AICA-USA Must Hire an Independent Anti-racism ConsultantArt critics can serve as reproducers of racist ideology or as agents of change. As Ibram X. Kendi's work suggests, there can be no such thing as a nonracist art critic. There are only racist art critics or anti-racist art critics. Some of AICA-USA's membership has deployed racist, hateful speech masquerading as a legitimate debate about the role of race in the discipline. AICA-USA must stop using its infrastructure to give voice to this thinly veiled white supremacist hate speech. It is time for AICA-USA to reimagine itself as an agent for equality, equity, and anti-racist change.49 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Corso-Esquivel

Rename Fifth Avenue in front of Trump Tower: "Eric Garner" or "Black Lives Matter" PlaceWashington DC recently renamed a section of Lafayette Park in honor of the Black Lives Matter movement to show support for the movement that has been embraced by so many of our citizens. We request that the New York City Mayor and City Council do the same by renaming a block of Fifth Avenue in a similar fashion to honor the memory of those lost and encourage change for the better so no citizen will suffer at the hands of those sworn to "protect and serve."92 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Keith Rutman

Congress: Remove Trump and Barr from office for First Amendment violationI have watched Trump lie and bully and dodge for 3 1/2 years, and turn the truth on its head for fun. But this is our country, and I refuse to let him use force on citizens and frighten us into complying with policy and behavior that is morally and legally wrong. How long before he uses our own soldiers to keep us from voting? Sign now!65 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kim Wallach

Make police brutality settlements come from their retirement pensionToo many police are using their power to commit murder. Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice and George Floyd are just three examples of police brutality resulting in death. There are so many more deaths of innocent people who died at the hands of those who are suppose to protect and serve and something needs to be done to stop it from happening. These poor innocent people and their families are dealing with tragedy when they don't have to.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sheri Smith

New impeachment charges against President Trump for abuse of powerBy his misuse of military personnel and weapons President Trump committed three impeachable offenses in violation of the First Amendment of the US Constitution: 1) Suppression of peaceful protesters expressing their right to freedom of speech; 2) interference with the people's guaranteed right to assemble; and 3) obstruction of citizens' acts of petitioning the Government for redress of grievances.246 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Floyd Flanagan

Body Camera a mustIn light of current events it renews the need to call for police body cameras. We, the undersigned, join Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages and Legislator Siela Bynoe in urging Nassau County Executive Laura Curran to make body cameras a priority in ongoing police union contract negotiations. Body cameras are used by law enforcement throughout this country and creates transparency by providing a factual record of what occurred in all encounters between Police Officers and civilians. We understand that Minority Leader Abrahams and Legislators Bynoe and Solages secured funding for a PILOT program for body cameras in 2014, and that this program was blocked because the former County Executive had not included the police unions in the conversations about the program. Therefore, we respectfully request that Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and her administration make body cameras a part of the ongoing collective bargaining negotiations with the Police Benevolent Association and Superior Officers Association.849 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Mimi Pierre Johnson

Attorney General Barr must resignBy ordering the forceful removal of Black Lives Matter protesters from Lafayette Square and St. John's Church property on Jun 1, 2020, solely for the purpose of facilitating an unnecessary and ill conceived photo shoot by Mr. Trump, Mr. Barr has blatantly abused the First Amendment rights of peaceful American citizens. Mr. Trump had neither notified nor received permission from the church for this photo shoot. This is both a serious abuse of power and demonstrates a clear lack of regard for safety and the Constitutional rights of American citizens. Mr. Barr no longer has the trust of the American public, as head of the US Justice Department, to ensure Justice for All!456 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Sally Small

Licensing for California police officers; police must pay settlements, not taxpayersFor decades we have watched, appalled, while the police have engaged in brutal attacks against Californians, especially if they happen to be people of color. The police are our employees. We literally pay their salaries and benefits. It is we the taxpayers who pay out huge settlements in the rare instances when the police are found guilty of engaging in brutal acts against us. Instead of working with us to stop police violence, they have exhibited a sneering disregard for our concerns and have militarized against us. It is not right that we the people are afraid of our employees and what they might do to us. That dynamic needs to be reversed. Immediate action to fix the situation is needed. Not long-term studies, not coffee meetings with local police or fruitless efforts to get them to take us seriously, not empty promises by politicians. We require the California legislature to take action NOW.186 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Celeste Langstaff
