2 term limit on representatives of the US House and US Senate. The U S Congress men and women have become careers for many and have lost touch with what it is like to live in the hometowns and live by the same rules. So since the positions started out as civil service commitments and not careers let's continue the concept the founding fathers had in mind. In addition, the Congress men and women spend too much of their time in their re-election effort rather than in guiding the country and negotiating with the "other side of the aisle".2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Will Sawyer

No Compensation without RepresentationCongress has spent countless hours debating funding for the federal government, simply because our elected representatives are more interested in representing their parties and lobbyists instead of the people who elected them. This gridlock has threatened to shut down the federal government more than once. I feel that the primary job description of a member of Congress should be, "to keep the federal government functioning."2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael

Abolish the General Mining Law of 1872Thousands of acres of public land are being destroyed by gold miners along the Resurrection Creek in Hope, Alaska. When the moratorium on patents is lifted, the mining claim owner will attain the title to this land immediately. This law is archaic. We can no longer afford to give up land as in 1872, when land was plenty and development and settlement important. This law is giving our land to miners (uranium, silver, gold, copper, etc.) across the country, and we are not only losing land to companies but the bonds they must put forth are not nearly enough to clean up the damage done. All of this is based on 1872 prices. There is only a temporary moratorium on patents (which gives miners title to public lands). This must be renewed every year through an addendum to the budget (i.e. no money can be spent on giving people patents.) The people are getting no benefit from the mining operations that devastate the land.361 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Dru Sorenson

Allow Rocky Anderson to participate in the presidential debatesAllow Rocky Anderson, the 2012 Presidential candidate of the independent party, the Justice Party, participate in the Presidential debates this year. The Republican and Democratic Parties control the presidential debates and exclude third party candidates. This is antithetical to democracy. We petition the Commission on Presidential Debates to allow Rocky Anderson to participate in all of the presidential debates this year.258 of 300 SignaturesCreated by William Brighenti

Candidates should stay within budgetCandidates should be given the same amount of money, set a budget and stay within it. This would be a way to demonstrate they could understand balancing the state and federal budgets1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elaine Bynum

Truth in Campaign AdvertisingIt is becoming clear that there is no downside to lying in political ads but this must change. There are no penalities for half truths, lies, or distortions in political campaign ads that would never be permitted in commercial ads. Campaign ads are certainly more important to the public in making informed decisions based on FACTS.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Koji Asada

Blackfeet Tribal Business Council: Petition To Implement A Zero Tolerance Violence-Free Work PolicyWe are asking the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council to commit to creating and maintaining a zero tolerance and violence-free workplace policy where threats, threatening behavior, intimidation, harassment including sexual, verbal and physical assaults, or any act of violence will not be tolerated. We are also asking that this policy state that threats or threatening behaviors will be investigated immediately and will be grounds for charges according to Blackfeet Tribal Law if found to be in violation of this policy. These types of incidents have been known to occur within and throughout the Blackfeet Tribal Organization and have been numerous enough to not only merit review, but numerous enough to implement such a policy. It is the belief of the petitioners that implementing a zero tolerance and violence-free policy and posting statements of this policy and the consequences of violating this policy in all buildings owned or operated by the Blackfeet Nation will help manage and reduce workplace violence incidents. Employers everywhere have a legal and ethical responsibility to promote a work environment free from threats and violence and the Blackfeet Tribe as the main employer on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation should have the same legal and ethical obligation to do the same. Workplace violence according to this policy will refer to actions including threats, threatening behaviors, intimidation, harassment including sexual, verbal and physical assaults or any other act of violence that originates from the General Public, Blackfeet Tribal Employee's and the Blackfeet Tribal Administration including all Blackfeet Tribal Business Council Members and all will be subject to the guidelines of such a policy. This petition is asking that the Blackfeet Tribe also provide professional training from an outside entity to educate all Blackfeet Tribal Business Council Members, all Blackfeet Tribal Program Directors, and all Blackfeet Tribal Staff Members should they chose to implement this policy. This petition is also asking that the General Public be made aware of this policy should it be implemented as well. The petitioners believe that implementing such a policy will effectively make a positive change as well as working on creating a professional work environment throughout the Blackfeet Tribal Organization.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Patty Gilham
