Covid 19 is affecting the economy in major ways and forcing people to make tough decisions for their families based upon recent events and work displacement. People in detention are highly vulnerable to outbreaks of contagious illnesses. To date, we have seen the high level of contagion in New York jails and many counties across the county have released people detained or incarcerated as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Protecting the health of people in detention is a necessary step to protecting the public safety, as detention center staff and ICE officers go back to their homes and communities each night. Our demands are simple: Release all people incarcerated and detained in the Etowah county Detention Center and County Jail. Immediate action before an outbreak occurs is the best and safest way to prevent the spread of disease and reduce the threat to those most vulnerable to complications from the novel coronavirus. Release your plans to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the Etowah County Detention Center and County Jail. Sheriff Horton has yet to release a detailed plan to reduce the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak in the Etowah County Jail and Detention Center. An outbreak would totally overwhelm the Etowah County Jail and medical facilities in Etowah County. Plans should include screening, testing, non-punitive isolation methods, and adequate medical care. Make publicly available information regarding the spread of COVID-19 within the Etowah County Detention Center and County Jail and uphold the right of those in custody to communicate with their families, friends, and legal counsel. Families, friends, and lawyers should have access to regular communication with those in detention including free phone calls (including confidential phone calls and video conferencing with attorneys), access to email, video visitation, and postage mail. Everything and everyone on Earth will be effected by the next Presidential election. If TRump steals the 2020 Election the entire planet is doomed. If Biden wins, we all (planet, species, humans) have a chance of survival and making things right for our kids and grandchildren.

Reports are showing that domestic violence is dramatically increasing daily due to the Stay-at-home Orders. Safe preventive measures should be put in place to deter the likelihood of future domestic violence incidents. Some possible suggestions can be increased police presence in areas where calls are being made by patrolling local neighborhoods. Also, by making follow up phone calls should be made to homes of 911 callers reporting abuse. Safety measures can possibly place abusers on high alert that law enforcement is canvasing the areas regularly, which may save lives. Let's please tell our State Representative Rebekah Warren, and Michigan State Police Commissioners to protect our families. Quick safety measures need to be set in place to protect victims in isolation with an abuser. Please sign my petition to draw more attention to this issue.

Since the United States, along with most of the world, is in self-quarantine, and there are elections coming up in November, it is of the utmost importance to people's health and safety that they not face long voting lines and possibly unintended infections passed on by the proximity to possible carriers, causing more victims and the possible death of thousands. With the safety of every person in these United States as paramount, the Post Office must remain open as a possibility for safe voting, not to satisfy one person's selfish goals, including the President.

As a public servant in Georgia, I have a concern that we will not defeat COVID-19 as long as our state officials don't act decisively to reduce the density of the prisons, which will help to reduce the spread of a horrible disease both inside and out in the communities. Nonviolent, low risk to community inmates, misdemeanors and felonies alike, make up a large percentage of the prison population. Clemency will reduce the population to lower the risk of spreading COVID-19 inside prisons. Nonviolent inmates can better serve the community by not being part of the spread. They can quarantine with family, then become productive in their local community. Without the burden of taking care of additional sick, possibly dying inmates, the state can better care for those left inside. Additionally, the state will continue to collect money from parole fees, helping to fund other needs.

The Coronavirus Pandemic has shined a bright light on food insecurity, and the fragility of our community. During these times, Community Organizations have banded together to deliver meals to children within the Kingston City School District, with more children needing meals on a daily basis. The Kingston City School District needs to take a bigger role in feeding our community.
