Update N.C. Cemetery LawsAt present, N.C. cemetery laws do not address the establishment of 'conservation (or natural) burial grounds', which combine much-needed land conservation with a 'green' cemetery. Polls show that many 'baby boomers', such as myself, would choose this method of burial if it were available to them. We would be grateful to the cemetery commission if current regulations were amended to make this possible for citizens of our state.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marti Utter

Central Hudson Gas & Electric - don't stop Solar Net Metering! One of New York State's major electric/gas utility companies, Central Hudson Gas & Electric, has been noted for its promotion of solar energy and allowing its utility customers to interconnect their solar energy systems to the utility grid and sell solar electricity back to the grid using net metering. However, a few weeks back Central Hudson suddenly reached its net metering limit cap of 12 MW and is no longer allowing any customers to interconnect their solar energy equipment to the grid via net metering. This shortsighted and unrealistically low cap of only 12 MW imposed by the PSC goes totally against Governer Cuomo's goals of doubling and quadrupling solar installations in the next 2 years in NY. Solar companies in the region have already been badly affected and will soon have to lay off staff and maybe even close down unless the limit is raised and net metering applications are again allowed to be processed. Neighboring states have far surpassed New York's solar installation figures which are comparatively very low due to these types of bureaucratic hurdles. We hope this petition will bring the problem to the attention of the NY state government so they can rectify the net metering cap and allow the proliferation of the solar sector in New York.40 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lotus Energy - Solar Energy Systems

ZERO POINT ELECTRICAL GENERATION NOWZero Point electrical generation has been demonstrated by several physicists and electrical engineers including Nikola Tesla, Thomas Bearden and colleagues, and by Adam Douglas Trombley. The environmental movement has focused on solar, hydro, wind, ocean wave motion. Zero Point technology has been ignored, yet is exponentially more efficient than any other alternative.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Beeken

No Shell drilling in the ArcticAs an Alaskan, I watched our state suffer through Exxon Valdez disaster. The inevitable disaster that awaits us in the Arctic will be far worse. Temperatures 60 below, winds 50 knots, seas 30ft, things will go terribly wrong. It's only a matter of when.403 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Fay Wilbur

Stop 200 Acre Farm From Coming To Downtown Detroit! The Hantz Farm, a proposed farm that may have ties to Monsanto, the GMO's and deadly pesticides superpower, is planning on setting up a 200 acre farm in the city of Detroit. There are already (literally) thousands of local-urban farms/community gardens here in Detroit (all had to comply with very strict guidelines), but the Mayor Bing wants to override those guidelines and allow Hantz to do as the company pleases. The mayor has also agreed that if the farm is unsuccessful, Mr Hantz would be allowed to tear down the farm and build anything desired - even factories! Luckily the Detroit City Council is stalling the agreement, but I'm sure we won't have much time before time runs out! Through the mayor's eyes, this is a good opportunity to create jobs in the city. Jobs are good, but polluting the city from the run off of farm chemicals is not acceptable. In addition, nor is the fact that this farm will destroy the successful farms already running in the city! Furthermore, what's to say that Hantz's factory farm won't do to Detroit, as the auto companies did: export our jobs, or just leave when a better tax rate comes along! The true concern to me is not the issue of a corporation vs independant, but more about the health and well being of my fellow Detroiters. At the moment, it doesn't appear there is a 'direct' connection with Monsanto, yet the CEO Michael Score, that Hantz has put in charge of the farm does have former ties to the behemoth... There doesn't seem to be a plan to bring Monsanto in, but there is no reason they wouldn't. Ten things to consider ( facts via http://boggsblog.org/2012/07/13/media-questions-by-shea-howell/): First, what is the rush? Since the current plan is to grow hard wood trees that mature for profit in 60 years, why the push for a decision now? Why should Hantz be exempt from the public processes that draws on the experience and wisdom of current urban gardens, City Planning, and more than two years of work in negotiation with state and local authorities? Second, why should Hantz be given preferential treatment to buy land? Why shouldn’t this land be made available to current residents and urban farmers? Third, what are the ecological and social implications of selling over 200 acres of land to one individual for large scale industrial level agriculture? How will this affect the local, small-scale growers? The ecosystems? Fourth, why should the City agree to sell land far below its current estimated value? Buried in the Wall Street Journal article was this sentence, “Hantz is offering on $300 a parcel, one-tenth of what city officials wanted.” Fifth, why is Hantz reluctant to sign a development agreement with the City, indicating how they would use the land after 5 years? Sixth, what is the role of the Kresge Foundation in all of this? They are frequently referred to as a partner. What does this mean? What other foundations are involved? How? Seventh, why has Hantz’s commitment to Detroit not included moving any of his Southfield business operations into the city? Eighth, Hantz is quoted in business outlets saying, Detroit “cannot create value until we create scarcity.” He claims, “Large-scale farming could begin to take land out of circulation in a positive way.” What does this mean? Positive for whom? How does this relate to the Mayor-Foundation initiative to shrink the City? Ninth, what are the long term implications of the “tax credits and state assistance” that Hantz is expecting to receive? Tenth, is Hantz willing to work with the community to develop a community reinvestment agreement, establishing principles and practices that will benefit the surrounding community in exchange for assuming public resources?6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jeff Witters

