One in four transgender people will experience assault in their lives because they are transgender. LB504 is just one step to protect transgender people and end the violence. There are many factors as to why transgender people face this violence. For example, in many states including Nebraska, it is difficult to impossible for transgender people to update the gender marker listed on their driver's license or birth certificate. Without identification matching their gender, transgender people frequently are "outed" as transgender in everyday interactions at bars, movie theaters, hospitals, or with police. These interactions can lead to harassment and violence. A ProPublica report documented, being known as transgender leads to pervasive job discrimination. Without laws protecting transgender people from discrimination face housing and food insecurity, homelessness and criminalization. Thus, it is vital that the Nebraska Unicameral pass LB504 to add gender identity to the Hate Crimes law. This violence against the transgender community has steadily risen in recent years. Last year 26 transgender people were fatally shot or killed by other violent means. In 2017, 29 transgender people were killed, and in 2016 the number was 23. I am starting this petition because Burlington, NC doesn't have a street that honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I feel like this would show the community unity. We have a confederate solider statue in Graham, NC, so why can't we have a street named after such an honorable and astute man as Dr. King.

Principal Rowe, Your students travelled to Washington, D.C. and rather than supporting life, they became a mob that desecrated life and reveled in fear and hate. I understand that you have issued a condemnation of their actions and promise to investigate and take action. In this moment, you must all do far more. I urge you to root out the foundations of such unacceptable and hateful behavior and to teach your students to treat every person they encounter - and particularly elders - with dignity, humanity and respect. I urge you to engage every one of your students - and specifically all those who attended the march and surrounded Veteran and Elder Nathan Phillips at the Lincoln Memorial - in understanding the legacies and the values of the man who stood before them in song and the man at whose memorial they gathered. I urge you to remind them that hate and violence, racism and misogyny, have no place in the Catholic faith. I urge you to take this opportunity to show your students their privilege in even being able to travel home - when students of a different race who have engaged in far less have been arrested or attacked or worse. I urge you to lead the people of Covington to honor one another, and to forge a path forward where violence towards Native peoples or children with disabilities or the poor or the vulnerable is simply no longer. Covington can be known as having raised a white supremacist mob and, a few years back, having handcuffed and violently traumatized children with disabilities. Or it can be known for something far different: building to a higher ground without hate and violence. That is the only building you and your students should be screaming for. Karen Pence, second lady of the United States, has agreed to teach art at a Christian school in northern Virginia twice a week that does not provide admission to LGBTQ students or parents. She has taught for this school for 12 years and is now returning on a part-time basis. The rules of this school are obviously discriminatory against folks that are LGBTQ, and this is unacceptable.

