I live 5 minutes from Newtown, where 20 6-7 y-old children were killed. When I heard the news I cried in my car, I thought about my children. What would I do without them. What are these parents who lost their young children are going to do now?

We can preserve the Second Amendment while preventing "over-kill" (by ensuring our neighbors are not stockpiling Nukes in their front hall closets) by treating weapons as we do vehicles.

Social Security cuts in any deficit reduction package. The cuts in Social Security are opposed by an overwhelming majority of SignOn.org members and would amount to a cut of more than 5 percent and more as the years go by. For many retirees this would mean critical cuts to benefits that cover medicine, food, and other daily necessities.

Congress always talks about too much spending and the deficit is too high. They spend the money and then tell us how we need to sacrifice. they never give up any of their salaries or colas. Everybody should feel the pinch. Especially congress.

This petition seeks to ban banana clips and drum magazines from private ownership, and make possession a felony. These items feature in mass killings, and they are NOT Constitutionally protected!

The Bill Of Rights has been under attack by the last two presidential administrations. Our 1st, 4th, and now our 2nd. These rights are individual rights that are inalienable (non transferable). None is more important than the other, they must all be preserved. They are supposed to be preserved by the the very government taking them away. The United States Constitution and specifically the Bill Of Rights must be "amended" if these rights are to no longer be considered Natural Rights. It is our responsibility to help preserve these rights for future generations. What we are witnessing today is exactly what the Founders foresaw and feared.

CarolineMcCarthy of New York has a bill ready to present to the House of Reps about limiting the sale of magazines/clips to l0 rounds. We need John Boehner to bring the bill to the floor this week for the sake of the 27 victims of Newtown. The American People need to see where their Representatives stand on this issue.

I work more for less money because the super rich decided to play roulette with the economy. Now your going to cut my Social Security benefits because the government spent the Social Security money to fund tax cuts for the super rich. No way!

Gun control without tampering with the 2nd Amendment.

Shortly after 9:30 am on December 14, 2012 a mentally disturbed gunmen entered the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT and used a semi-automatic assault rifle and 2 semi-automatic pistols to murder 20 innocent children, mostly kindergarteners, and 6 courageous adults after he had killed his mother in their home. The hearts of Americans and people around the world are breaking as a result of this senseless violence. While broken hearts reflect our deepest values and humanity, they are not enough! It is time for all Americans to compel our government to make reasonable and common sense gun reforms NOW! President Kennedy, who was brought down by an assassin's bullets , said, "If not us, who? If not now, when?" While Americans are ambivalent about "gun control" in general, in repeated polls the MAJORITY of Americans support 5 simple reforms that can make our country safer for all Americans without infringing on our Constitutional rights: 1. Background Checks 2. Registration 3. No guns for felons/mentally ill 4. No semi-automatic weapons 5. No high capacity clips We are not a Republican America or a Democratic America. We are the United States of America and we believe that the overwhelming majority of Americans support reasonable, sensible gun reforms now. We've all been paying our own money into Social Security our whole lives. Why should that money be used as a bargaining chip? No one has the right to do such a thing!
