discrimination against over 20 million people in the USA. Manufactured homes are on a foundation, just like stick homes throughout America. Yet, the banks and lending institutions will not help us. This is discrimination!13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Creager

Re-Open the Job Market=Force Banks to Really Modify Home LoansThere are some home owners who have been trying to get loan modifications for the last five to seven years. The Banks need to clean the slate, really reduce interest rates, reduce the debt on the home to accommodate the current owner, especially when the banks are willing to sell it at a loss. They are turning us into a nation of renters owned by a few. Landlords do not spend money on improvements and upgrades, homeowners do thus demand for landscaping, painting, siding, garden supplies, add-ones, hot tubs, upgrades, appliances, garage doors with openers, and pride of ownership. These are real jobs that pay with real money.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Shirley Shepard
