• Coloradoan's stand against Trump's proposed Health Care Law!
My name is Kenneth Green and I am a disabled American citizen living in the mile-high city of Denver. I am someone who’s disabilities onset around the time that I was born. I can't tell you how much Medicaid/Medicare have helped me. I would be dead without it. My wife is a hard worker, who works two jobs and yet her Medicaid is under threat and we don’t make enough to get coverage from the Colorado Marketplace. My petition is to send a signal to legislatures in Colorado that this issue is not merely about numbers on a balance sheet. This issue is about peoples lives and the quality thereof. Trump is threatening to make overhauls that could cripple the Medicaid program as we know it. I am hoping by getting enough support on this petition, that legislative officials can know how serious an issue this is to the people of Colorado. Maybe this can affect change in our legislature. Maybe our elected officials will understand that if they support a TrumpCare law that their own tenure as officials can be at risk for we have power to vote them out next election. Without these benefits I would be dead and so would my wife. Therefore, I am so passionate about this issue. I joined Move On via the Resistance Summer movement which I was ecstatic about! And now I am hoping to use their platform to raise awareness about this issue hopefully not just in Colorado but the entire United States!

  • Tell Gov. Rauner, drop the appeal & allow medication access.
If the administration won't show compassion and allow people access to safer pain relief, the General Assembly needs to. Is it a good use of state resources to appeal the court's decision on including chronic pain in the medical cannabis program? Tell Governor Rauner to drop the appeal and allow pain patients access to the medical cannabis program.

  • Governor Ricketts and State Senators: Don't defund Planned Parenthood
The people of Nebraska need Planned Parenthood locations in our State. This is a service used by both men and woman. The funding of Planned Parenthood should not be a political decision. It should be an independent decision to help the residents of the State of Nebraska. Please let your Senators know you want Planned Parenthood funded in the State of Nebraska.

  • Government Funding For SUDC
My son passed away October 28th, 2017 at the age of 16 months and there is no explanation. After he passed away I got into contact with the SUDC foundation who told me all these wonderful services they offer and through them I found out that research for SUDC isn't government funded. Why? I don't believe any parent should wake up to their baby gone. We have the money to find out why it's happening. It's not just happening in America. Children and babies all over the world pass away unexpectedly and I believe we can try much harder then we are now to figure out why and what causes it. Please, I hope whoever is reading this it gets through to you. Researchers involved with the study, published in the journal Acta Neuropathologica, found that infants who die from SIDS and SUDC often have low levels of an important brain protein that is thought to play a significant role in sleep arousal. It's believed that some children who die from sudden infant death syndrome did not have enough orexin, a brain protein that helps manage wakefulness and that would alert them to wake up should their oxygen intake be compromised due to rolling over or sleeping face down. There are 2k deaths per year ruled to be SIDS and 1 in 4 deaths of 100,000 live births are ruled SUDC. And that is only the United States. Imagine the total number worldwide.

  • Stop Medicaid work requirements from taking health care away from poor people
"Among the adult Medicaid enrollees who were not working, most report major impediments to their ability to work including illness or disability or care-giving responsibilities. While proponents of work requirements say such provisions aim to promote work for those who are not working, these policies could have negative implications on many who are working or exempt from the requirements." • Tell Congress: Don’t gamble with our kids’ health!
It’s been over 100 days since the GOP leadership in Congress let the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) expire. With short-term patches and some creative budgeting, they’ve managed to limp funding along, but the time is up and the health and well-being of our children is at stake. Leaders from both sides of the aisle have agreed to a full 5 year extension of CHIP. They just have to stop playing partisan politics with children’s health and pass it! On January 19th, Congress will vote on a new spending bill and it must include long-term funding for this critical program. Children’s health can’t afford to wait; and short-term funding patches don’t cut it when it comes to providing reliable health coverage for children and pregnant women. The uncertainty this creates is inexcusable and puts the health and well-being of women and children at risk. Some states have already begun notifying families that their coverage could end. Moreover, states are not able to plan their budgets with funding still uncertain for CHIP. States can’t rely on limited patchwork funding and families can’t afford to go without coverage for their kids.

  • Save Norwegian American Hospital!
Safety-Net hospitals like Norwegian American Hospital, are completely reliant on Medicaid funding from the hospital assessment program which is set to expire in June. Countless patients and employees depend on the services and economic activity created by these hospitals. We need your help to send a message to Springfield that any cuts to Medicaid funding will negatively impact jobs and patient care.

  • Opioid Addiction in Utah | Daggett County
Opioid misuse, addiction, overdose and death have become an epidemic in America. In fact, over the past 15 years, the nation's opioid epidemic has claimed more than 250,000 lives, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In the last year alone, nearly 30,000 Americans died from opioid overdoses. In Utah, state data from 2015 found that 24 Utahns per month — or nearly one person every day — died from an overdose. Between 2011 - 2016, Salt Lake County saw the greatest total number of overdose deaths, with 638. Utah County was second with 259, followed by 184 in Weber County, 133 in Davis County, 37 in Cache and 14 in Washington County. We are hoping you would join your neighboring counties with a resolution to take legal action against Big Pharma.
