Demand Better Access to Public Mental Health CareOur human family is heartbroken over the Connecticut shootings. Another mentally ill person goes untreated and becomes a mentally ill mass murder, meanwhile funding for mental health programs are cut across the nation. TREATMENT FOR MENTAL ILLNESS SHOULD BE AS EASY TO GET AS GUNS.105 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Christina McCrory

Bring back mental health facilities and help for the mentally ill.I have worked in the mental health field and am also personally affected because I have seen family and friends try to get help at various times to no avail, or they have been in-patient for a short period and turned loose to fend for themselves because of short-staffing or no room. Something needs to be done because there are so many people in need of mental health services in New Mexico and all over the country.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kathy McDonald

Mental Health system ReformThe current mental health system today is failing society. Mass killings at theaters, schools and office places are becoming increasingly more often. All , mentally ill people, who family knew was ill but was unable to get any help. When I was 16, my mother, who had Bipolar disorder, stood off with Police and ultimately was shot and killed. It's time to make a difference, keep them on the needed medications, give families the help they need to prevent such HORRIBLE tragedies.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jennifer Mann

America's Mental Health Care in CRISIS!America needs proactive measures to insure mental health issues be addressed and treated in every town, city, and state in the USA. By endorsing and funding such services, think of the prevention of problems from the troubled teen, dysfunctional family, to the addiction issues, abuse issues, and crime. Perhaps the recent murders of innocent children/adults in Newtown, CT. could have been prevented if help had been readily available to those "crying" out in need.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by carol vandenbosch

Mental Health Needs the Overhaul, NOT Gun ControlIn the wake of recent events, many people are calling out for tighter gun control. This does not solve the problem, because the problem is a failed mental health system that allows these disturbed individuals to roam free. Our leaders need to adress the cause, not the symptom.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carolyn Spencer

Make mental illness a national priority just as other illnesses are.I am a disabled American who has a mental illness. I was fortunate enough to receive the proper care I needed to maintain my mental health. Thousands upon thousands of others have not been as fortunate as I have been, and this needs to be taken seriously. Now.119 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Eric Enders

Tax Guns To Pay For Free Mental Health ClinicsAs the parent of a six-year-old first grader, after yesterday's trajedy in Newtown, Conn., I can't sit idly by and wait for our gun lobbyist-funded government to act responsibly. Congress should enact a 100% tax on all gun and ammunition purchases, effective immediately. The revenues generated ($6 billion annually) could be used to fund free mental health clinics.157 of 200 SignaturesCreated by G.E. Anderson

Accurate Nutrition LabelingThe vitamin content of foods decreases significantly each day following the removal from their life source (e.g. the vine, the animal, etc.). Therefore, for products like juice, each day the product is in transit, and each day it remains on a store shelf before purchase, it is losing nutritional value. However, Nutritional Fact labeling does not reflect this reality: "Compliance with the nutrition labeling regulations is based on the date the product was labeled, not the date the product is offered for entry into interstate commerce." from the Nutritional Labeling and Education Act (NLEA) Requirements (8/94 - 2/95) This being the case, labels should include a disclaimer, such as: "This product will retain at least 95% of the listed nutritional values until the 'use by' date," or something similar. This way consumers will understand that these nutritional values are not static numbers, and that the products they buy may have a reduced nutritional value if they consume them after the 'use by' date.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michelle Repper
