• 19 Not Too Young To Run
An 18-year-old can buy a home, for example, but can’t run for office to represent the districts in which they vote and pay taxes. Nearly all state constitutions have included age qualifications of their own, some closely to those outlined in the Federal Constitution. Many do not. Consequently, the right of a young person to run for office in the United States is determined by a nonsensical patchwork of statutes that is plainly indefensible for its arbitrariness, even if one genuinely believes that young people, by and large, can’t be trusted with elected office

  • Presidential Conflicts of Interest and Foreign Influence
President Trump has stated that no one cares about his conflicts of interest or his financial status. As the Commander in Chief, President Trump's financial debts to foreign organizations, Deutsche Bank and the Bank of China, is a vulnerability and expose him to influence. An explanation of the conflicts of interest is available here: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/12/guide-donald-trump-debt The Director, Office of Government Ethics has stated: "A conflict of interest is anything that creates an incentive to put your own interests before the interests of the people you serve. The Supreme Court has written that a conflict of interest is, and I’m quoting here, “an evil which endangers the very fabric of a democratic society, for a democracy is effective only if the people have faith in those who govern, and that faith is bound to be shattered when high officials and their appointees engage in activities which arouse suspicions of corruption.” That same Court referred to what it called a “moral principle” underlying concerns about conflicts of interest. The Court cited, and I’m quoting again, “the Biblical admonition that no man may serve two masters, a maxim which is especially pertinent if one of the masters happens to economic self-interest.” A President is no more immune to the influence of two masters than any subordinate official. In fact, our common experience of human affairs suggests that the potential for corruption only grows with the increase of power." https://www.oge.gov/web/oge.nsf/0/6E08189CF6AF742B852580A500799063/$FILE/Remarks%20of%20W%20M%20Shaub%20Jr%20(1).pdf 5 USC 1100 PART III Subpart J CH 110 states: The enhanced personnel security program of an agency shall integrate relevant and appropriate information from various sources, including- .... information relating to any criminal or civil legal proceeding; financial information relating to the covered individual, including the credit worthiness of the covered individual; .... including relevant security or counterintelligence information .... that may suggest ill intent, vulnerability to blackmail, compulsive behavior, allegiance to another country, change in ideology, or that the covered individual lacks good judgment, reliability, or trustworthiness... Title 3 The Presidential Transition Act of 1963 Disclosures of financing and personnel; limitation on acceptance of donations: "Sec. 6. • Sen. Susan Collins: Change Party Affiliation to Independent/Democrat
The Republican Party has fallen in line with and normalized a radical conservative agenda set on dismantling our democracy. Our country needs a Senate that can check the ever increasing power of the Executive Branch. Moderate Republicans must be courageous and disavow their party by becoming Independents or Democrats.

  • Mitch McConnell: "Let the American People Decide."
There will be no more significant and lasting action by the new president than his appointment to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court. Despite his overwhelming approval by the American people, President Obama was deprived of his constitutional prerogative to have his nominee for the seat considered by the senate. Senator McConnell's strategy for obstructing President Obama was cynical and against the interests of all Americans but we can agree that a president who received a minority of votes does not have a mandate from Americans to appoint a justice to The Supreme Court.

  • America's No Confidence Vote: Trump Must Resign
President Trumps' first week in office has been a disaster for the interests and values of the American People he was elected to serve. Executive Order after Executive Order have been initiated by him to divide the American people, instead of his promised efforts to unite us. His latest refugee ban has eroded the confidence of the Western World, and is contrary to our core values as Americans. MILLIONS of us must speak out: he must resign!

  • Nullify The Election Results and Remove Trump from Office
President Donald Trump insists that 3-4 million votes were cast illegally during the 2016 presidential election. This constitutes mass electoral fraud, and if the election results are allowed to stand then all of us Americans have been cheated out of free and fair elections. The only way to restore the integrity of our electoral system is to demand that the results of the election be nullified immediately, that Trump be removed from office immediately, and that new elections (with the same two candidates on the ballot) be called for.

  • It's time for Senate Democrats to catch up to the resistance
The peaceful, inspiring, broad-based resistance to Trump and his shocking, unconstitutional, and immoral agenda will continue to stand up, fight, and lead. The people are in the streets. We're doing our job. But now we need Senate Democrats to step up and do their job. Senators need to do everything in their power to stop all Senate business and to refuse all Cabinet and Supreme Court nominees—until we stop Trump's un-American, unconstitutional agenda, including his Muslim ban. The public—the majority of which voted decisively against Trump—is demanding clear, principled, and total opposition to the Trump Administration's extreme, unconstitutional, and unprecedented agenda and executive orders. We need Senate Democrats to get the message  to take extraordinary steps— and quickly. To their credit, some Senate Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren, Jeff Merkley, Chuck Schumer, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Bob Casey (among others) attended airport and other protest rallies this weekend. That they went to where grassroots energy was surging is an important step, and they should be commended for it. More recently, a number of senators gave impassioned floor speeches, keeping the Senate open late into the evening. And, Sen. Merkley has declared he will filibuster any Trump nominee to the Supreme Court. These are positive steps. But they are not nearly enough. Just voting against Trump's policies and nominees is not enough; Senate Democrats must use every procedural tool available to them to shut down the Senate. That means demanding roll call votes, denying unanimous consent, and challenging even "normal" Senate procedures to stop "business as usual." As Adam Jentleson, former deputy chief of staff to Sen. Harry Reid, pointed out recently, Senate Democrats can effectively grind business in the Senate to a halt — if they're willing to.

  • Senator Bill Cassidy: Hold a Town Hall in Southeast Louisiana
We are requesting that Senator Bill Cassidy hold a town hall meeting with his constituents in southeast Louisiana. Senator Cassidy's office phones have been going to voicemail, and in some offices the mailbox is full. Constituents deserve an opportunity to make their voices heard. Cassidy has scheduled town halls in rural northwest Louisiana. Those in the southeastern part of the state want an opportunity as well.
