• Hats in school
Some people don't have time in the morning to do their hair, or some people just don't have hair and want to cover it up. The reason hats aren't allowed is due to common etiquette from the 20's. Times have changed, and hopefully this petition will make changes.

  • United Methodist Church: Stop Discriminating Against LGBTQ People
We opposed this discrimination as members of the United Church of Christ in the early 1970s. I grew up in the Methodist Church, and I find it hard to believe that this issue is still contentious in this sister Protestant denomination nearly 50 years later.

  • Walkout on March 14th: Not One More
On March 14th, 2018, over 300 students at Branham High School walked out of their second-period classes, participating in a nationwide movement to combat gun violence. The effect was dizzyingly powerful. Students of all genders, ethnicities, grades, and political ideologies stood together as one, silent, but radiating unity. Exactly a month earlier, 17 students and staff members were shot down at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day. The events that came afterward- a coalition of Floridian teenagers generating a movement to end gun violence around the country- reverberated thousands of miles and shook the foundation our own high school campus. Later that month, in the largest student-organized protest since the Vietnam War, the March For Our Lives made history. But we aren’t done yet. While great strides have been made to combat this epidemic, there’s still so much more that needs to be done. Already in 2019, 27 mass shootings have ripped apart families and communities, and 1,232 people as of February 2nd have lost their lives to gun violence (gunviolencearchive.org). We are plagued by the fact that in America, 342 people are shot in murders, suicides and suicide attempts, unintentional shootings, and police interventions every day (bradycampaign.org). Our government, both locally and nationally, has done some work to battle this. But it isn’t enough, which is why we are hosting the second annual Branham Walkout on March 14, 2019. We would like to emphasize that this walkout is not against Branham administration. What the kids in Parkland started was a truly extraordinary movement that has impacted the entire country. It is our job to take their work and strengthen it in our own community. Students can make a difference and student voices do matter— we’ve seen what is possible when we stand together and demand action. And we know that gun violence has become a partisan issue. But we don’t believe that decreasing the amount of death in this country should be a stance that divides. We are asking all Branham students, regardless of gender, ethnicity, grade, or political ideology to walk out with us, stand with us, and unite with us so that no child has to ever go to school in fear. This walkout is calling for governmental action, but you, as an individual, can decide what that action should be. If you advocate for mental health services, walk out with us. If you advocate for gun reform, walk out with us. If you don’t know what should happen, but you’re against kids being killed in the very place they’re supposed to grow, walk out with us. Your voice matters. Together, we can show our government that fear truly has no place in our schools. Walkout with us: March 14, 2019 10am - 10:17am For more information follow @branhamwalkout on Instagram or visit our website http://bit.ly/bhswalkout19

  • Stop Selling Patriarchy to Five-Year-Old Girls
I want to be supportive of brick and mortar retailers and enjoy the experience of taking my daughter shopping for clothing. But young girls — and boys — should have the ability to chose clothing that doesn’t reinforce gender norms and especially doesn’t reinforce negative stereotypes of women.

  • Pinellas County: Save Bardmoor Open Air Recreational Space - Stop Overdevelopment
SAVE Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club Petition To Stop Rezoning! We, the Citizens of Pinellas County and those of us who enjoy the open air recreational spaces, hereby submit this petition to stop any re-zoning attempts of the Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club located at 8001 Cumberland Road, Seminole, Florida 33777 in unincorporated Pinellas County. The Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club is currently zoned as recreational open with a county property use code of 3855 (Regulation, PAR 3 Golf Course). The Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club represents a gem for our county and for our fellow residents. A change in zoning would lead to a lower quality of life for residents who live in neighborhoods surrounding the golf course and for our county as a whole. Rezoning would allow developers to change the Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club from the 140 acres of rolling natural vegetation to hundreds of homes, townhomes and/or condos replacing grass with concrete and asphalt adding to the already dense population in the county and putting additional strain on our infrastructure with added homes and traffic. Re-zoning would disturb and disrupt the sensitive ecosystem that is home to many native Florida species of plant and wildlife. Rezoning would subject the entire community to a lengthy construction process where residents would be exposed to dangerous conditions, pollution, noise and a poor quality of life in general. We want Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club to be saved so future generations can enjoy what this open green space has provided millions for the past 50+ years. We request the Pinellas Board of Commissioners/Zoning Board: • Deny any changes to the current Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club Zoning. • Protect the Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club’s “Green Open Space” and prohibit any construction of residences. • Maintain our “Green Open Space” so that generations of Eagles, Egrets, Otters, Ducks, Geese, Coyotes, Owls, and others may continue to have their rightful nesting and living areas. • Protect the Trees & Native Greenery that clean our air and provide habitat for the hundreds of animals that call it home. We strongly object to an out of state developer creating a Community Development District where the Bardmoor community would be taxed in order to pay for construction of the Developer’s project.

  • GOP Senators: REJECT Trump’s national emergency
This is a gut check moment for every lawmaker who says they care about the rule of law. When Donald Trump failed to get his border wall built through the democratic process, he decided to undermine the checks and balances that have protected our nation for centuries -- declaring a phony “national emergency” to pay for it. In response to this brazen attack on the rule of law, House Democrats introduced and passed a resolution to block Trump’s declaration that was supported by 13 House Republicans. The Senate's resolution is also gaining bipartisan support, as three Republican senators have already signed on. Now, we just need ONE more Senate Republican to put country before party -- and we’ll have the votes we need to reject Trump’s “national emergency.” Time and time again, Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham, and other GOP senators have spoken out against Trump’s lawlessness -- and now, the nation is watching to see if they will back those words up with action when it matters most. We cannot let our president blatantly ignore our democratic system to fund his anti-immigrant agenda. Add your name and demand GOP Senators take a stand for the rule of law.

  • All content shall be in English
As a HUMAN being, I only speak, and read, HUMAN English. To me, it is totally INSULTING to have web-site creation tools tell me "It does not matter if you paid your fee's, and approved billing, until you can tell us your "url", "platform", SEO, "system integration software", and so on, your site will NOT go on-line. All that HUMANS should have to provide, to such sites is 1) Owners name, 2) proposed site name, 3) owners billing information, 4) site content (for search engines), and agree to pay normal "hosting" fee's, to the "hosting web-site". HUMANS should NOT be required to obtain computer programming degree's, just to have content, on-line. HUMANS should provide basic information, and let the programmers hhandle the "coding".

  • Opposition to High-Density Residential Zoning
Residents of the Twin Oaks, Brighten Lane, and Oak Creek Canyon Communities are concerned that 50 units on a 1.7-acre parcel of land will increase our low-density population, dramatically increase traffic in an already congested area, which will lead to more accidents, injuries, and potential fatalities.
