Stop Tax Exemptions for Religious OrganizationsWe want to start out stating this is not a petition to attack religious beliefs. It is a petition to remove the tax exempt status that ALL religious organizations have. Religious organizations should be entitled to tax write-offs like all other businesses but should not continue to receive a Non-Profit operating status. The taxes collected from the church can go into helping our communities infrastructure, public schools/education, health care and public assistance programs to help stimulate the economy.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Julia Lovett

St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger: Give the County Council their own attorneyThe County Counselor who is the attorney for St. Louis County, works at the pleasure of the County Executive. The County Council should have their own in-house council so council-members can better serve the districts they represent. They develop and review hundreds of documents every year that are legally binding to every resident of St. Louis County and they should have legal representation that is beholden to the Council and not the County Executive.25 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bill Ray

Stop Senator PayAmericans deserve better than pissing contests in Congress. We need to have our voices heard and those elected officials need to hear us. Until there is an amicable solution US House and Senate should not be paid for their lack of cohesion and work. Stop their pay over first.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Karen F Vickers

No pay for Executive and Legislative branches during shutdowns. These branches of government are paid during shutdowns because they are considered “essential”, but the impact is felt by “non-essential” civil service workers and the military. It also effects programs that serve and support low-income families and their healthcare. I believe that the politicians need to feel the impact of their decisions. I realize that career politicians are generally wealthy enough that they won’t really feel it, but their immediate staff will.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jeffrey Caldwell

Revoke Pay + Fine Senators, Congresspeople & PresidentLegislators make $174,000 per year to do their job and can't seem to do their job. Most of us make far less than $174K and if we don't work, we don't get paid. In exchange for holding our service people and first responders hostage - lets collect a fine of $1,000 per day during a government shut down from each Senator and Representative. Our current president does not take a paycheck but future presidents may elect to do so - let's make sure they are included. Additionally - regular pay and benefits during the time the government is shut down are revoked (no back pay provided). Many Americans live this way and it is at our government's incompetent hand they must do so - legislators deserve a taste of this. A few Congresspeople have suggested a similar bill but it will not be introduced until next year - this is too late. This should have already been in place (http://bit.ly/2rnwT0H). Little known fact - the bill Obama signed to ensure military are paid in this event was temporary - http://bit.ly/2DTnNeJ - it expired in 2015. Senators and Congresspeople should be ashamed of their ineptitude. They should be ashamed of their short sightedness. They should be ashamed this is not already a law. They should be ashamed of collecting a paycheck for a job they did not do. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-wealth-reduces-compassion/ The White House has removed the petition site while they build a new one ([not appropriate] http://wapo.st/2EXt5VE) so this site will have to do.44 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Anna DiLoreto

PA Gerrymandering needs to end NOWI want to know that mine and every other Pennsylvanian has an equal stake in state elections. Pennsylvanians have many things to be proud of but having some of the worst gerrymandered districts in the country isn't one of them.197 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Gary Ryan

Ratification of the Equal Rights AmendmentYes. I have been discriminated against and told that I could not hold a higher position if I got pregnant. Passage of this amendment would make it illegal to discriminate due to pregnancy - per the constitution.34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Roni Axelrod

Tell Republicans to stop Trump's reckless government shutdownThe Republicans just shut down the federal government to support Trump's reckless and racist agenda. This is the first time in history there's been a government shutdown when one party has controlled both houses of Congress and the White House—and the result will hurt tens of millions of Americans, from furloughed federal employees to all of us who use federal services and programs. This is the result of Trump insisting on his unpopular and wasteful border wall and Republican leadership's refusal to vote on the bipartisan and popular Dream Act. Senator Chuck Schumer told reporters that "Negotiating with this White House is like negotiating with Jell-O. It's next to impossible." Republicans have been funding the government a month at a time rather than coming up with real solutions to children's health, protections for Dreamers, relief for Puerto Rico, funding for community health centers, and more. Republicans in Congress say they don't want to send Trump a bill he won't sign. But back in 2011 Trump said "if there is a shutdown I think it would be a tremendously negative mark on the president of the United States. He's the one that has to get people together." When will Trump and his Republican cheerleaders stop with the political obstruction and do their job of serving the public? There is no question: Trump and the Republicans caused this shutdown and Republicans can, and must, end it. Republicans must act to end the Trump Shutdown, and Democrats must stand strong against the bully in the White House. Get back to work—pass the Dream Act, fund children's health, provide disaster relief, and reopen the government. We're paying your salaries—do your job!1,198 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Terry Park

We support gov't shut down in the name of justice 4 DreamersPeople of good conscious must recognize that this is the best time to secure DACA for some 800,000 young people. Therefore I ask that you sign this petition so that courageous politicians standing up for the right thing know that we are behind them. This is not the first time Democrats and Republicans have disagreed to the point of gov't shut down and it won't be the last and we support those who stand strong for justice.24 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Patricia Axelrod
