  • Restrict and Control Political Action Groups and Lobbyists
PACs and Lobbyists run this country more than what is desirable in a democracy. There should be a very small allowance for Corporate donations and PACs to politicians. Lobbyists should only be allowed to contact politicians in plenary sessions.

  • Wisconsin Attorney General John B. Van Hollen Oppose Citizens United
Late last year, the Montana Supreme Court made the first crack in Citizens United by upholding a century-old state law banning direct corporate spending for or against candidates in state elections. Not long afterward, a right-wing group asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overrule that decision. Now, as the U.S. Supreme Court considers the case, the attorneys general from 22 states and D.C. have filed an amicus brief supporting Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock's bid to maintain limits on corporate spending in state elections. With nearly half of all states on board, this is the largest coordinated legal effort against Citizens United yet. Winning this lawsuit would immediately curtail the corrosive effect that unlimited corporate dollars are having on our democracy at the state level, and also be a major step toward overturning Citizens United nationwide.

  • Criminalize Excessive CEO Pay
Ronald Reagan allowed the CEO's to set their own pay scale and allowed them to be paid in stock. This has made it so CEO's who control the board's basically control their own pay. What we have seen is excessive CEO pay in the millions. The pay that they are getting is a new form of Embezzlement but it is openly accepted. Embezzlement laws should be used to put the CEO's in jail and to stop this fraudulent abuse of power.

  • Curbing Pesticide Use Through Green Label Reform
Despite the growing desire for "organic" foods in America we find ourselves more reliant on chemicals to produce our food than ever. Part of the problem is the extremely flawed organic labeling system in place. The organic label is inadequate at resolving the multiplicity of standards that create consumer confusion and undermine certification integrity while preserving the ability for labeling methods to target a wide range of environmental and public health issues. Our solution is to divide and sub-categorize this process into more specific narrowly defined certifications designed for consumer clarity and the realistic ability to regulate and enforce, under this model “pesticide free” would be only one of many new labels put into practice.

  • Do Not Use Public Funds For An Arena In Sodo
The city wants us to help pay for a multi-purpose arena in Sodo district of Seattle. We've been through this before, and last time we were ignored getting stuck with the Safeco Field bill. Why should we have to pay for something that many people in the city won't even be using? We've got to tell Mayor McGinn to put the breaks on this one and withdrawal public funding of this.

  • Abolish Corporate Personhood
Support a proposed US Constitutional amendment that would abolish corporate personhood that resulted from the 2010 Supreme Court decision on "free speech" for corporations, unions, and other incorporated groups that wanted to give endless amounts of money to campaigns. It's really perverse that corporations are now protected by the Bill of Rights.
