The only way to beat the N.R.A lobbyists is through a referendum. We, the people, must call for a vote on this issue.

Over 30,000 people died last year in the United States from handguns alone. Now we have lost twenty more school children. Little kids. As long as the Second Amendment stands in the way, we will continue down the path toward violence and eventually, anarchy. This petition does not impose gun controls or advocate taking away anyone's guns. It does take away the present unabridged right to own and use guns. The Newtown Elementary school shooting of Dec 14, 2012 has resulted in 27 deaths, including 20 children, six adults and the shooter. The parents that lost their children today lost them not in small part because of the sick and twisted propaganda machine backed by weapon profiteers who cling to the 2nd amendment as an excuse to justify and perpetrate their deceiving practices. The 2nd amendment was meant to provide citizens with a means to protect themselves from a tyrannical government 200 years ago, not from their neighbors, and not as a means to protect the ability to allow mentally ill and violent criminals to kill off our children. The 2nd amendment is outdated, misused and dangerous. We need to amend the Constitution and delete the second amendment NOW. We owe it to the many who died today, the many more who die every year, and to our own children and communities.

Today, 12/14/12, 20 elementary school children were shot. In the classroom. Where they were supposed to be safe. As the nation mourns, we must ask ourselves one thing... what if it were my son? What if my spouse had been working there? What if my child had to watch their classmates die before their eyes? Don't let these angels die in vain, sign this petition to tell the government to ACT

Sandy Hook elementary, the Oregon Mall shooting, Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting, Aura Colorado movie theatre, Virginia Tech, the list goes on and on, how many innocent people have to die before we change the gun control laws to protect these victims?

At every new tragedy where assault weapons are used, we clamor that "something should be done". Let's take the initiative on gun licensing and registration norms, and not let the NRA impose the ideology of fear on us.

Stop Gun Violence.

27 people were killed in an elementary school shooting today. Most of them were children. Assault weapons were used. We need immediate action to ban assault weapons. There have been too many massacres. This needs to stop now.

Another massacre. Another outpouring of grief. Not another ignoring of the problem. Actually, guns DO kill people.
