• Shut Pilgrim!
The Cape and Islands are an incredible place to visit, and even more so to live. Unfortunately, our lives here are threatened by the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth which has had numerous leaks lately. The power station has the same design that Fukushima had. Pilgrim pulls over 500 million gallons of water from Cape Cod Bay daily. The water is returned, much hotter, after cooling the reactor, thus killing countless fish and marine organisms which violates the Endangered Species Act. The state has admitted that in case of emergency at the plant, they would close the bridges, cutting off the Cape from any chance of evacuation by land. The plant needs to be closed NOW. Please sign our petition and let Gov. Patrick know you want to protect our beautiful Cape Cod and Islands, and that you want this addressed immediately.

  • Republicans Attack National Park Service: Your Help Needed
The National Park Service is composed of dedicated men and women who operate our National Park System with the upmost care and without deference to the political leanings of its visitors. They are the guardians of our national treasures. Like our men and women in military uniform, we need to protect them from political attacks. Please join me in signing this petition calling upon Republicans in Congress to stop the attacks against the National Park Service

  • Put Science First In Protecting Our Water (Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OA-2013-0582)
For years, deniers of sound science have rejected everything from global warming to pollutants in our waterways. This approach has led to a significant rollback in key clean water protections: more than 59 percent of U.S. streams and 20 million acres of wetlands are vulnerable to toxic dumping and pollution. Fortunately, the Environmental Protection Agency has taken steps to address this error by relying on sound science to help restore these key protections. The EPA needs to hear from you: speak out for sound science and clean water. The EPA’s preliminary scientific report confirms that streams, wetlands, and floodplains—regardless of their size or how frequently they flow—are connected to downstream waters. The EPA must finalize this report and follow the science by restoring protections to waters that supply drinking water to 117 million Americans. Simply put, we need stronger protections for these critical watersheds. Your ability to fish in, swim in, and drink clean water is at stake! The Clean Water Act is our nation’s best guard against dirty and contaminated waters. Earthjustice has been working to defend and enforce the Clean Water Act for decades. Please join us in urging the EPA to finalize its Science Report quickly; follow its conclusions regarding the importance of ALL streams, wetlands, and open waters to U.S. waterways; and apply sound science to restore protections to these critical and interconnected water bodies.

  • No Northern Route of the ATC Badger Coulee line
Petition to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin regarding American Transmission Company application5-CE-142 (Active) and their proposal to Construct and Operate a New 345 kV Transmission Line from the La Crosse area, in La Crosse County to the Greater Madison area in Dane County, Wisconsin. The project is Referred to as the Badger Coulee Project. In signing this petition I hereby request the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to drop the proposed "Northern Route" of the ATC proposed Badger Coulee Line, that would adversely and negatively affect the Town of Holland. This would be the second time in the past 3 years that a power line would run through our beautiful community, and it is not needed and not wanted. We do not deserve to become a grid for power line companies to route their power East. By signing this petition, we fully support the attached comprehensive letter of opposition that the Town of Holland Citizens Energy Committee is submitting to the power line companies and to the PSC.

  • Recycle Symbol on All Plastic Bags and Plastic Containers
Having a recycling symbol on all recyclable bags and plastics will help reduce the accumulating trash. If an item is not recyclable it should be marked so that people are aware that it will become part of the landfills. This would encourage companies to find recyclable solutions to their packaging.

  • SAVE PROPOSITION A and STOP OIL DRILLING IN OUR OPEN SPACES
In the early and mid 90's Proposition A which was sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors was passed by a majority of the Los Angeles County taxpayers. Part of Prop A a park proposition was used for acquiring land as Open Spaces and to keep it that way for perpetuity (forever) and for upgrading parks. Now, the Whittier City Council wants to turn the Open Space land into an oil field. They are trying to change the "land use" for the land which was purchased with Prop A money. If Whittier is successful then all Open Space land that was purchased with Los Angeles County Prop A money can have their land use changed to oil fields. This could have a ripple effect throughout the State of California by allowing land use changes on land in the State that was purchased with similar propositions. On October 29, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will be having a Public Hearing on Prop A. The purpose of the hearing is to get public input on changing the "land use" into an oil field. WE OPPOSE THE OIL PROJECT AND LAND USE CHANGES. We urge you to attend the meeting if at all possible. In the event you cannot attend you can make your comments on this petition and it will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has the power to stop this project. Can't Drill Can't Frack. Location: Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration Executive Office of the Board Room 383 500 West Temple Street Los Angeles, Ca. 90012

  • Recycling at Five Guys Fast Food Restaurant
Almost all of the packaging used at Five Guys is paper; paper bags, paper french fry containers, paper napkins, etc.; but all of it is just thrown away. If the option to recycle was introduced into the Five Guys restaurants, paper waste could be almost completely abolished. This would not only save considerable landfill space, but also reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • President Obama: Prevent Climate Chaos and Adopt the Solutions Project
The Solutions Project has plans on how to use cost-effective, clean, renewable energy using current technology to power the country. Shovel-ready projects are already available for the states of California and New York with plans for the remaining 48 states coming fast on their heels. Humans face an unprecedented choice: we either adopt this plan to secure a planet for our children and grandchildren or we can do nothing and continue burning fossil fuels which will guarantee climate chaos .

  • No fracking in Allegheny, PA Parks!
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald is planning on allowing fracking on or under our parks. Fracking our parks would industrialize land reserved for recreation and relaxation, bringing dangerous and polluting infrastructure such as pipelines, compressor stations and truck traffic right through our community's public spaces. Fracking is destroying communities around Pennsylvania. We need to keep this dangerous practice out of Allegheny County parks.
