• Stop Dangerous Permitless Carry in Louisiana!
As a Louisiana native, I support the Second Amendment. But I also support my communities. If you agree with members of law enforcement, local governments, and tourism experts from around the state that allowing dangerous people to carry loaded, hidden guns with no safety training is not the future Louisiana deserves, please sign on! And if you're from out of state, please leave a comment and let us know how armed, dangerous people would affect your travel plans to our state!

  • No "Guns Everywhere" for Michigan after Kalamazoo
In Kalamazoo, Michigan, a gunman has critically injured a mother standing in an apartment complex parking lot with her three children; killed a man and his 18-year-old son visiting a car dealership; and killed four women and gravely injured a 14-year-old girl in front of a Cracker Barrel restaurant. We are heartbroken for the victim’s families -- and more convinced than ever that “guns everywhere” is a terrible idea for Michigan. There are efforts in the Michigan State House to expand access to guns and the public spaces where guns can freely circulate. One bad idea is to open the way for people to bring their weapons into schools, colleges and universities, houses of worship, sports arenas, bars and other places where the concealed carrying of guns is currently banned. Another unsafe proposal in the works is to completely do away with permits for gun owners who want to conceal carry – what is known as “permitless carry.” In times like these, we shouldn’t be increasing the areas where people can bring guns; instead we should be increasing community safety. Guns do NOT belong everywhere. Please sign on now!

  • Paul Ryan: Vote on the Gun Violence Research Act
For the last several months, Congressman Mike Honda (D-CA), Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA.), House Democrats, former Congressman Jay Dickey (R-AR), and Doctors for America have been working to overturn the ban on government research of gun violence. It is impossible to adequately deal with this epidemic without scientific and objective research into the causes of gun violence, and Congress needs to act. However, the House Republicans have been blocking the Gun Violence Research Act on behalf of the gun lobby. Just yesterday, they prevented House Democrats from even discussing the bill on the House floor. What are the Republicans and the National Rifle Association afraid of learning? Paul Ryan believes that prayer is an adequate response to the 89 people who die from gun violence every day in America. But prayers without action are an affront to God and humanity when offered after the fact for something preventable. #ActionFirstPrayLater

  • Keep Guns off Kenyon College Campus
We want Kenyon to clearly remain gun-free. We live in an area where many private citizens own guns, and we would like there to be no ambiguity after the passage of this law as to whether those guns are allowed on campus.

  • Gov. Rauner and the Illinois General Assembly: It's Time for Gun Dealer Licensing!
I'm concerned about the increasing number of deaths and injuries due to gun violence in Illinois each year. In 2014 alone, there were 1,179 gun deaths in the state. It is far too easy for criminals to obtain guns. According to a report of the University of Chicago Crime Lab, 20% of all guns recovered from crime scenes between 2009 and 2013 came from four dealers in Illinois. Requiring gun dealers to be licensed would hold these bad apple dealers accountable, and reduce the number of illegal guns coming into our communities.

  • Alabama universities shouldn't be mandated to allow guns on campus
My wife teaches at the University of Montevallo in Alabama. We both believe that this bill will make her workplace more dangerous, not safer. The presence of guns in classrooms can also create a threatening atmosphere that stifles the free exchange of ideas and opinions critical to learning and may intimidate students and professors alike.
