Rental properties continue to raise the rent while the economy is in such a poor state. Which means the big rental corporations are making millions of dollars while the "middle to lower class" people are struggling to keep a roof over their heads. I think its unjust and Obama should force rental properties to lower the rent to a amount where it's a third of the average income.

The majority of our states are "At will" employment states. While it is understandable that the term "At Will" means that you may terminate your employment whthout cause, employers also have the right to terminate your employment without cause. For EMPLOYEES that have been terminated for truly doing nothing wrong, it is extremely detremental in their efforts to find and secure future employment. The fact that future employers see a termination on your employment records biases their desire to employ you, whether you were at fault or not. I believe that employers must prove that an employee was truly in violation of company policy before they are terminated.

My petition is about fairness when it comes to taxes. Urge congress to remove tax breaks for the very wealthy (those who make more than $250,000.00 per year) and large corporations (those that make more than 1 million dollars per year). Then, we can work toward a more balanced budget with not sacrificing funding for important things like education and healthcare.

The Postal Service wants to Consolidate Plants and Small Rural Post Offices. Lower the Service standard of the First Class Mail Letter. Post Office management has made clear that if Congress doesn't take action before May 15, the USPS will begin to dismantle the Mail processing network. By 2015, the USPS plans to eliminate more than half of all mail processling plants. This problem was created by congress in 2006 when it voted to require the Postal Service to pre-fund 75 years worth of future retiree health benefits over a ten year period- a burden no other government or private company has to do. Everyone should join the struggle by calling, writling, e-mailing or visiting your senators immediatelly.

When elected as a government official, you are automatically guaranteed a life-long pension- even if you only served a two year term. Yet, as a middle class American receiving barely above minimum wage, you are lucky to find a job that offers a 401k or even health benefits. It is important that these outrageous pensions- which are more than the average American's yearly salary!- be abolished...especially since they come out of OUR tax dollars.

Taxes. The unequal tax burden from the One Percent verses the 99 Percent. Money talks and we need to have a voice to stamp out Rich Greed. No more Robin Hood. Fair taxes because the tricle down theory has not work for 2 decades.

If Georgia is the highest rate for unemployment and home foreclosures, then credit will be altered extremely. Employers should not deny individuals employment for low credit scores. Most times the credit score is low because of job loss, illness, and extenuating circumstances that people have no control of!

Reduce Military Spending

If the Republicans refuse to allow the rich to pay their fair share of taxes, then how are we to get this economy back to thriving standards. Only the rich who hord all the money and then claim not to have any, are the ones who can keep this country's economy thriving. If they refuse, they should be voted out of power and allow the other side to create jobs and put America back to work and create fair share taxes for everyone, not just a select few.

For the last twenty years, the US has been shipping its manufacturing jobs overseas through free trade agreements. We need to put American's needs first and bring all of these jobs home now.

If we end the Bush Tax Cut, which gives tax breaks to the rich, we will collect over 500 Billion dollars in the next 10 years.

According to SourceWatch, State Farm Insurance is a major supporter of ALEC, the group that came up with "model legislation" adopted by a number of Republican-led state legislatures such as the Stand Your Ground law in Florida, voter ID laws that disenfranchise poor, elderly and minority voters, and the attacks on unions in Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana. State Farm is different from most of the other members of ALEC because it is not investor-owned. State Farm is a mutual benefit corporation, a kind of financial cooperative, which means that it is owned by its policy-holders, pooling their money to provide insurance services. The money it gives to ALEC rightfully belongs to its policyholder-owners, and State Farm has no right to use it to fund ALEC's right-wing agenda.
