Governor Jerry Brown, save in-class learning in the UC, Cal State, and Community College systems.I heard that Jerry Brown wants to save money by phasing out in class learning in the UC, Cal State, and California Community College systems, replacing it with online learning. I just got a Ph.D,, so I am trying to get a job as a professor, so I want jobs open for me. In addition, students who have to learn in an online only format cannot build the personal relationship that they need to with professors. While online learning can supplement in class learning, online learning should not replace in class learning.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Aaron Karsh

Make State Tests for handicapped children fair.In order to qualify for services as a "handicapped student", most students must be functioning a miinimum of two years behind their expected grade level. Currently students must take State Tests on their expected grade level instead of at their functioning level. This is setting our most vulnerable students up for failure, as well as skewing the annual yearly progress made by our students. Students with handicapping conditions should not be assessed in such an unfair way.281 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Suzanne F. Jordan

Minnesota restore absent days...My daughter attends daycare. We receive funds from the Minnesota Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP). The Minnesota CCAP has decreased the number of absents a child can have before a single mom like myself will be responsible to pay for days absent. The reason we apply for CCAP is because we can’t afford the days present, let alone the days absent. Early Childhood Education should be a priority that ensures that all children have a solid educational foundation without the threat of termination. Children get sick, life happens, and we all need more than 10 days a year to allow that which we have no control over to take place.50 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Charisma Smith

Gun ControlDear Mr. Perry , I am seriously concerned about the state of gun control here in the state of Texas. Too many people want to arm teachers and administraters in the schools, this is a bad idea. I have a lot of friends who are teachers. It would be so easy for kids to overpower the teacher with the gun and then turn that gun on the teacher. Instead I propose that we put xray machines on all campuses, elementary, junior high, high school and colleges , that would determine if an individual was bringing a gun or a weapon onto the campus. Thank you for your time, sincerely a concerned citizen of Texas, Danelle Northum3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Danelle Northum

Eliminate for-profit public schoolsOur tax dollars should not be going to public charter schools run by for-profit companies. These schools hurt our state by lowering the salaries of public school teachers and taking state per-pupil funding away from districts. These for-profit charter schools are not increasing student achievement when compared to district schools in the same area, but less state funding goes to education as more goes to administration and corporations' profit margins.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Wade Davis

Allow educational private loans to be consolidated the same way as federal loans. Our current education system is too expensive and many young students must now use private loans to cover their tuition gap. According to the pew report in 2010, 70% of total debt was owed by households headed by those under 45. The average national debt per student was $26,000 dollars in 2010. All trends point towards increased borrowing to keep pace with the rocketing cost of education. Personally I owe over 50,000 dollars in private loans from my masters degree. Four of my loans have high variable interest rates and none of these loans can be consolidated for better rates or terms of repayment. Students are graduating into a dismal job market with overwhelming debt, and high variable interest rates. It's time to give graduates a break and offer the same benefits provided by the federal government.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Aaron Torres

STOP THE SALE OF LSUHSC IN SHREVEPORTLSUHSC in Shreveport was not losing money for the state of Louisiana, and yet. Bobby Jindal is unfairly selling us to the "highest bidder" putting those who need a state funded hospital at risk of having no where to go for health care.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Patricia Daniel
