Summit Hill 161 School Board: Do Not Close Our SchoolsThe Summit Hill 161 School Board is getting ready to vote on the possibility of closing 1 or 2 of our elementary schools for the 2012-2013 school year. We are asking that the board not act in haste in making this decision and to instead take the time to fully research all that goes into this complex process to ensure it is the best option for our students and our community.425 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Wendy Gonzales

Deaf Civil RightsThis petition is designed to express the concerns of Deaf persons in the Deaf community. What is of major concern is the way we have been treated by the majority in society. Specifically, there has been little - if any - input sought from Deaf persons concerning the use of cochlear implants. These devices have been used without the input of persons who are Deaf or who have an interest in the Deaf community. As a result, the rights of persons who are deaf have been infringed upon by the actions stemming from the prejudice and unverified assumptions of the cochlear implant industry. This is a violation of civil rights in the medical and/or surgical implementation of unfounded procedures. We need to stop implanting any children or Deaf children; that's what the whole issue is about. If you share this concern please sign below. Any comments are welcomed with no neutral comments, please. Deaf persons - especially Deaf children need to have their civil rights respected. The infringement of the rights of Deaf persons - especially Deaf children needs to stop. This includes a full recognizing the use of the use of American Sign Language or their language. It will go to Deaf Civil Right March for them to see how many Deaf persons sign it up for this petition; that might help, too. TIME FOR US TO HAVE OUR DEAF CIVIL RIGHTS and DEAF HUMAN RIGHTS for Deaf Diversity of all ages!!!!!1,587 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Diane White

Evict Monsanto from TexasMonsanto has proven itself a danger to human and non-human communities. Through the production of toxins, carcinogens, and genetically modified organisms, Monsanto has by its actions loudly stated that they value the accumulation of money more than they value clean air, water, and soil, and they value the accumulation of money more than they value healthy communities of humans and non-humans. Further, their campaigns of dishonesty concerning the safety of their products, their campaigns of legal warfare against small scale farmers, scientists, and journalists, their campaigns of corruption against democratic governments, and their campaigns of horrendous worker treatment in foreign countries demonstrate beyond any reasonable doubt that Monsanto's continued existence presents a clear an present danger not only to the foundations of life, but to human systems of government and justice.1,673 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by John Duffy

Legalize MarijuanaMarijuana is the largest cash crop in this and other countries. None of the money is taxed, but if it were it could pay substantially toward the national debt. The billion dollar Drug War violates the 4th amendment of the Bill of Rights. The government has lied about its medical use for nearly 100 years, and they did this with taxpayer money.51 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jean Millay, PhD

BullyingBullying is horrible and causes a handful of suicides each year. One example is teasing/bullying emos. No matter what, it hurts people mentally and physically. No one deserves to be treated like that!14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Andrea

Congress: Save Our Lives: Fix Our Student Loan DebtIn 2005 (the Bush era), Congress extended the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act to include all "qualified education loans", to be nondischargeable in bankruptcy proceedings. Prior to this, only nonprofit lenders' loans were nondischargeable. We're calling on Congress to repeal this law, saving future generations of Americans, their debt crisis, and contribute to American prosperity.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brett Bauman
