Passing a law regulating the use of plastic bags in Michigan will be a major step in aesthetically improving our communities while reducing the expense of plastic bag disposal. Furthermore, the regulation of plastic bag use would promote Michigan as truly being “Pure”. We use plastic bags for minutes, yet they persist in our environment for hundreds of years. The average person uses 360 single-use plastic bags every year. Despite efforts to expand recycling programs, less than 5% of single-use plastic bags are currently being recycled nationwide. The rest of these bags inevitably end up in our landfill or as litter, clogging storm drain systems, and making their way to the Great Lakes. Plastic bags entangle or are ingested by lake wildlife and shore birds, as well as break down into small bits that persist in the ecosystem and may move through the food chain if ingested by fish.

This concerns fracking in the State of California. I am a California resident, born and raised!

I am 24 years old. I have had a total of four miscarriages. I was only able to carry my son to 34 weeks because we had started with twins. We have done some tests and found out that I have low progesterone. There is not history of this in my family. My family is quite fertile. I want to leave a Roundup-free and healthy food supply for my son and future children and give them the hope of being able to have their own healthy families. That means we need to act now. We shouldn't have to wait until 2015 for answer, and then more years for a result. We need to do something now. Please sign my petition, and spare our children some of the pain and suffering we are allowing them.

Please do not allow fracking in Illinois. The southern part of the state is beautiful with designated wetlands and biodiversity. It is also the homeland of many diverse animjal species. I just visited this part of the state. Instead, we should be trying to promote tourism as opposed to ruining the precious land. Thank-you, Jeanette Alexander

Fracking is an extreme process with catastrophic results. It involves injecting massive amounts of water and toxic chemicals into the ground to reach inaccessible oil and gas. This process threatens our water, our air, our farms, and health—and our planet. This issue affects everyone. If we ban fracking, it will also make it easier for other states to stand up and do so as well.

You don't know what will or can happen---much research into these projects needs done. Let's research alternative energy.

As a mother of two, I am concerned about the future of CA if fracking is allowed. How can injecting massive amounts of water and toxic chemicals into the ground to reach oil and gas be in the best interest of the citizens of CA, in particular our children? There are other cleaner, more responsible ways to generate energy. Please stand up to the oil and gas industries and stand with the citizens of CA who OPPOSE fracking.

Fracking is an extremely toxic method of extracting oil and natural gas from the ground. It pollutes not only the earth, but water and air as well, as toxic chemicals and water are forcefully pumped underground to force out oil and natural gas. Please add your voice and tell our elected officials in California that we want this destructive, polluting method banned in California--they will only take action on our behalf if they hear from us.
