• Congress Should Veto-Proof Itself
If enough members of Congress would agree to do this, it would restore the authority of Congress, which the people who drafted our Constitution intended to be the most powerful of the three branches. It would put needed limits on the imperial presidency we have seen under recent administrations of both parties.

  • End Government Shutdowns
I don't think it's fair to use the citizens of the United States as hostages in budget negotiations. I think if Congress couldn't adjourn until they reached an agreement, it would certainly speed up the negotiation process. Congress should be constitutionally mandated to reach agreement on all budget issues without adjourning. This would lessen or prevent any future Government Shutdowns.

  • Eliminate Electoral College
Current and past presidents have been elected by a minority. This is not the democratic way. We've seen the results of gerrymandering and it breeds divisiveness in our populace. Let's at least have a President that we can all agree has been elected by the people, not by the electoral college.

  • Pets are NOT Property in Indiana
In May of 2018, my little rescue dog, Trouble, was blinded in one eye, during a routine dental procedure by a local veterinarian in Valparaiso, IN. I was not informed of his injury by the Valpo Veterinarian. Three days later, an ophthalmologist in West Lafayette diagnosed his eye as being traumatically ruptured. With infection building in both eyes now, Trouble's ruptured eye was immediately removed. For three months, Trouble had to be forced fed while he fought off multiple secondary infections and dehydration. While Trouble nearly died, the Valpo veterinarian is not legally accountable for his negligence in the State of Indiana. Why? Because Trouble is considered property! - Like your couch or chair!! Well, our Pets are NOT Property. They are cherished family members and should have rights and there should be accountability for injury or death at the hands of Indiana licensed Professional animal service providers! Let's Change this outdated Law Together! PETS ARE NOT PROPERTY IN INDIANA!

  • Support Texas House Bill 595 "911 Bill"
I am starting this petition because I feel this bill is needed and could possibly save lives. The types of calls made to 911 should be for emergencies and where there are life and death scenarios. We are witnessing our tax dollars going to waste by individuals calling 911 on people who are not committing any crimes but are only participating in daily activities such as walking, gardening, studying, and talking to their friends. Making frivolous calls to 911 ends up taking time and resources from callers that actually need help.

  • Stop the YMCA in New Market Township
We are concerned with the amount of additional traffic on both 230th and 240th street. The plans seem to be unclear and change based on questions the people of the township have had: to name a few, Hours of operations, amount of traffic, facility offering. We feel the addition of the YMCA is not offering the township anything. This has been asked at evey meeting and the YMCA has not been able to answer the question. The YMCA will offer nothing to the township from a tax benefit, it will cost the township money in years to come , examples include, but not limited to, Road repair, additional police and fire, and we will lose the rural setting we reside in . We feel this is against our township Mission; "working together to promote fiscally responsible growth, improve the level of service, and preserve the unique heritage of the town we call home." This will be much more than a Day camp. It was explained that the camp would have 500 kids, its clear long term that is not the plan, the proposal has growth written several times. The 10 Fulltime horses and 90 rental horses. This suggests that this is more than a day camp for kids. This is building a business. For residents that is additional traffic, trucks, trailers, and cars for the horse owners. They will want to ride, feed and take care of their animals, all week long and all year long. Again the residents were told this is a summer camp that is Monday - Friday 7:30am - 5:30pm. The parking lot will hold 150-200 cars, this is in addition to the busses that has been suggested. This also suggests more than a day camp for kids. Winter Buildings for Farm to table events. More business opportunities and does this mean companies, families can rent this space to host events? Yes it does, Additional traffic outside the Summer Camp hours. Facilities for camping, this is not for kids that attend a day camp. This is to offer business opportunities, this includes not just tents, but structures that will be year round and include night and day traffic and a 24 hour operation. In addition more traffic these points alone states that this is more of a commercial operation than a day camp for kids. This plan has considerable growth that does not fit or belong in a residential zones area. We the residents please ask that this not move forward and take away a residential rural peaceful homestead. Our township structure does not support this type of proposal today and years to come. Specific Address: 8535 230th St New Market Township, MN

  • Not One Penny
The president promised the American people that Mexico would pay for his ridiculous and pointless wall. Now he wants to coerce Americans into paying for it by shutting down the government and blaming Democrats for his inability to get his program through. He must not succeed with this extortion!

  • Rename Fifth Avenue in front of Trump Tower: "President Barack H. Obama Avenue"
The City of Los Angeles recently honored former President Barack Obama by renaming a stretch of the 134 Freeway near Downtown L.A. in his honor. We request the New York City Mayor and City Council do the same by renaming a block of Fifth Avenue after the former president whose many accomplishments include: saving our nation from the Great Recession; serving two completely scandal-free terms in office; and taking out Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind September 11th, which killed over 3,000 New Yorkers.

  • Refund All Donors of Private "Border Wall" Fundraiser
GoFundMe must close this fundraiser - https://www.gofundme.com/TheTrumpWall and refund ALL donors on the grounds that a "border wall" fund is ILLEGITIMATE without the approval of Congress and is in direct contradiction of the collective agenda of the 115th Congress. The fund has already raised $1.2 Million and is poised to continue growing rapidly. GoFundMe allows a maximum goal of only $1 Billion, $4 Billion short of the supposed cost of construction. Aside from that fact, any amount raised by this fundraiser CANNOT be used for its intended purpose without a vote by Congress. Thus, these funds will NEVER be used for their intended purpose. The law matters. We know it doesn't matter to Donald Trump. Does it matter to Rob Solomon? GoFundMe has no feasible means of ensuring that these funds will be allocated appropriately, though any allocation would be inappropriate since the entire purpose of the fund is ILLEGITIMATE. How do we know these funds won't end up lining the pockets of Grifter in Chief? We don't. In fact, we can reasonably expect that that is EXACTLY WHAT WILL HAPPEN. Donald Trump and his ilk are already very well known for misappropriating charitable donations. The Donald J. Trump Foundation was accused by NY Attorney General, Barbara Underwood, of “functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests,” and of engaging in “a shocking pattern of illegality” that included unlawfully coordinating with Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. In addition to shuttering the charity, her office has pursued a lawsuit that could bar President Trump and his three oldest children from the boards of other New York charities, as well as force the payment of millions in restitution and penalties. Article: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/18/nyregion/ny-ag-underwood-trump-foundation.html Rob Solomon must close the fundraiser and refund all donors IMMEDIATELY in the name of all that is moral and decent. We cannot let our fellow, struggling Americans be scammed into handing over their hard-earned money to Grifter in Chief despite the fact that he will have no plausible way of constructing a border wall. This fund should be ILLEGAL.

  • Select Committee to assure the right of "One Person, One Vote" in Presidential elections
Congress has the power under Section 5 of the 14th Amendment and Section 2 of the 15th Amendment to enforce the fundamental right of every citizen to an equal vote. The House of Representatives has the power and moral authority to take the lead in protecting the right of Americans to an equal vote in the selection of the President. The House of Representatives should establish a Select Committee to take the following actions, among others: • Receive testimony from the public and from experts about the impact and distortions of the current Elector system; • Establish standards for the conduct of Presidential elections consistent with the 14th and 15th Amendments; • Endorse remedial steps to solve the problem, including the efforts of the National Popular Vote Project. • Propose and enact enabling legislation to empower federal official, state officials, or private citizens to challenge the impact of the current Electoral system • Report to Congress and the people no later than January 2020 with a plan and recommendations for change.
