Let’s attack this epidemic of gum violence from the back end using medical professionals to evaluate possible homicidal maniacs. I know the Gun Lobby is too strong; and the Second Amendment to engrained into our culture to defeat. Let’s attack this issue from the back end

  • Take Back the 2nd Amendment
I am a mother, an attorney, and a concerned citizen. The gun violence that occurs in this country every day is unconscionable. Our leaders have the duty and obligation to stand up and fight for the rights and protection of all citizens by pushing back against the twisted misinterpretation of the 2nd Amendment advocated by the NRA.

  • Repeal the 2nd amendment
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." The “right” of the people to keep and bear arms is deemed necessary in order to protect the security of a free state. However, arms have evolved over the past 200 years so that an individual’s arms could not possibly protect us from the military force of any country. It also specifies that any militia (for which the arms are deemed necessary) should be “well regulated”. It does not say who should regulate it, and as we have seen, there is no well regulated militia. There is no well regulated gun ownership that has been able to protect us. Finally, the purpose of this amendment is the “security of a free state”. How free are we if we can’t go shopping or send our children to school without being threatened by a mass shooting? This amendment restricts, rather than protect our freedom.

  • amending the "2nd"
the founding fathers had the good sense to add amendments to their less than perfect original-lets do them proud and debate and then fix this "enabler" of unintended consequences.

  • Ban of violent video games
To totally ban all violent video games that "de-sensitizes" people from the the gross and graphic nature of "murdering" people/animals, etc. The effect of losing the sense of reality and even transgressing the games to real life. Definitely much more damaging than violence on TV and movies. Almost like training or brainwashing a person to either bring out the participant's aggression to act upon or to condone the behavior in the game(s).

  • Congress/Governors have to pay their own health insurance
Many folks in congress don't support health care. If these officials have to pay out-of-pocket health insurance for themselves and their famly, maybe they will see the need for the new health care plan that would benefit most Americans they serve.

  • Social Justice not Entitlement
Congress is about to reduce the Medicare and social security of older Americans. Don't let them reduce your retirement and medical benefits without first addressing their own very rich benefits. Do you know that a one term senator is entitled to life time benefits at the rate of their current salaries for the rest of their lives. That is for 6 years of their lives they get a life time pension. This needs to be addressed before working people's benefits are reduced.

  • TERM LIMITS
We can no longer afford to have career politicians whose vested interest is keeping their job by spending our money to ingratiate themselves with a particular constituency. Demand your representatives pass term limits.

  • Cut the salaries and pensions of the United States Senators and Congressmen
This petition is about the stale mate between the entire U.S. Congress and the President over spending cuts. Some Congressmen want to put the burden of spending cuts on the underprivileged citizens, poor, and elderly, who cannot afford them. I am asking that the Senators and Congressman share in the burden of the spending cuts.
