• Prosecute George W. Bush and Tony Blair for war crimes
Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Desmond Tutu has called on the International Criminal Court to prosecute George W. Bush and Tony Blair for war crimes, for their actions in precipitating the Iraq war. The Iraq war "has destabilized and polarized the world to a greater extent than any other conflict in history," wrote Tutu, "Those responsible for this suffering and loss of life should be treading the same path as some of their African and Asian peers who have been made to answer for their actions in the Hague.

  • President Obama: Keep your promise: Close Guanatanamo Bay and hold the perpetrators of torture ac...
President Obama promised the American people to close Guantanamo Bay and to prosecute those within the CIA and the US military who committed torture in the name of the people of the United States during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This late in his first and perhaps only term of office, however, the President has failed to make any significant progress toward these promises. In fact, Attorney General Eric Holder recently announced that he was closing the books on very serious allegations of torture by the CIA that led to the death of detainees. There is no intent to pursue other cases. This means that not a single case of torture by the CIA has been prosecuted by this Administration. I voted for Obama in large part due to the promises he made to hold our country to the highest standards of rule of law. As the daughter of an American military officer who served in two wars and was awarded the Defense Distinguished Service Medal for his work toward peace in the Middle East and a Silver Star for gallantry in action, I know my father cared deeply about the honor of the US Military and was appalled by the conduct of those who did not uphold the Constitution and our international obligations under the Geneva Conventions and other treaties. My father died before the book was closed on investigations of torture but he would have been shocked by Holder's announcement. Please join in demanding justice for those held in secret detention, for those tortured in our names and for those held indefinitely without trial or hope of redress. Ask President Obama to keep his promises and to restore hope at home and abroad in the American ideals of rule of law and justice for all.

  • Stop Tennessee from executing Abu Ali
Abu Ali has been denied his final appeal by the U.S. Supreme Court and now faces execution, even though no court has ever stated that he received a fair trial. Lionell Barrett, Abu Ali's defense counsel, and one of the most prominent criminal defense lawyers in Tennessee's history, has said, "Abu Ali is on death row because of me. I failed him." The prosecutor lied to Abu Ali's attorney when he stated that a previous conviction of Abu Ali resulted from "a turf war in prison between two gangs as to who would control the drug trade in the prison." In fact, the previous conviction resulted from Abu Ali being victimized by sexual predators. Mitigating evidence that was not presented to the trial jury includes Abu Ali's lifelong abuse by others which has resulted in his suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Abu Ali was wearing a wool black coat at the time of the murder. Even though copious quantities of blood were splattered in the vicinity of the victim, no blood was found on Abu Ali's coat by the TBI crime lab. Abu Ali has an impeccable prison record, has pursued educational opportunities, and has excelled in leadership of other prisoners. The only hope for Abu Ali's life to be saved is for Governor Haslam to commute his death sentence. To learn more about Abu Ali and his case, please visit www.abu-ali.org

  • President Obama: Please restore justice and pardon my dad!
Dear Friends, Five years ago, my dad, former Democratic Governor of Alabama Don Siegelman, was taken away in handcuffs and shackles. Most who learned of his case saw it as a travesty of justice, including several prominent Republicans. Though released pending appeal for four years and despite unprecedented support, my father was returned to prison on September 11th to complete a nearly 7 year term because the Supreme Court refused to hear his case. The New York Times, The Washington Post, Fox Business News, MSNBC, CBS, Harper's, Time Magazine, The American Trial Lawyers, Huffington Post, The Guardian, 113 former state Attorneys General, top Constitutional Law Professors, and many others say this case is erroneous and Don Siegelman never commited a crime. He was convicted of an implied quid pro quo, that is an inferred bribe, or a bribe without explicit proof of agreement or self-enrichment scheme. He was never accused of benefiting, at all. I need your help to free my father. Please sign this petition to President Obama asking him to restore justice and pardon Don Siegelman! Please see www.FREE-DON.org for more information

  • Release The Basement Tapes
We are all aware of the horrible tragedy that plagued our nation on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School. The Basement Tapes were created by the two perpetrators in the months prior to the incident. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has refused to release the tapes until 2027 due to fear of copy cat crimes. Challenging their reasoning, one can contend that these tapes would give us further insight into the minds of the two subjects and those alike. Therefore, resulting in preventative measures to avoid situations as tragic as Columbine.

  • Keep the Federal Government Out of State Marijuana Laws
My brother was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for the first-time non-violent conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Many organizations and states have voted on legalizing marijuana for medical uses. California is one. The Justice Department and other federal agencies have been busy spending a lot of taxpayer money to raid and close down these state approved operations. I want the federal government to cease and desist in their war against state's rights to set their own laws.
