We need a Federal Law that creates harsh penalties for First Degree Child Abuse. So many children are being abused every day. Like Takota his life was taken to soon. (He was abused and literally tortured until he didn't make it while in his Mother and her Boyfriend's care) Children should never have to suffer or go through such torture. We are taking a stand, if a child is being abused it should automatically be a felony no less than ten years in prison, and if a child's life is taken it should be life in prison without parole. It is time to end mass incarceration in The United States. Our federal prison system is 39% over capacity, filled with non-violent offenders who make up more than half that population, many of whom are serving longer sentences than if they had committed a violent crime. And there is no parole on the federal level. The United States spends more money on prisons than on education, and we incarcerate more of our population than any other developed nation. Individual states have begun to realize, and prove, that by decreasing their prison populations and allocating funds for crime prevention, that crime is reduced. Fewer people in prison can actually equal less crime. Tell Congress to be smarter on crime, and end mass incarceration now. Update - There is now a Justice Safety Valve Bill in the House, making it bi-partisan, and the House Judiciary committee has created a bi-partisan task force on overcriminalization on the federal level. We have to let our Senators and Representatives know that they are moving in the right direction, and that more needs to be done, and sooner rather than later.

Why give the death penalty to someone who murdered somebody? Do you realize we are giveing the government the power to decide who should die? The government can kill people but we cant? In Tampa, Florida one can view the news weekly and people are being convicted for filling false tax returns all of the time. Why not put a square box on the tax form where one must put their thumb print to ensure the true identity of the tax payer?

We need a law that prevents pregnant women doing harm to their unborn children by their acts of smoking tobacco, smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol and conuming other types of drugs. I live in a small town in Illinois where I constantly see pregnant women smoking and drinking and I have tried to educate many of the harmful effects of the newborn but found that with any addiction, women find it difficult to quit. I would like to see women who use drugs while pregnant forced to become educated through rehab or jail if the pregnant women aren't willing to take the steps to stop. I would also like to see the child be removed at birth and brought to a safer environment. Not enough is being done to prevent this form of child abuse.
