  • Senator-elect Martin Heinrich: Make a Commitment to Ending Gun Violence
In 2012 alone, there have been no fewer than 16 mass shootings in the United States, killing a total of 88 people*. Although a Democrat, Martin Heinrich is a darling of the NRA because of his consistent support of measures that ease gun restrictions. It's time he re-thought his dangerous, outmoded stance on this issue. Please join me in calling on Senator-elect Heinrich to assure the people of New Mexico and around the country that he condemns gun violence and will do whatever is in his power to end it. * http://www.thenation.com/blog/171774/fifteen-us-mass-shootings-happened-2012-84-dead#

  • Repeal the Second Amendment
Enough violence Innocent children, religious worshippers, holiday shoppers are being slaughtered because guns are being legally sold to the killers. Americans should not have to worry about their safety when the worship, shop, go to school, and yet they should as long as the right to bear arms is in the Constitution.

  • Stop Taking Money From The NRA
The reason our country doesn't have reasonable and effective gun control laws is because the National Rifle Association is a major political contributor. We can't ban the NRA or defund it, but politicians can say "no" to taking their money. Candidates and politicians who do accept money from the NRA should be called on it both before and after they are elected. It's the only way to take our country back from those who prioritize the size of their arsenals over the murders of thousands of Americans every year.

  • NRA: it's time to change your position on gun control
This petition is in response to today's tragic killing of 27 people , 20 of which were children. I have also been affected by gun violence with my father a hard working entrepreneur that was murdered during a robbery of his business. It's time for the NRA to change it's stance because the NRA heavily influences our elected officials decision making on this topic.

  • National gun control now!
Today 20 children and six adults were murdered in their school in Newtown, CT. Last week it was a mall in Portland, OR. Before that a movie theater in Aurora, CO. How many times do these mass murders, or for that matter, individual murders, have to take place before we pass a ban on assault weapons in this country? Yes, people committed these heinous crimes, but they committed them with hand guns and assault weapons. We need a national ban on assault weapons and much stronger controls on hand guns NOW!

The atrocity of the lives of innocent children lost that took place in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2010. If we do not take an immediate stand, the future of children will become obsolete!

  • Protect Our Children and Teachers
I am a mother of four children and a Georgia public school teacher. I cannot sit idly as armed gunmen enter our public schools and kill innocent, unarmed students and public school staff. The safety of our children is grossly overestimated. Schools are wide open to this sort of violence and we must address the problem TODAY.

  • Congressional Belt tightening
How much is the U.S. congress costing the citizens of this country each year? We need a complete accounting of their income from lobbying and personal funds, expenditures for staff, office supplies, travel, etc. How many days of the year do they do actual work for the taxpayer, not counting travel times to and from their home base and junkets.
