It is in our agreement that Ron Paul is the only valuable candidate to our country in the presidential race and the only candidate that upholds the US Constitution. We want our politicians to seriously take a stand for liberty, end all these foreign wars that cost us lives and money and cut our national debt substantially with real plans. A cell phone tower has been proposed for Brockway Mountain in Copper Harbor, Michigan. While we recognize the need to provide cell coverage to Michigan's northernmost community, particularly for emergency services, we believe that the proposed tower site and height of the tower should be reconsidered. In addition to being one of the most scenic locations in the Midwest--if not country--and a tourist destination to travelers of all ages and backgrounds, Brockway Mountain is the final stopping point for 14,000 raptors of 17 species, including bald eagles, golden eagles, and peregrine falcons, before traversing Lake Superior during their springtime migration. The peak of the proposed tower would loom nearly 750 feet above Lake Superior, 220 feet above the mountaintop. Instead of the familiar ridge line along the southern edge of the mountain, motorists traveling north on US-41 would be greeted by the tower's massive self-supporting prominence and flashing beacons. We agree with county officials, residents, and visitors that public safety should be priority number one. We submit, however, that emergency services and cell coverage in general can be provided to Copper Harbor and the surrounding area in a less invasive manner--to humans and wildlife alike--through a number of shorter towers located on nearby and less culturally significant hilltops and/or by other means. We ask that the proposed Brockway tower be relocated and height of the proposed tower be reconsidered before one of Michigan's great natural landmarks is compromised. Don't settle for the cheapest, easiest cell company offer. Please protect our treasure.

The City of Austin is currently debating a proposed ordinance that would tax and ban all so-called “single use” plastic and paper bags at retail checkouts. Please sign below to tell Mayor Leffingwell and City Council Members that taxing and banning bags is the wrong choice for you, your family and for Austin. Tell city leaders to preserve consumer choice and emphasize reducing, reusing and recycling.

The Tuff Kidz Youth Wrestling Club has been removed from all BPUSD facilities. This decision by Superintendent Mark Skrvana will cut financial support to Sierra Vista H.S. wrestling program and eliminate a youth organization from the City of Baldwin Park. Mr. Skarvana made this decision and refuses to discuss the matter with any Tuff Kidz leadership. We are calling on him to address this matter to discuss reinstatement of the facilities use permit.

Politician commercials that focus on negativity are excessive as elections get closer and are created to be dramatic and misleading, rather than accurately inform about a candidate. The trend of increasing ads has also created the necessity to have millions of dollars to run for office and discredit an opponent, allowing only wealthy candidates to have a chance of winning.

A Lincoln, Nebraska family is about to lose their home because the wife and mother in the family has cancer, and they no longer have the ability to make the payments on their sub-prime adjustable rate mortgage. The mortgage company will not work with them to help them keep their home. This is a time to negotiate--not foreclose.

It is time for New Mexico to take its money out of Wells Fargo and deposit it with our local community banks and credit unions: the institutions that support our local economies statewide. We can make a big difference in our local economy by keeping our money in New Mexico for the benefit of New Mexico's small businesses. It is time to stop sending our state's money to Wall Street and overseas; keeping it in New Mexico is the right thing to do.

It has been announced that President Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention will be given at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Considering the image of Wall Street, and B of A in particular, as the criminals who got us into this economic mess, we insist that this venue is inappropriate and should be changed.