This is the first of two protests and boycotts against Bristol West and The Farmers Group. The second one will entail the racist practices and racist connotations against African-Americans. I will have help from N.A.A.C.P. National Chapter, Rev. Al Sharpton, and The Urban League. As an African-American Veteran who fought for this country and a Gold Star Family Member. Bristol West, The Farmers Group and Copart 14185 Dallas Parkway Suite 400 Dallas, TX 75254 are in cahoots to steal my car, low-ball me, and delayed payment of car. They have my car, I signed the title over to them, and they have not paid my car loan. I was in the car business for ten years; I have witnessed Copart gangster ways. They are treating me like the lowest scum on this earth. I don’t expect them to act honorably with my claim since they have stubbornly refused to pay off my car as of January 14, 2019. I had the accident on November 4, 2018. This insurance company is complicit with The Farmers Group to swindle, deceive, and dupe consumers under the guise of racist discrimination and not paying litigable claims. These companies have ruined my credit. They are making me jump through hoops to pay my medical claim. My medical claim is a little over $5,000.00. Do you really think I am that ill-advised to play with an insurance company that is trying their best to ruin my existence? On this claim, they have not paid off my car, and they are sending the check by snail mail. I had to literally beg for additional car rental. The bank has sent me to the collection department. Bristol West and The Farmer Group don’t care. They keep giving me the runaround hoping I will simply forget about the claim. This episode with my adjusters isn’t isolated. Just ask them to consider revealing their consumer complaints filed against them and the supervisors have given the adjusters cover. They are operating like a Mafia. I was called by this terminology, “You people.” This phrase has long been used as an interpersonal generalization. It has become known as a racial epithet embattled to African-American communities only. The unlikeliest documentation of this connotation I can verify happened in 1992 when presidential candidate Ross Perot was rebuked for telling an NAACP audience about financial hardships befalling them by "you people." At this cultural moment in the U.S., we still live in a racialized social and cultural hierarchy, and our dialectal approach continues to replicate our ongoing endeavors to struggle with the realism that was perpetrated by these adjusters and previous slave owners. I hope they try to deny it and don’t own up to this racist statement; this is a violation of public trust and this fraudulent delay with my claim. I may get in trouble for recording the conversation between us. At this point, I don’t care. Secondly, they are trying to base the decision on lack of documentation. They are looking for reasons to deny the claim. Bristol West is notorious for doing this, especially since the Insurance Commissioner has rebuked them. It is only appropriate to tie Bristol West adjusters to the hip with The Farmer Group. The supervisors are standing behind this wretched, reckless behavior, and they are obstinately refusing to move forward with my medical claim and the auto payoff to my bank. They are dragging me for no earthly reasons. Now, I have to run from city to city to gather additional medical records. The only concern they have is to save their brand. They had no intention of paying the claim. I have researched numerous complaints by consumers who were distressed and persecuted by Bristol West and The Farmer Group. I will personally go to the end of the earth to see this company answer for the damages they caused to me. I pray and hope for justice for anyone who is a victim of bad faith business practices with this company, and these illegal actions by Bristol West. They are treating me like a criminal for filing a legit auto claim. In the most stressful moments, such as after an accident with an injury, these vultures are not here to help consumers, they are looking for every reason to deny my claim. They have wrecked my credit file. I only put down $1,000 when I bought this car. Since I am a credit risk now, they are requiring me to put between $4,000-$5,000 as the down payment. Dr. Angela Davis' record speaks for itself. She is a renown leader of the civil rights movement, including being part of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). This is why it should've come as no surprise that Dr. Davis was chosen to be honored for a human rights award by the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) in October. But earlier this month, BCRI decided to revoke its award from Dr. Davis by releasing a statement that read, "Upon closer examination of Ms. Davis’ statements and public record, we concluded that she unfortunately does not meet all of the criteria on which the award is based." [1] Although BCRI never stated which "criteria" Dr. Davis did not meet for the award, the move came after the Southern Jewish Life magazine spoke critically about BCRI awarding Dr. Davis and her support for Palestinian human rights. As Dr. Davis prepares to attend an alternative event in February, it's important to stand in solidarity and show support for her as a leader, a visionary, and a human rights advocate. Source: 1. Congressman Steve King (R-IA) is openly pushing white nationalist policies and meeting with white nationalist politicians in Canada and Europe. Recently, King questioned if terms such as "white supremacist" were offensive. In the weeks leading up to election day, Steve King traveled to Austria to be interviewed by Caroline Sommerfeld of the Austrian far-right propaganda site Unzensuriert (which means “uncensored” in English). Sommerfeld is a prominent leader in Europe’s neo-fascist identitarian movement. In his conversation with Sommerfeld, King discussed his belief in the superiority of white European culture over others and talked at length about his belief that Europe and America are threatened by Muslim and Latino immigration. And the conservative Weekly Standard reported on election night that King had referred to Mexican immigrants as "dirt." However, these are just the latest developments highlighting King's extremest agenda. For years, Republicans have allowed Steve King to use their party platform to promote an agenda of racism and xenophobia. The House Republican Conference can expel Steve King from their caucus with a 2/3 majority vote. While some Republicans have taken steps to denounce Steve King's racist rhetoric, a vote to expel him would show that they are serious about cutting ties with the white nationalist wing of their party. That's why House Republicans should immediately vote to expel Steve King from their conference.

As someone who is LGBT (bisexual) this cause is close to me because all to often, LGBT people are the target of covert discrimination attempts through the usage of "religious freedom" legal exemptions, which are explicitly designed to allow for bigots who use their religion to justify to hatred to discriminate against people. It's time to put an end to these licenses to discriminate.

After Ald. Ed Burke was indicted for corruption, he stepped down as chair of the City of Chicago Finance Committee. Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants Ald. Patrick O'Connor to replace Burke. 1. City Council should choose the chairs of committees. 2. O'Connor engaged in reprehensible, racist attacks on Ugo Okere, a Nigerian-American candidate challenging O'Connor during an October 16, 2018 candidate forum.

My petition is to save the dogs around the world from being put to sleep for things not in their control. They should have the same rights as humans. Humans get second chances all the time, yet these dogs from dog fighting cases have no rights and are put to sleep immediately because of their bloodlines because the type of dogs they normally are (pit bulls). These dogs need to be safe, and I'll do anything in my power to keep them safe. If these dogs can be saved, then they should be, and yes if the dog is not safe to be around then that's another story, but when a dog is put into a ring with a dog that will do anything to kill it, then it will do anything to survive, just like a human. Most of these dogs come out and they are loving animals and can be put into a loving home. Even if they don't get along with other dogs, they can still find a home; these dogs are given up on too fast.
