Workers Compensation Needs to Protect Workers not EmployersWorkers' compensation is not protecting its workers. Based on the changes of 2007, if you were hurt prior to 2007, your compensation is based on wages the year you were injured, not your current wage. I had to go out on workers compensation in 2015 for surgery from a 2002 injury and was paid 18.75% of current wages. In 2002, I had 0 children, in 2015 I had 3. My property and school taxes weren't reduced to 18.75 %. When welfare pays more than WC, the system is terribly broken and doesn't protect the worker at all. This was my second cervical fusion and it has failed, I have been asked if I want another surgery and I keep pushing it off. Am I going to have to set up a GO FUND ME page, since NYS laws sold me out as a worker? I had rainy day money saved, I survived. Would you? I will not again. NY has been proposing changes to the system in 2017 - 2018 and it will only make it even worse.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robert Wurz

Michigan: Strict Laws for Animal AbusersAfter the brutal weather we've had, there are too many people who shouldn't be allowed to have pets. Rescue groups work 24/7 volunteering to rescue pets and animals. Very strict laws, punishments and follow-up caate is needed.53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Patricia Warner

Coloradoan's stand against Trump's proposed Health Care Law!My name is Kenneth Green and I am a disabled American citizen living in the mile-high city of Denver. I am someone who’s disabilities onset around the time that I was born. I can't tell you how much Medicaid/Medicare have helped me. I would be dead without it. My wife is a hard worker, who works two jobs and yet her Medicaid is under threat and we don’t make enough to get coverage from the Colorado Marketplace. My petition is to send a signal to legislatures in Colorado that this issue is not merely about numbers on a balance sheet. This issue is about peoples lives and the quality thereof. Trump is threatening to make overhauls that could cripple the Medicaid program as we know it. I am hoping by getting enough support on this petition, that legislative officials can know how serious an issue this is to the people of Colorado. Maybe this can affect change in our legislature. Maybe our elected officials will understand that if they support a TrumpCare law that their own tenure as officials can be at risk for we have power to vote them out next election. Without these benefits I would be dead and so would my wife. Therefore, I am so passionate about this issue. I joined Move On via the Resistance Summer movement which I was ecstatic about! And now I am hoping to use their platform to raise awareness about this issue hopefully not just in Colorado but the entire United States!135 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kenneth Green

Demand equal treatment for the children of same-sex couplesU.S.-citizen Allison Blixt and her Italian wife Stefania Zaccari have two happy, healthy sons. Stefania gave birth to their son Lucas, and Allison gave birth to their son Massi. Because Allison was born and raised in the United States, she is able to pass her citizenship on to her children even though they were born abroad. However, the State Department refused to recognize Lucas' citizenship and denied that Lucas was her son. The State Department explicitly informed the couple that it was using a policy applicable solely to unwed mothers, even though the couple were married when Lucas was born! Andrew Dvash-Banks and his husband Elad have a similar story, except their sons also happen to be twins. One twin was recognized as a U.S. citizen and the other is living in the U.S. on a tourist visa! Meet the families in this short video and sign our petition to demand the State Department stop discriminating against same-sex couples and their children! Tell Gov. Rauner, drop the appeal & allow medication access. If the administration won't show compassion and allow people access to safer pain relief, the General Assembly needs to. Is it a good use of state resources to appeal the court's decision on including chronic pain in the medical cannabis program? Tell Governor Rauner to drop the appeal and allow pain patients access to the medical cannabis program.4,603 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Rep. Kelly Cassidy & Sen. Heather Steans

Help Us Replace David Carlucci with a REAL DemocratState Senator David Carlucci has not caucused with Democrats in the senate since he was elected in 2010. Instead he has allied himself with Republicans, allowing the GOP to control the chamber and block or water down all progressive legislation. We voters thought we elected a Democrat but we were wrong. It's up to the leadership of our party now to work seriously to find and support a REAL Democrat to primary Carlucci so Rockland and Westchester voters are not continuing to enable the Trump agenda in New York by sending a turncoat to the senate.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rockland Citizens Action Network

Governor Ricketts and State Senators: Don't defund Planned ParenthoodThe people of Nebraska need Planned Parenthood locations in our State. This is a service used by both men and woman. The funding of Planned Parenthood should not be a political decision. It should be an independent decision to help the residents of the State of Nebraska. Please let your Senators know you want Planned Parenthood funded in the State of Nebraska.86 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cheri Pilant

SFMTA: Stop Extension of 38 Geary Bus Stop at 48th Ave & Geary Blvd! The proposed 20-foot extension of the 38 Geary bus stop into the intersection at the northwest corner of 48th Ave and Geary Blvd in front of Sutro Heights Park is bad for the neighborhood for many reasons, including but not limited to the following: 1. Makes safely crossing the street (48th Ave) on the north side of the intersection (where there is no stop sign or crosswalk) impossible and much more dangerous for pedestrians 2. Impedes access to Sutro Heights Park for neighborhood residents, children, dog walkers, and recreationalists 3. Will reduce parking spaces in the neighborhood for residents and visitors 4. Increases the potential for accidents at the intersection (where there is no stop sign and a history of accidents with MUNI) as buses will be pulling out from a parked position into a 90-degree direct left turn onto 48th Ave 5. Passengers will now catch the bus in the middle of the intersection where there is no stop sign or crosswalk and be dropped off in the same place, which is very dangerous (what about wheelchair or handicapped passengers?) 6. Increased congestion, noise, and litter at the intersection The proposed bus stop extension does not improve our neighborhood. It will endanger pedestrians, motorists, and bus passengers at the intersection, and impede public access to Sutro Heights Park. Please sign this petition if you are in agreement to oppose the extension of the 38 Geary bus stop prior to the Engineering Public Hearing at City Hall on February 2nd, 2018 at 10 am when the issue will be heard. Thank you for your support.66 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chris Sheldon

Make iTunes, iMessage, and iPhoto compatible with LinuxApple's default applications such as iTunes, iPhoto, and iMessage are crucial to both iPhone users and hundreds of millions of people. Unfortunately, Apple has gone out of its way to make these applications incompatible with Linux based operating systems. We demand that Apple make these applications cross-compatible for the millions of Linux users across the world who also use iPhone's and iTunes regularly.23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jordan Hardee

Equitable Social Work SalariesSocial workers are the lowest paid people on the planet! and they have the most student debt, which causes financial hardship and causes workers to leave the profession for better paying jobs. Plus, policy reflects the lack of social work education requirement in hiring social workers (a DHS worker requirement is a degree in any field), which sets the salaries for social workers on a low scale and Indian Health Service social work salaries (most of those positions are in rural areas) are even lower.53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dee Ferrell

Florida's state bird. The Florida state bird is a Northern Mocking bird. Obviously, Florida is in the South, so why do we choose a Northern Mocking bird? The Northern Mocking bird is a very small bird not easily noticed, meaning not popular. The Pelican is a very lovable bird full of interest. It is very well known and can be found in the beautiful oceans of Florida that we love. Therefore the Pelican should be Florida's state bird, that we may all enjoy.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cara Painter