BP, Chevron, Exxon, Canada, Keystone PipelineAnyone else had more than enough of one Oil Exploring Blow ups, Shipping Wrecks, Refining Pollution and Other Transportation Oil Spills on our Land, Fresh Water and Ocean? Think 1 minute why the USA sends thousands of Our Troops to Middle Eastern Countries and Africa. Our troops can come home to USA. We still pay more and more for gasoline and heating oil. Why? Why would anyone line a rich man's pockets? Why do you ? Solar Grid Fields produce Electricity by storing the Sun's (Free of Charge Rays) Energy. It costs pennies to store and transmit since the power lines already exist. Solar Grids will never blow up, or spill toxins or pollute water.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by N. Wchorski

bill mckibben secretary of the environmentI have been seriously affected by the polution in our environment. I suffered from endometriosis for years. That disease has been linked to petroleum spills in the ocean that sea creatures such as fish and crustacians eat that subsequently cause the disease in humans who eat them. Also, I am a Nyabinghi Rasta and I am a raw vegan. I believe that Bill Mckibben deserves a cabinet position as secretary of the environment. He has worked tirelessly through his organization 350.org to fight the petroleum industry from damaging our ozone and to stop their greedy desire to kill our beautiful and wonderful planet earth. Please sign this petition and let's move on to creating a cabinet position as secretary of the environment for our beloved brother Bill Mckibben. Solar Covered Cars for Indefinite Drive Power! We The People of America want electric cars, we want to save oil and gas for other needs. Cars however can now work on Lithiam Batteries, and these can be recycled. The auto industry and big oil may take the profits for creating this idea. Where ever you have paint on a car, that is to be built in with solar power. As you drive the battery will be charging by the sun and by the turbine. You may keep the Emergeny Electric Charge, yet because the car sits outside idle in the sun, it will always be charged. For those men who want to hear Vaa-Roooom! and other sound effects when they push the petal to the metal, we can install sound effects, and even vibration to mimic a muscle care, or whatever sound effect you want? This will work. The cars can be any design even 18 wheel trucks. If there is not a patent for the Solar Car, I claim it was invented on 7 27 2012 by Thomas A Sutor This is something we can implement now, it will reduce heat in traffic jams, it will reduce pollution by 99% in all cities, and it will start a revolution of new jobs that will put Americans back to work, so we may begin to re-invent our economy. Once again, Big Oil and Auto Makers will make Billions if not Trillions while helping the Global Warming regardless of what is causing our planet to get hotter, we don't need to add Billions of heat generating motors, and exhaustion that causes cancer. I ask you as a Registered Voter to bring this proposal and make it law. There is no need to use oil for vehicles in this day and age. Nor, will it destroy the CEO's and it could justify the Tax Cuts we give big oil because they would start to look at the long term needs of their own grand children. I sign this petition, so it will be on the ballot of a special election to just vote on ballots that have the required number of voters signatures.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Johnny Exodice

350.org Tour 2012350.org is planning a Tour of the US to further up-the-ante as we take on the Fossil Fuel Industry. We feel that Maine should be a stop along the Tour. Given the host of social-economic-political AND environmental issues active in the state - including incredible accomplishments (and creativity) - Maine is "the way life should be..." - and an important stop for the 350.org Traveling Road Show to see! See Bill McKibben's recent announcement of the Tour here: www.facebook.com/350.Maine See this link to share your own personal desires and interest: http://act.350.org/survey/tour-help/?akid=2097.579720.5dqcIZ&rd=1&t=2380 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Bob Klotz
