Death With DignityI AM WRITING TO ASK YOU TO SPONSOR LEGISLATION THAT MAKES THE MEDICAL PRACTICE OF AID IN DYING ACCESSIBLE FOR THE PEOPLE OF ARIZONA. IT IS GOOD LAW AND RESPONSIBLE POLICY WITH A DOCUMENTED RECORD OF SAFETY. LIKE 70 PERCENT OF PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY, I BELIEVE THAT OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS ARE OURS TO EXERCISE UNTIL WE TAKE OUR LAST BREATH, AND HAVING A TERMINAL ILLNESS DOESN’T CHANGE THAT. I AM CALLING ON YOU AS MY ELECTED LAWMAKER TO GUARANTEE THOSE RIGHTS FOR ME. YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY AND THE RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE THIS FREEDOM TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS. THE RECORD SHOWS THAT IN STATES WHERE IT IS AN AUTHORIZED MEDICAL PRACTICE, AID IN DYING WORKS AS INTENDED, AND IS NOT SUBJECT TO ABUSE. IT ALSO PROVIDES GREAT PEACE OF MIND TO TERMINALLY ILL ADULTS AS THEY APPROACH LIFE’S END. AID IN DYING IS NOT A CHOICE OF DEATH OVER LIFE. IT IS AN OPTION FOR THOSE WHO ARE DYING THAT SPARES THEM UNBEARABLE SUFFERING AND OFFERS A CONTROLLED AND PEACEFUL ENDING. ALL DYING PEOPLE DESERVE THAT OPTION, AND THE TREMENDOUS PEACE OF MIND THAT COMES WITH IT. PLEASE, DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO ENSURE ACCESS TO DEATH WITH DIGNITY IN ARIZONA.178 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Chris Lamb

Shut Down Methadone ClinicsI am a recovering heroine addic,t as is my husband. We run 2 addictions recovery ministries. We see 30 out of 50 people walk through our doors weekly. The majority of them hate that they ever got on methadone because now it is in their bones and are deathly sick when they try to come off. The clinic gets $80 to $100 per week per client that walks through their doors! Not only that but as soon as these addicts get their dose, they meet their dealer within 5 miles of the clinic to get the ultimate high! Our lives, our children's lives, and these addicts lives are all at risk. Please help me get these clinics out of our cities.157 of 200 SignaturesCreated by crystal west

Connecticut's policy of choice does not extend to Medicaid patientsDental amalgam is 50 % Mercury. Mercury is a neurotoxin, a reproductive toxin, and a pollutant of global concern due to its significant negative effects on human health and the environment. There are Mercury-free alternatives and half of U.S. Dentists have abandoned the use of amalgam, most favoring composite fillings. However, the State of Connecticut expelled from Medicaid any dentist who Is Mercury-free. The policy states, " if your office cannot provide amalgam services, please have your patients call the Connecticut Dental Health Partnership ... to locate a new dental home"32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by CT COALITION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

Physical Conditioning for Adults Who Are Visually Impaired at I.C.R.E.-WoodI attended I.C.R.E. Wood and the Physical Conditioning literally saved my life. My diabetes which was out of control, and became controllable. Illinois Center for Education and Rehabilitation has lost i's Physical Education instructor and funding for physical conditioning because of recent cuts. Adults who are visually impaired (that is, those who are blind or have low vision) are substantially more likely to report poor, fair, or worsening health than are adults who are sighted. Regular physical activity benefits both physical and psychological health and reduces risk for heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and stress-related illnesses (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1996). Overweight and obesity are a major public health concern because they are associated with a multitude of medical conditions and negative psycho-social outcomes, as well as increased mortality. Medical conditions that have consistently been linked to overweight and obesity include type 2 diabetes; heart disease; high blood pressure; stroke; certain types of cancer, such as cancer of the colon, prostate, breast, and uterus; osteoarthritis; pulmonary problems, including asthma and sleep apnea; liver disease; gallbladder disease and gallstones; and dyslipidemia (high cholesterol levels) (CDC, 2005b; U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, USDHHS, 2001; 2004). In addition, overweight and obesity have been associated with a greater risk of eye diseases or a faster progression of certain eye diseases such as macular degeneration, maculopathy, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. We want a Physical Education instructor at this facility.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kevin Suddoth

