Request Nancy Pelosi to consider not running for House Minority LeaderAn effort to get congress moving on solutions instead of political power. The current congressional environment is in total stalemate and progressives need to take the first step to move forward.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Roanld Sheaffer

New Jersey: Ripping off citizens with state surcharges on top of Motor Vehicle punishments.I know many people who have made a mistake or mistakes while driving in the state of New Jersey. They are ticketed, fined, pointed, and must watch as their car insurance goes up, and New Jersey punishes them even more with a state surcharge that must be paid over 3 years. All of this money goes to the state. New Jersey, according to Wikipedia, is the only state in United States that imposes these surcharges, and it is 100% unfair.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Deborah Levi

Fix the Florida Voting IssuesThis is a recurring theme that is in every recent election making people wait in line for many hours to cast their vote and not being able to count the votes in a timely manner. Four years should have been enough time to solve these issues.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Larry Waller

Electoral college OUT, Popular vote INI am an American who feels that the voting process is a travesty of democracy. It should be based on the popular vote and not on the Electoral college (Winner takes all). This past election made that very clear when Barack Obama had been declared the winner with only 60% of the popular vote counted.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by C. Vorhies

Line Item VetoAs we once again approach a fiscal cliff and our national debt is higher than ever before we need to control government spending. Although it is not the end all be all solution it is a small step in the right direction to allow the President to veto line items in budget bills to stop the practice of adding pet projects to important legislation knowing full well their pork barrel project will get funding due to the importance of the larger issue. Additionally the President needs the authority to eliminate unnecessary riders to legislation for the same reason.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William Lumsden

Term Limits for CongressTerm Limits for Congress to prevent gridlock and get fresh ideas to solve problems. Long term service in Congress has taken representation away from the people because they are more worried about re-election than solving problems and making the other party look bad. The same reasoning behind Presidential term limits needs to be applied to them.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William Lumsden

Stop Corporate Entitlement ProgramIt is ludicrous that the CEO’s and executives of corporations primarily funded by government contracts should be raking in million dollar salaries. The average American salary has been stagnant for years and insurance premiums for health care increase. Battelle Memorial Institute runs several National Labs and is dependent on government contracts. The salaries and compensation of Battelle’s 27 highest paid employees totaled over $21 million dollars in 2009, one man accumulating $1.7 million of compensation in a single year. A business that makes 70% or more of their revenue from government contracts needs a salary cap for CEO's and executives of no more than a total compensation of $250,000/year.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kate

Right to Vote AmendmentThe right to vote is not explicitly stated in the U.S. Constitution. A handful of phrases in several amendments state a limited number of categories of barriers and discriminatory practices that are dis-allowed. A specific amendment is needed to simply, clearly and categorically state that all US citizens have the right to vote in federal, state, and local elections, for which they meet age and residence requirements, and that imposition of any arbitrary, capricious or discriminatory laws or eligibility criteria to the access of the voting franchise resulting from overt action by government or its elected or appointed officials, or by neglect on their part, or by interference of non-governmental citizens or entities, is a violation of the federal constitution. In the 21st Century Americans should also have explicit constitutional protection against inadequate poll access, waiting for hours in lines, shoddy voting devices, having their names arbitrarily removed from registration rolls, or being misled or intimidated by individuals or organizations working to influence election outcomes. An explicit declaration of each citizen's right to vote takes on new importance and urgency given the recent decision by the United States Supreme Court to review and reconsider continued enforcement of the Voter Rights Act of 1965, the hallmark civil rights achievement of the 20th century. It is clear that creative avenues of discrimination have continued to emerge in the absence of an overarching declaration of every citizen's right to vote and similarly overarching prohibition of any overt or indirect discriminatory practices.1,682 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Bob Sojka
