• Term Limits for Congress
The members of Congress have abused their positions and exceeded the original intentions of our founders. They do not participate in programs they vote on, and instead have their own superior programs.

  • true democracy
Requirement that everyone registers to vote and either votes or performs community service. Also, one month before an election the media is open to candidates to give detailed accounts of their positions. All media is provided at little or no cost. Money, as a result, will be taken out of the election. Twenty second sound bites will be replaced by in-depth knowledge of candidates beliefs and positions.

  • Term-limits:Best antitode to Political Corruption
Even before the Citizen United decision, special interests thoroughly corrupted our democracy to plutocratic rule. Mindful that some decent elected officials may also be swept away from government, the cleansing results would be beneficial to all citizens.

  • Separation of Corporation and State
Our founding fathers knew that a democracy could not uphold its ideals if an organized institution, such as the church, held undue influence over a government whose premise was to govern "by the people, for the people". Today, the corporation has become the institution with undue influence over our government's ability to operate in a democratic fashion. We are calling on the U.S. Senate to adopt a Constitutional Amendment to return our government to it's democratic values and to restore integrity to our system.

  • Members of Congress: Start Working on Things You Can Agree On!
The House of Representatives initiates bills to make a statement that the Senate will not pass, wasting everyone's time and money. Why not concentrate only on issues in which there is likely agreement and likely passage. These "partisan statements" are a waste of time and taxpayer money, are useless, and a dereliction of responsibility.

  • Members of Congress should take no oaths of allegiance that conflict with their oath of office.
Large numbers of members of Congress, mostly Republicans but not exclusively so, take an oath to Grover Norquist and his Americans for Tax Reform that conflicts with a major part of the array of tools that are necessary to be considered in the governance of our country. While it is perfectly proper to be against increasing taxes, it is another thing to completely eliminate that alternative by a sworn oath to a private organization when representing the American people in attempting to solve our country's problems.

  • Obscene benefits of Congressional politicians
Congressional politicians "earn"-and that's written with extreme sarcasm, six figure salaries. In addition they have the gold standard of health plans paid by the public's taxes. Why? With the salaries they get, why can't they pay for their own health plans-especially in light of the fact that many folks have no health insurance

  • 30% Decrease in Congressional Pay for 30 Months
Since the average American has taken cuts in pay and work benefits, Congressional members of Congress who have served more than one term should bear some portion of the pain felt by the average American. A 30% cut in their pay would free up federal dollars and help lower the deficit until the country can stabilize itself. For a period of 30 months- 30% of Congressional pay should witheld until each member realizes that their pay is a burden on the average American's taxpayer.

  • Make the Federal Government Payback Social Security
Petition the Federal government to pay back Social Security. It is illegal to use the Social Security money to fund anything else except Social Security. President GW Bush in alience with Alan Greenspan the money's used to 1. Fund the War in Iraq and 2. to keep the government solvent after giving the rich a tax break. There was not a provision to pay the money back. Now is the time to do that.

  • Bust the Filibuster!
The filibuster is a parliamentary procedure that allows one person to delay and or eventually prevent a vote on an issue unless 60% of the Senate votes yea to end debate and vote. Its time has come and gone and it needs to be gone. It is evident that its use is more political than practical especially now since no Senator even filibusters on the floor of the senate and actually talks about a bill. Only a mention of filibuster stops all movement. Let's get rid of it. Vote here before that is gone too.

  • None of the above/Election Day National Holliday
A third option or choice on all ballots, for those that can't bring themselves to vote for either of the two major parties and still have a vote and be counted. Make election day a National Holliday so people can get to the booths to vote and not miss work or get to the polls late because of work.

  • Save the Postal Service for all Americans
In 2006 the Republican Congress under George W. Bush got congress to make the Postal Service Pay for the Health Benefits of retirees, for 75 years ahead, in 10 years. No business, public or private does this. Other than that the P.O. has had an operating surplus since.