Cannabis for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease treatmentI currently suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and having traveled to places like Colorado and Washington, have been able to legally treat my disease with medical marijuana, edibles, and oils. It was amazing to have something that is natural provide more relief from my symptoms, than the 30 plus prescribed medications that I take every day. Please allow us to have access to our medicine and to use cannabis as responsible adults.222 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Ryan Moore

Obama Library Foundation Should fund University of Chicago Trauma CenterI have not been personally affected by this issue, but it would be a wonderful contribution to a much needed service in the community. The nearest Trauma Center is now far enough away that people are suffering and or dying before they can get proper care.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lee Dragu

Fight For Autism Treatment Options! We are parents and treating professionals of children with autism who want our children and clients to have access to ALL proven methods of therapy prescribed by their doctors. There is a lobby to remove the options of other approaches (e.g., relationship-based) from insurance plans, thereby grossly limiting parents’ choice to only one treatment approach (behaviorism). Parents should have the ability to choose the treatment they feel gives their child the best chance for success.154 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Andrea Davis

Antibiotics and childrenOn October 19 2004 my son Dillon Thomas Geary at the age of 9 yrs passed away from a staph infection. When We had the autopsy done on him they could not find the source of infection due to the amount of antibiotics that were given to him . Dillon passed from a simple 3 pin close reduction in his right elbow. 4 days later my son was on life support and pronounced brain dead from an infection that could have been prevented. It has been a long 10 yrs Dillon passing tore our family apart and we have never been the same. I hope that I one day will have some sort of closure to his loss and help another family so this don't ever happen again to another little boy or girl. Thank you for your time. We demand a Congressional investigation of the OB/GYN specialty!UPDATE: On Aug. 6, Sen. Mark Warner sent the research behind this petition to the FDA. Now we just need a hearing! Thank you, Senator Warner! According to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3543732/ and many other studies, women are significantly more likely to die prematurely when their ovaries removed. Average age at surgery is 42. Those women are are 70% more likely to die before age 80 than women who didn't have the surgery. Women older than 45 still die prematurely - risk only decreases 6% for each year past age 45. At no age is this acceptable for women who receive no benefit. I, and about 14 million other women in the U.S., were made seriously ill when our healthy ovaries were removed at the time of elective hysterectomy. This is done 55% of the time women have a hysterectomy despite the fact that only 2% of all women have a risk of breast or ovarian cancer, and might benefit. Though 14,000 women die of ovarian cancer each year, 365,000 healthy pairs of ovaries are removed in women with no known risk. This is a national health crisis. Unsure this is accurate? http://www.gynreform.com/citations.html Though it's not well understood outside of medicine, ovaries make hormones that we need for our entire lives. Our lifespans have been cut short by these surgeons. These doctors publish study after study in their own medical journals, then ignore the data and continue doing things that are making us gravely ill and lead to our premature death. This must be addressed in Congress, in court, and they must be made to stop. A complete revision of their training and accreditation processes, one that indoctrinates them with a more appropriate way of looking at patients, must be a top priority. Don't lower SSDI payments. Refund them.A nursing home costs taxpayers on average 3 times what home and community based services do. In home and community based services a person with a disability can live in their community and give 2 to 3 home care workers employment. Some will also be able to work and pay taxes themselves and not need SSDI. Help people with disabilities to remain at home and save you Mr and Mrs taxpayer from even higher taxes then we pay now.172 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Fred Hess

Save Cameron's Syndrome from HappeningMy petition is about legalizing Medical Cannabis at the federal level for all states. My son, Cameron, has a very rare condition called Rasmussen's encephalitis, also known as chronic focal encephalitis; it is a rare inflammatory neurological disease. This disease is characterized by frequent and severe seizures, loss of motor skills and speech, hemiparesis (paralysis on one side of the body), encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), and dementia. While most if not all seizure meds have severe side effects for his body. a drug from cannabis (CBD), a compound derived from cannabis has been known to treat this syndrome and decrease seizures by 54% if not more in children with this syndrome. There also needs to be a study in conjunction with this treatment for this very rare condition, so kids like my son Cameron can live as close to a normal life as possible with this rare condition. This really needs the world's attention.133 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Ron Cooper
