• I want my money back
The banks, insurance companies and hedge funds stole the single most important asset of the American middle class, our home equity. It is the biggest loss of wealth in history and we know who took it, and they still have it, and we the middle class continue to struggle. I want real reform of the banking, insurance and investment laws to separate them again, make them small and local, and restore stolen gains.

  • Tell OneWest Bank to modify mortgages instead of foreclosing!
OneWest Bank is foreclosing on residential and investment properties across the United States-especially California. Why should I lose my property that I have owned since 1994 because OneWest wants to foreclose instead of modifying our loan under HAMP?? Please tell President Obama to tell OneWest Bank to stop foreclosing on our properties and give us the HAMP loan modification. It is not my fault that I got Multiple Sclerosis. Does OneWest Bank have to further ruin my life by foreclosing on my property instead of giving me the HAMP loan modification that I deserve and can afforrd to pay and keep my property that I have owned for over 18 years??!!

  • Advertising Abuses on Cable TV
This petition asks the rules about advertising be applied to cable TV. Cable TV has almost continuous advertising through pop-up windows that distract greatly from the program being watched. I notice that the actual ads do not allow channel identification because it would detract from the message.

  • Stop Drone Assassinations without due process
We are a country of laws and targeting Americans or foreigners without producing evidence or charging them, without due process, without allowing them to surrender is contrary to our founding core principles as a nation. We must uphold the values that have guided this country from the beginning and provide for the filing of charges and the judicial system to work out justice according to the evidence. We have three branches of government for a reason, to provide necessary checks and balances.

  • Abolish Appraisal Management Companies
Appraisers are being ripped off by the banks. Many banks have created AMCs which take a big bite out of the appraisal fee yet the homeowner thinks the fee goes to the appraiser at closing. Instead the fee goes to the 'Appraisal Management Company' or the bank which is a new layer of bureaucracy providing no service. The AMC and the banks live off the back of the appraiser without doing any of the work.

  • Reinstate the Glass Steagall Act
The 2008 meltdown is attributed to the deregulation of the Glass Steagall Act > Also called The Banking Act was instituted in 1933 to separate the workings of commercial and investment banks. In 1999 under Bill Clinton it was deactivated so banks could enlarge without oversight. The reinstatement of this bill is the single most important step toward a balanced economy..

  • Repeal the "Citizens United" Supreme Court Decision
"Citizens United" is a recent Supreme Court decision that basically equates corporations with people and money with speech. Both of these actions are civil rights issues, as corporations are NOT equivalent to persons, and there is not an equality of wealth from person to person or between person(s) and corporations. This is similar in nature to the 'separate but equal' arguments that supporters of apartheid gave back in the early 1960's.

  • Visa Charge to consumers
The Visa Company is trying to find loop holes in yet again trying to make an extra buck. 10 states said no, and who want to cross or wait to shop until we visit one of these states? I know for a fact that each store who does this will lose my business all around. This is just another way to make a buck, the Visa was protected by bank once and they were losing a lot of money I guess from not allowing money to be spent when folks didn't have any money. Charging all the over draft fees, when the banks knew they consumer didn't have the funds. Since check books are not used much anymore, folks just guess sometimes about their balance.

  • No cronyism in Sandy cleanup
After Sandy, Governor Christie awarded a $100 million no-bid contract for hurricane cleanup to AshBritt Inc., a Florida-based company with deep political connections and a reputation for overcharging for their services. Then AshBritt hired key political players to help convince local governments to follow the Christie Administration and give them yet more no-bid contracts. And it’s not over. The most recent contract for AshBritt doesn't just cover Sandy cleanup -- it's for all future disasters. Even worse, the head of AshBritt's lobbying firm is giving Governor Christie a $3,800 a plate fundraiser this month. This is everything that’s wrong with New Jersey politics and it has to stop. The state should cancel its contract for future work with AshBritt and investigate the Sandy cleanup process to make sure taxpayer dollars were well spent.
