Voting Rights for all AmericansI am starting this petition because the Republicans in Wasington and the states are doing everything they can to prevent or make it more difficult for all Americans, especially citizensnof color to vote. This includes photo Ids, kicking off citizens of voter rolls and reducing the number of polling places requiring voters to stand in lines for hours.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Charles Stewart

End Gerrymandering PetitionControl of government by citizens begins with citizen involvement at the ballot box. Currently, voters do not choose their candidates--candidates choose their voters by gerrymandering to pack the voters they want into their districts and creating illogical and inconvenient districts for their opponents, making it difficult to serve these districts if they win. Gerrymandering also is designed to disenfranchise specific groups by creating districts where their vote is watered down.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Martha Kay Spinks

Amendment to Congressional Term LengthsCongressional gridlock has prevented necessary action by our Government for nearly 40 years. This term length change could provide the elected representatives of the People true freedom to focus on finding solutions to our collective needs through time free from campaigning. If we elect even number districts in the Presendential election year, and odd numbers in the midterms, only half of Congress will ever be distracted from work by election needs, maintaining a more consistant working environment in Washington, DC.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by JP Eastridge

Move to end gerrymanderingIt has been reported that over 58% of Wisconsin citizens strongly disagree with the unfairness of the way the GOP has gerrymandered Wisconsin voting districts. Now that the GOP state legislature is trying to limit the new Dem. Governor's power, one of the concerns is that the GOP is simply trying to make it impossible to redraw our voting districts in a fair and non-partisan manner. Do you oppose this legislative action against fair redistricting?231 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Henry Leonard

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard(D-Hawaii) for Speaker of the House.Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, well known for her support of legislation that benefits her Corporate donors, and her opposition to legislation that would benefit the working class, such as Medicare for All, has made it clear that if elected Speaker of the House, she will support her "Pay Go" legislation, by which the only Congressional laws that will pass and become Appropriation Bills for the Public Purpose are those that have already been budgeted for. This would cripple most of the progressive agenda as it was just proposed by Senator Bernie Sanders. It also reveals an appalling lack of knowledge about how our Fiscal Government, possesor of a Sovereign, Fiat currency, can and does issue through the Fed, "de novo", the money appropriated by Congress. Therefore her whole argument for Pay Go as a way to avoid larger deficits is totally baseless. The truth is, whenever trillions of dollars are needed to fund the Pentagon's requests for ever more expensive weapons, or to subsidize the 0.1% richest americans thru massive tax breaks, no one in Congress ever objects. But if the money is needed to fund Medicare For All, stronger social safety net, free public college education, a needed transition to clean energy or infrastructure repairs, a chorus of voices claims there is no money for that. This is why we strongly oppose Rep. Pelosi and support instead Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a consistent and clear voice in support of progressive causes for the benefit of all Americans, the Working Class and our Environment, to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives,40 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ernesto C. Tell Rep. Kathleen Rice to support Nancy Pelosi and Barbara LeeOur Congresswoman Kathleen Rice is a member of a group of right-wing Democrats who have been fighting to block Nancy Pelosi from becoming Speaker of the House. They are calling for leadership change without clearly articulating a vision for this country. Considering their past votes and actions, we are concerned that their call for change is an attempt to make the House leadership more conservative, less diverse, and more beholden to corporate interests. Rice has supported raising the retirement age, banning refugees, rolling back Obama regulations on Wall Street, and gutting the Americans with Disabilities Act. She also took tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Donald Trump at the height of his racist birther campaign against President Obama. Pelosi has been one of the most effective Speakers in history. She was responsible for the passing of the Affordable Care Act, stimulus package, Dodd-Frank Wall Street reforms, and fair pay. The Congressional Progressive Caucus, MoveOn, Indivisible, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and other progressive groups all support Pelosi for Speaker. She is the best chance to get progressive legislation debated and passed in the House. We are also calling on Rice to support Rep. Barbara Lee, a lifelong progressive, as Democratic Caucus Chair. She would be the first African-American woman to serve in House leadership.241 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Young Progressives of Nassau County

House should focus on investigating Trump as first priorityAfter seeing current state of country, I have doubts America's democracy can survive after trump presidency. We need to get back on our feet and be the beacon of hope and model of democracy across world. That is more important on boosting corporate profit or any other short term focused issues. We must protect the true intent of democracy.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chida Khatua

Elect Barbara Lee to House LeadershipWe are organizers who represent working-class communities of color all around America. Our government still does not represent the interests of our people, and we need leaders in Washington, D.C. who will fight for equity, justice, and peace. It’s time to put the #LeeInLeadership. The election is Wednesday, November 28th, so there’s no time to waste. Please sign today. In September 2001, every member of the House and Senate voted to give the president a blank check to fight endless wars. All except one, that is. Progressive champion Rep. Barbara Lee stood alone and predicted that the war would expand and damage America's moral reputation. Now, she is running to be Chair of the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives – and we need to make sure her colleagues understand the need for her progressive leadership, support her candidacy, and make her the first Black woman in the leadership of either Party. We need stronger leadership in the House, and Rep. Barbara Lee is the perfect choice. She is: - A consistent progressive champion who supports bold yet commonsense ideas like Medicare for All and a living wage. -A gutsy and principled representative who opposed the Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) in 2001 despite knowing the backlash would lead to death threats. -A proven leader who has led the Congressional Progressive Caucus and Congressional Black Caucus and been vice chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus. -A consensus builder and doer who has worked across the aisle in support of progressive goals like repealing the AUMF or saving lives by pushing to increase HIV/AIDS federal funding under Bush. -As Rep. Lee put it: “It’s time. African-American women have been the smartest and most loyal voters for the Democratic Party, and often we don’t get the recognition or the involvement at the highest levels.” Rep. Lee has already announced her candidacy for chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fifth-ranking position. We need to make our voices heard – and now, while representatives are still making up their minds. The election is Wednesday, November 28th, so we don’t have much time to convince the members of Congress that we need #LeeInLeadership. Tell House Democrats: Make Rep. Barbara Lee a caucus leader. Thank you for speaking out.959 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Ady Barkan, Ai-jen Poo, Alicia Garza, Alyssa Milano, Linda Sarsour, Shaun King

The People of Florida Deserve Their Voices to Be Heard with: RANKED CHOICE VOTINGRanked choice voting allows voters to rank as many candidates as they want in order of choice--first, second, third, and so on. All first choices are counted, and if a candidate has a majority, then they win, just like any other election. However if nobody has a majority, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, and those voters have their ballot instantly count for their next choice. This process continues until a candidate receives a majority of votes, and is declared the winner. In 2016, Maine voters voted “yes” on a ballot question to adopt ranked choice voting for all statewide elections. In doing so, they became the first state to make vote-splitting and the concept of “spoiler candidates” a thing of the past. Other cities and states should follow their lead. Ranked choice voting gives you the freedom to vote for the candidate you like the best without worrying you'll help to elect the candidate you like the least. We are asking the elected officials in the state of Florida to let the people's voices be heard and allow RANKED CHOICE VOTING in all Florida elections.
