• To much time given to nonviolent offenders in the USA
Why is the federal government giving life sentences to drug dealers? Jails were made for violent offenders. When is this going to stop? My son is facing life for selling drugs. Once these guys get out, they can't get a job because they are felons. Come on USA, we've got to do better by our people. The USA is creating monsters in these jails.

  • Hawaii's 2012 Human Trafficking Report Card & 17 Other States Failed Too...
We must work together and our state Legislators need to help US fix or rewrite the law to end/stop modern-day slavery. The issue drew the attention of President Obama at former President Bill Clinton's Clinton Global Initiative on Tuesday (Sept. 25), where Obama said the estimated 20 million victims of human trafficking would become a major focus of his Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships. "Like that Good Samaritan on the road to Jericho, we can't just pass by, indifferent," Obama said. "We've got to be moved by compassion. We've got to bind up the wounds."

  • Legalize the recreational use and dispensary of Marijuana in Florida
If Marijuana was legalized in Florida, it could be taxed and it would help the State balance it's budget. Marijuana is not an addictive drug, nor does it lead to worse drugs. Marijuana doesn't hurt you like tobacco or Alcohol.

  • Investigate Voter Supression in the 2012 Election
Lobbying groups and political strategists have pushed changes to voting laws in numerous state legislatures which sought to make it more difficult for certain portions of the electorate to cast their ballots. Disenfranchisement tactics included voter ID laws, shortened early voting hours and days, voter purges and illegal voter registration practices. The apparently coordinated tactics, under the guise of fighting voter fraud, were designed to influence the outcome of the 2012 election by suppressing the turnout of specific voting groups. We call on our leaders in the White House and Congress to fully investigate this threat to democracy, prosecute those found to have acted illegally and make legislative changes to prevent this type of abuse from happening in the future.

Legalize recreational marijuana to: -Prevent the incarceration of citizens who are non-violent offenders -Provide easy access to a medicinal substance which is safer than alcohol, tobacco, and most pharmaceutical drugs. -Stop wasting billions of taxpayer dollars on the "War on Drugs", which is in effect a war on people -Prevent the inflow of marijuana from Mexico, which fuels the drug cartels responsible for much violence and suffering

  • CUT THE WASTE IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
Our State spends more on prisons than on the University system. The result: bloated costs for law enforcement, jails, prisons, and Courts -- accompanied by a reduction in our ability to provide college-level education and its benefits to individual students and our State's economy. Students are faced with foregoing education or incurring enormous personal debt -- and we all lose. California's economic engine depends on a highly educated workforce. It is time to re-examine our priorities when the cost of a year in prison to society is many times greater than the cost of a year in college.

  • Bring good time back to prisoners in Michigan, who didn't kill, rape or molest anyone
We are paying more to incarcerate a prisoner than we pay to educate a child. They are now going into elementary schools counting heads for the prison system. Tell congress we can’t afford our children not to be educated. Put money in our schools and not in the hands of private investors for prisons. Our prisons are overcrowded and the state is saying they can’t afford to feed them. In prison and they are now giving the inmates bag food. This along with the mental and physical abuse by the guards only make more harden crimminals.

  • The Problem with Detroit
Is actually rampant, unchecked crime because of the small number of police officers. When we call 911, there is no hope of the police showing up.
