• Support African American Advertising and Communications Business
The advertising business has a dismal record of hiring and promoting African Americans. Industry statistics support less then 6% are hired in the industry. Many major companies that have government contract refuse to hire Black owned firms. The industry is made up of mostly small firms that hire people that look like them. The African American owned firms are the only opportunities for minorities to get a start in the industry. The goverment and corporations must choose to make a difference in this area. This is an opportunity to for government to do something about the high unemployement in the Black Community. We are calling on the government to take a stand for African American owned firms by contracting directly with African American owned advertising, graphic design and communications firms.

  • Jobs and wages
My petition is about jobs and wages. Prices are going up. I feel if prices are going up, our wages should increase so people that are making minimum wage or a little over could keep up with the economy. People should sign this so they can see how many people struggle with their nickle and dime jobs and our wages have yet to increase so we can keep up.

  • No Walmart in Tigard Oregon
Tigard Oregon is a suburb of the Portland Oregon metro area. Tigard is supported by local caring people who shop local businesses, and have done their best to keep Walmart out of our town. Now the Tigard City Council and Mayor have approved a deal allowing Walmart to enter into the city where concerned citizens have repeatedly pushed Walmart out. Again Walmart has behind the scenes negotiated for a store that will not only lower property values, destroy local businesses, increase traffic exponentially in a area that is already overloaded with traffic, take away more living wage jobs and take money out of our community. • Reform Prop 13
Prop 13 is broken and has been starving our state of desperately needed revenues unfairly. Proposition 13 has done a great job to protect the elderly etc from being forced from their homes by skyrocketing property taxes, but most people don't know that it disproportionately favors corporations. The majority of our property taxes used to come from business property, but now it comes from residential property. This must stop.

  • The so-called JOBS ACT is for 1%
This is not a job creating act, it will repeal major portions of laws designed to stop corruption. It will almost completely demolish Dodd-Frank. Urge President Obama to not sign this law.

  • Issues Being debated in Trenton
Being a concerned senior citizen (age 90), I am keenly aware of the agenda Gov. Christie has in mind that will infringe on my well being: ie., the issuing of school vouchers; negative health-care adjustments; the curtailing of funding for teachers and librarians that will result in job loss and will certainly affect the future of my grandchildren and great-gramdchildren!

  • jobs program
I call on Governor Snyder and the Michigan legislature to invest in a jobs program in this state. Michigan continues to have high unemployment. This situation has been tolerated for far too long. Instead of giving tax breaks to people who don't need it. Let's use that money to put more Michigan residents back to work rebuilding our infrastructure, alternative energy projects, etc.

  • Veterans Clearance to Work
With Veteran unemployment extremely high, this "GI bill" educated populace is running into roadblocks. The Federal Government is cutting budgets/jobs and highly technical jobs require an active Security Clearance in the private sector. My petition is to have injured veterans reinstated to previous clearance or waive the clearance costs of the employer to get Veterans hired.

  • Tell AZ lawmakers to oppose bills that hurt jobless workers and their families and our communities
In Arizona, unemployment insurance as we know it is on the chopping block. Tens of thousands of Arizonans are currently unemployed. They are our friends, neighbors and family members who are struggling to find work. But instead of helping create good jobs, extreme legislators in Phoenix have proposed a slew of destructive bills this year—blaming jobless workers and their families for an economic downturn they didn’t create. Mean spirited politicians are pushing three bills, SB 1495 and HB 2150 and 2519, that are a one-two-three punch to the stomach of unemployed workers and their families. These bills would require unemployed workers to pass drug tests to get their unemployment insurance, increase the wage requirements by 100% for Arizonans to be eligible to receive insurance benefits and make it easier for employers to claim a worker is an independent contractor and, therefore, not eligible for unemployment insurance. It's time for Arizona lawmakers to stop these attacks and focus on real policies that create good jobs for Arizonans.

  • 2011 Personal Income Tax Forgiveness Act
Many hardworking, tax-paying, citizens are burdened with payments to both the state and federal government by the personal income tax. These taxes amount to trillions of dollars and drain much needed cash from the U.S. private economy. Much of the money raised by the personal income tax is subject to corruption and influence by moneyed lobbyists - the funds don't much benefit those of us who pay it. Sign this petition to demand congress forgive the 2011 tax liabities and give the money back to the people!
