• End taxpayer-funded health care subsidies for Congress
As someone with pre-existing, life threatening conditions. Affordable health care for all is important to me. Those in government that want to repeal/replace the ACA have had plenty of time to craft legislation that is better than the ACA, yet they have done nothing. No plan at all other than to repeal. It's time they struggle to pay their health care bills just like I, and the majority of Americans do.

  • Secretary Mattis: Denounce Trump's Attack on Transgender Troops
I am one of thousands of transgender troops and veterans who, unlike Trump, have willingly volunteered to defend this nation. Trump has no right to dishonor our service. This is particularly shameful because Trump seems to have made these statements without consulting the Pentagon or other military leadership. His tweets are already creating chaos and uncertainty among the ranks, and for people seeking to join the military. Secretary Mattis can reassure our troops - and our country - by denouncing these statements, and sending a clear message that hate is not a military value.

I am a teacher and have seen how experiences in nature have changed children's lives. I also know that failing to protect swaths of natural lands will compromise all of our lives on this planet.

  • ESPN Don't Bring Hank Williams, Jr. Back
Hank Williams, Jr used his previous platform as the show opener for Monday Night Football as a spring board for appearing all over the country denouncing human rights and racial equality issues. He was particularly insulting to President Obama, likening him to Hitler. It has been announced that ESPN is planning to bring him back to the program although he has never retreated from his bigoted commentary. We should demand that for the good of our country, as it tries to heal, he should not be returned to the public airways.

  • Tell the Boy Scouts to End their Partnership with Trump's Deportation Force
After Trump's speech to the Boy Scouts this week, the organization has some serious questions to ask itself. One of them is what role will it have in the harm being caused by some of the agencies under Trump's leadership. The Department of Homeland Security has announced that any undocumented person in the United States is a target for deportation - whether they are a parent, child, teen, student, or worker - that includes some who are scouts. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have begun to speak out about a culture of hostility and discrimination inside the agency. In various years though, the Boy Scouts have participated in an "explorers" program led by the agency. Trump's speech was enough propaganda to expose our youth to, ask the Scouts to cut any partnership with his deportation force as well.

  • Repeal Health Insurance for Members of Congress
I don't believe that anyone can be sure how this would play out going forward. Will my Medicare be affected in the future? Both my county and state have set aside millions of dollars in their budgets to cover the cost of repeal of the ACA.

  • Stop Trump from making appointments without Senate approval
The critical question is: Should anyone regardless of innocence or guilt be able to hinder the process if he or she is on trial? I don't think anyone should be allowed to block the course of due process even if he or she is wrongly accused! However, there is a loophole Trump could use to do just that unless we close it. If you agree that no one should interfer with the justice systems process please sign below! After signing ,please ask one other person to do so. If everyone would ask just one other person we would soon have double the amount and beyound This is time critical. The Senate has vacation in August typically. If we want to ask that they stay in D.C. ( so that Trump can't interfere with the Russia investigation) we Need To Act Now! Thanks If Trump replaces Sessions, the new Attorney General could halt the Russia investigation (MSNBC,2017). Normally, he would need Senate approval, but not if they are on vacation! (Chait, 2017) The foundations of the democracy are threatened by the possibility that anyone could get away with unconstitutionally influencing the outcome of elections. It looks like Trump may fire anyone who acts with integrity in this matter (as he already fired an FBI director) (Kelly and Jonhson, 2017). References: MSNBC. A note to my brothers and sisters in Christ: Even when Jesus was wrongfully charged he did not block the process of law (yes priests didn't follow the law which would have been all the more reason for blocking it). If Christ didn't, why should the President have the option to?

  • Restore independent travel to Cuba
In June President Trump announced his intention to limit the freedom of Americans by terminating our right to travel independently to Cuba for a self-designed people to people program. In effect he distrusted not only the integrity of individual travel goals but also the ability of average Americans to share their faith in freedom through personal contact and practice. US airlines and AirBnB will see a dramatic decline in business from individuals, families and friends who cannot afford or are uncomfortable in group tours. Cuban entrepreneurs face a major set-back from the loss of American customers. They include private bed and breakfasts, restaurants, drivers and guides as well as supporting sectors in design, construction, furnishings and supplies. Until new regulations are announced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, Americans have the right to travel independently. The President can still avoid the presumably unintended costs. The Trump Administration also has the unique historic potential to restore full freedom of travel to all Americans. A bipartisan majority of 55 Senators already cosponsor legislation to end discriminatory restrictions on visits to Cuba. With the President's support, a similar majority could be found in the House of Representatives from business, agriculture and libertarian Republicans in coalition with pro-engagement Democrats. I pledge to work actively against the reelection of any legislator who votes to weaken health care in America. I will give money to opponents, or work on their election committee, or canvass for them, or phone bank for them, or send them donations, or hold fundraisers for them, or do whatever is in my power to make sure healthcare deniers are not reelected.

  • I stand with immigrant youth and DACA
***BREAKING: News reports say Trump may end DACA today. We will be delivering your signatures to Washington this week. Please sign and spread the word!*** More than 800,000 immigrant are protected by DACA—a vitally important program that, for the past five years, has given immigrants who came to this country as children a way to go to school, work, and support their families without constant fear of deportation. But despite the success of this program, right-wing extremists at nearly every level of government are trying to dismantle this program, putting the legal status of 800,000 immigrant youth in jeopardy. The attacks against immigrants and DACA are growing more and more intense and dangerous. Last month, attorneys general from ten states and the governor of Idaho sent a letter to the Trump administration calling on Homeland Security to phase out DACA completely. In their unseemly ultimatum to the federal government, they threaten to bring a lawsuit to challenge DACA by September 5. At the same time, immigration arrests have increased 38% in Trump’s first six months in office, with more than half a million people in detention centers awaiting immigration hearings. These arrests and deportations rip families and communities apart, and anti-immigrant rhetoric is only being more normalized. As a DACA recipient myself, I know how important this program is to our community and our families. I believe in our power when we stand together. A handful of cynical Republicans want to trade our dignity and respect for cheap political points, but I am hopeful that our community and our allies will stand with us. In the coming months, we’ll need everyone to stand together to support a country that includes us all. Will you stand with immigrant youth and defend DACA

  • Boy Scouts: Take Away Trump's Honorary Presidency
I served six years as a Marine, but the first uniform I put on was as a member of Boy Scouts of America. In the Boy Scouts, I lived by the Boy Scout Law, learning their code of values. At the Boy Scouts National Jamboree on Monday, Donald Trump showed he shares none of these values, and disrespected tens of thousands of young Scouts and their families by turning a nonpartisan event into a bizarre, offensive campaign rally, leading chants booing his political enemies, praising himself, and bragging about his election. It has long been a tradition for the President of the United States to serve as honorary president of Boy Scouts of America, but it is clear that Donald Trump cannot serve as a role model for Boy Scouts and other young people, and is against the values Scouts live by and the oath Boy Scouts like me swear. Therefore, we demand that Boy Scouts of America take away Donald Trump’s honorary title of president of the organization.
