  • Prevent Trump's Immediate Access To Nuclear Codes
James Clapper, director of national intelligence (DNI) for seven years under Barack Obama, questioned the US president’s "fitness to be in this office" after his demagogic performance in Phoenix, and expressed anxiety about Trump’s power to launch nuclear weapons without consulting Congress or any other official. This unstable, mentally unbalanced President, Trump, must not be in a position to destroy our planet.

  • Sign the petition: Reject and denounce any pardon of Sheriff Arpaio
Trump led a horrifying, racist rally in Arizona—where he defended convicted criminal (and former Sheriff) Joe Arpaio for “doing his job.” Arpaio was convicted for violating a federal judge’s order to stop racially profiling Latinx communities and terrorizing undocumented immigrants. This is not "doing his job." The White House has allegedly prepared talking points on Trump’s soon-to-come presidential pardon of Arpaio. Trump’s plan to pardon Arpaio is a blatant demonstration of white supremacy and will only further harm families by endorsing policies that terrorize Latinx communities. Further, by pardoning Arpaio, Trump also says it’s okay to violate court orders. Only 21% of Arizonans support pardoning Arpaio. If the state’s Republican governor and two senators don’t publicly denounce Trump’s bigotry and reject this pardon, they are siding with the racists in their state. Sign our petition now to urge Arizona Governor Ducey and Senators McCain and Flake to publicly oppose Trump’s plan to pardon Joe Arpaio.

  • Sign the petition: No wall on the U.S.-Mexico border
Donald Trump ran for President by whipping up racist hysteria against immigrants—pledging to build a wall and somehow make Mexico pay for it. (Spoiler alert: Mexico won't pay for it.) He is still trying to waste billions of federal dollars to build a 2,000-mile wall, and is even threatening a government shutdown if the Republican Congress does not agree to fund it. Sign the petition: No wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. It's racist, ineffective and a colossal waste of money.

  • GoDaddy: Don't Provide a Platform for Hate
There is no room for hate in our country. And while freedom of speech is important, there is no reason that GoDaddy, the world's top hosting site, should be promoting white power nationalists whose platform is based on religious and ethnic intolerance.

  • @NYTimes: Correct the Record: the U.S. Is Directly Involved in Saudis' Yemen War
On August 23, the New York Times published a major article on the humanitarian catastrophe produced by the U.S.-backed Saudi-UAE war and blockade in Yemen, acknowledging that Yemen is "the world's largest humanitarian crisis" and that "there is little chance for significant improvements unless the war ends." But the August 23 NYT article falsely minimized the U.S. role in the catastrophe: "the United States is not directly involved in the conflict." [1] Past reporting by the New York Times has been more straightforward in acknowledging the direct U.S. military role in Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen. On August 24, 2016, the New York Times reported - under the headline "Support for Saudi Arabia Gives U.S. Direct Role in Yemen Conflict" - that the Saudi bombing of a Doctors Without Borders hospital was another public reminder for the Obama Administration of "the spiraling violence of a war in which it has played a direct role...the Pentagon has given steady support to the coalition led by Saudi Arabia, with targeting intelligence and fuel for the Saudi planes involved in the air campaign." [2] The U.S. role in Saudi Arabia's Yemen war certainly hasn't become less "direct" since August 24, 2016. The Intercept reported on July 13, 2017 that the U.S. has doubled the fuel provided to Saudi-UAE warplanes bombing Yemen since October. [3] The New York Times reported on June 14, 2017 that as a condition of the recent arms deal with Saudi Arabia that was narrowly approved by the Senate, U.S. military advisers coordinating U.S. logistical assistance to the Saudi bombing campaign would sit in the Saudi air operations control center in Riyadh. [4] Such "conditions" are apparently not working to prevent civilian casualties, as the New York Times reported on August 23, 2017 that at least 30 civilians were killed or wounded by Saudi airstrikes in Yemen's capital. [5] Urge the New York Times to correct its August 23, 2017 article to acknowledge that the U.S. is directly involved in the Saudis' war in Yemen through targeting assistance and midair refueling for Saudi-UAE warplanes bombing Yemen by signing our petition. • Congress: Do Not Approve Funding for Trump's Border Wall!
At a campaign rally in Phoenix, AZ President Trump proclaimed, "Build that wall," he said. "Now, the obstructionist Democrats would like us not to do it. But believe me, if we have to close down our government, we’re building that wall." Trump campaigned on the promise that he would compel Mexico to pay for his Border Wall. Now that he has clearly failed to secure this funding from Mexico, he is holding his own government hostage and threatening to allow the government to shutdown if funding for the Border Wall is not approved. The last government shutdown took place in October 2013. The shutdown lasted 16 days and reportedly cost the US economy several billion dollars in lost wages, revenue and productivity. Do not allow President Trump to use the threat of a government shutdown to bully Congress into approving $1.6B for the unpopular Border Wall. Government spending bills are not intended to make up for the failed promises of our president. Please sign my petition today and demand that Congress not approve funding for the Border Wall or allow a government shutdown. Thank you, Elizabeth Miller

  • Insist Congress introduce legislation to fund more vocational training.
It's not enough to fund fixes for these issues if there's no one trained to fix them. Providing funding for appropriate training will also ultimately boost the economy by giving more career opportunities to those who need it most.
