Holder decision the Supreme Court invalidated the key section 4 provisions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act allowing states like North Carolina and Texas to enact draconian restrictions designed to lower turnout among minority, poor and young voters for partisan advantage. This is anathema to the spirit of American democracy.

    I'm starting this petition because I think it's reprehensible that the act of voting is being made more difficult for so many Americans. Voting should be as easy as falling off a log, so that the maximum number of Americans will do it. That is what democracy is based on, and putting up more barriers to voters is antithetical to democracy. The Voting Rights Amendment Act will help to restore some of the rights that have been under attack. Fight for that, now!
