Congress needs to pass permanent authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation FundWe've made numerous trips down to Washington, DC over the years to fight for 9/11 victims and their families. Even though the experience is exhausting and infuriating—emotionally and physically—we keep fighting for the 9/11 responders and survivors in the Health Program who are in all 50 States and in 434 out of 435 Congressional Districts. The number of people coming forward with illnesses and cancers related to the exposures to toxins at Ground Zero grows every single day. Nearly every other day another 9/11 responder or survivor reportedly dies from a 9/11 associated cancer. As the consequences of these attacks grow so too do the costs which are taking a significant toll on the current funding for the victims of this tragic day. Chronic diseases like asthma, obstructive pulmonary disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and cancer continue to plague those who were exposed to the many toxins and carcinogens on 9/11 and in the weeks and months after. Currently more than 45,000 people who are in the World Trade Center Health program are suffering from at least one certified 9/11 condition caused by the toxins at Ground Zero, the Pentagon and Shanksville crash site—a large percentage have multiple conditions. It is Congress’s responsibility to provide the Victims Compensation Fund with all the funding needed to make sure that 9/11 responders and survivors get the help they need and deserve. The new bipartisan bill "Never Forget the Heroes: Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund," may be one of the few bipartisan bills that can pass Congress this session—and we don't have time to sit around playing political games. This is not a partisan political issue. We will talk to anyone—anywhere—anytime—to make it clear that our loyalty is to those who sacrificed so much for their communities. We ask so much of our Nation’s first responders and volunteers—from firefighters to disaster response volunteers. Let us not repay their selflessness with apathy. Sign the petition. Demand your members of Congress vote to support the bill. We need your support, energy, and love!249,265 of 300,000 SignaturesCreated by Jon Stewart and John Feal

Stop Healthcare Worker AbuseI work in a community hospital ER in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, assault by patients to staff is a not uncommon occurrence. I have been assaulted by patients several times and have seen worse assaults on coworkers. In all instances, police were called and no one was arrested because police did not personally witness the assault, per MA law. On Thursday, this happened again. My coworker was beaten so badly that she had to go home with a walker. The only reason the perp was arrested was because my coworker was over 60. I am happy that the perp was arrested, but this should be the rule and not the exception. I should not be afraid to go to work. Please sign this petition to stop healthcare worker abuse.186 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Wendy M Roden Hall

lower cost for insulinPeople are dying because they no longer can afford the medication they require to live. It is a horrible shame that insulin makers only care about their bank roll and disregard the many human lives being affected by their greed.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gina Reed

Extended Time For Patient And Doctor InteractionsStatistics report 40% of clinicians are misdiagnosing patients, Medical Errors are the third leading cause of death in the US. A recent Johns Hopkins study claims more than 250,000 people in the U.S. die every year from medical errors. Other reports claim the numbers to be as high as 440,000. This needs to stop: Doctors are wasting their talents on administrative work instead of creating relationships with their patients and because of this, patients feel like doctors don't care. This war needs to end between the two so we can permanently erase the third leading cause of death in the United States. #patientsneedmoretime36 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alexa Baldyga

Sickle Cell Health Care PetitionAfter researching for our Group IV projects we learned that sickle cell disease affects about 100,000 Americans, it is the most common blood inherited disease. It is a disease full of stigmas that cause unfair treatment and lack of funding for sickle cell disease. This needs to change because after 100 years of discovering" SCD much needed attention is not happening.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by GROUP IV

Support and Pass S. 3254 "Eliminating Kickbacks in Recovery Act"As an advocate against institutionalized abuse, I've identified kickback referral schemes as a primary cause of corruption and poor quality of care for those requesting or feeling a need for such services. I believe passage of S. 3254 will aid in stopping the referral industry that worries more about income than patient satisfaction or well-being.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Angela Smith

Address Critical Shortage of Life Saving Drug for Dogs, VetmedinThis drug is essential to preventing heart failure in my dog, Prince. Please do absolutely everything in your power, whether it be having your company send out surveys to vet hospitals, reviewing the annual number of dogs needing this medicine and/or having a survey sent out to distributors on how many orders they receive per year of this product to resolve this issue.5,211 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Ann-Marie Christopher

Demand Shutdown of Autism SpeaksAs someone who has autism himself, I firmly believe that the autistic community could use a prominent organization that will help them get a better standing in society. Seeing as how Autism Speaks sanctioned the creation of a PSA that personifies autism as the Grim Reaper, along with a documentary in which they encouraged parents to stop giving their autistic kids their medications so that they can film "how they really act," this is not an organization that's interesting in doing such a thing.51 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alec Thorp
