I am a climate activist in NH. Climate change is destroying lives, health, communities and economies and may end humanity in our grandchildren's lives. We have waited too long to do something about it already and, according to recent scientific reports and statements, are fast running out of time. Responsible corporations, like citizens, must become louder and more demanding of immediate, responsive action, and what better corporation is there to lead the charge than a giant like Amazon?

Recently, Rosa Maria Hernandez was freed, after our national outrage and the #FreeRosa campaign forced Border Patrol to allow her to return to her parents. But the truth is, every day families in places like Corpus Christi, Texas, are either avoiding taking their sick kids to the hospital or dealing with inhumane separation as a result of an out-of-control enforcement system that forces ambulances to stop at immigration checkpoints and arrests sick family members. At Driscoll Children's Hospital, in Corpus Christi, Texas, two parents were arrested by Customs and Border Patrol while waiting for a critical operation on their two-month old son. Irma and Oscar Sanchez, were told that they would travel outside their residential area to the children's hospital two hours away to have the operation performed on their son, Isaac. But, it meant they would need to travel through a border patrol checkpoint. And after crossing through the checkpoint in an ambulance with their son who was getting intravenous fluids and had a tube in his stomach, they were "escorted" to hospital only to be arrested one-by-one and placed in deportation proceedings. Months later, ten-year-old Rosa Maria Hernandez was detained, 150 miles away from her parents, after Border Patrol was alerted while she was on her way to a life-saving gallbladder surgery. Border Patrol agents allowed Rosa Maria to continue to Driscoll Children's Hospital but followed the ambulance the rest of the way there, then waited outside her room until she was released from the hospital. This is horrific and inhumane. The Border Patrol has been violating many of its own guidelines around avoiding sensitive places like hospitals and keeping children and families together whenever possible, and the public deserves assurance that they will stop. Border Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security must stop making immigration arrests at sensitive locations, including ambulances and emergency vehicles going through Border Patrol checkpoints, hospitals, schools, churches, public demonstrations, and more.

We were excited by the Mayor's interest in solarizing the Airport when we talked about it earlier this year. It's an important opportunity. We were dismayed to see that the Master Plan does not include solarization. We kindly request that solarization be added to the proposed capital improvements outlined in the plan.

H.R. 3668, The Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act (SHARE Act), would: Delist gray wolves in the Great Lakes, paving the way for hunting and trapping seasons and prevent the courts from reviewing the action or the FWS from ever relisting these wolves; Subject endangered species around the country to increased risk of gruesome death caused by trapping; And prohibit any regulation of toxic lead ammunition or fishing equipment that is responsible for the poisoning death of millions of birds and animals annually–including the bald eagles shown in the photo above. This bill is a repeat of legislation that has failed repeatedly and Congress should once again refuse this attack on wildlife and wild places. Please sign the petition to Congress asking that they oppose this bill.

We are calling on you to remove the statue of Christopher Columbus, who committed genocide against indigenous people. He enslaved, raped, and killed them without mercy. There should be a standard of behavior behind the people we choose to celebrate. We shouldn’t idolize someone who enslaved, raped, and killed indigenous people. Leaving the Columbus statue up makes it seem like the things he did were okay. It’s a sign of hate that shouldn’t be on public display. We understand that, to some, Columbus represents also Italian heritage, but Italian Americans don’t have to rely on Christopher Columbus’s legacy in order to be proud of their heritage. The statue should be taken down because NYC is a very diverse place, with all types of people, including Native Americans who feel hurt or intimidated by the display of this statue.

The Republican Party is once again trying to push through a bill that is basically no different than all other bills that both the Senate and the American people have rejected. It is time to put an end to passing legislation that will drastically cut Medicaid and force millions off of Health Insurance as well as cause premiums to rise and make it nearly impossible for many who have pre-existing conditions to be able to afford treatment. The time has come to take partisan politics out of HealthCare- and instead, both parties should begin to work towards a system that will either improve the Affordable Care Act-- or better to create a system based on Single Payer Medicare. Stop putting the American People at risk - fix it....don't repeal and replace it.

I'm so tired of Trump & the GOP members of Congress giving lip-service to their "concerns" about the "high cost of Obamacare," which they are trying to "improve" by cutting the funds that have allowed millions of poor and elderly to (finally) have had access to affordable care! How about the high costs of Trump's frequent golf vacations at OUR EXPENSE?!!

I'm a retired physician who believes we need to save lives by passing the Conyers House bill and the Sanders Senate Bill for Single payer--improved Medicare for All. This is the only healthcare bill that will help all Americans achieve access to healthcare. In the interim, until Medicare for All is passed, we must defeat all versions of Trump Care like the present deadly Cassidy Graham proposal in the Senate. Obamacare will need to continue until WE THE PEOPLE have the right progressives candidates to pass Medicare for All.

This is a fiscally reckless bill voted in favor by 89% of the Senate. We need this money for other programs and to help reduce the federal deficit. It is not in line with our priorities to build a more peaceful and prosperous future for our nation. U.S. Defense spending is already humongous and accounts for more than a third of all military spending in the entire world and is more than three times what China spends. Additionally, we already possess a huge nuclear arsenal as a deterrent. To put the amount in perspective, $80 billion annually could eliminate undergraduate tuition costs at all 4-year public colleges and universities. Our politicians must break free of the dominating influence and power of the weapons industry and choose to use our taxpayer money for the benefit of our people. This can only happen if the voices of the people push back now on this misguided direction. Our future depends upon it.

We are CUNY students with disabilities who would be affected by this maneuver. Furthermore, with the removal of significant amounts of funding, others will also be affected. Police are out of control in St. Louis, and the Mayor has done nothing to stop them. Over the weekend of protests following the not-guilty verdict absolving Jason Stockley of accountability in the killing of Anthony Lamar Smith, police have taunted protesters saying chants like "Whose streets? Our streets?" and even trampled over an old woman and pepper-sprayed the people who tried to help her. It's history repeating itself again and again since the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement. When Black people gather to demand an end to state violence, the state doubles down on the violence people were there to protest in the first place. Using tear gas and riot gear, the police in St. Louis have arrested over 80 people since Friday and exerted full force in an attempt to show us who has the power. Mayor Lyda Krewson still has not condemned the rampant excessive force police are using to suppress the peaceful protesters she claims to support. After the verdict came down, Krewson was quick to express her disappointment and also made a statement in support of peaceful protesters. But now, it's time for Krewson to take action to protect protesters. That's why we're calling on her to widely condemn any use of excessive force against protesters and call a commission to investigate the actions of police during this time. And she won't have a choice if enough of us join together in making the demand.
