Nan's LawNan's Law is the name given to our efforts to pass a law to force hotels/motels to do background checks on future employees who have access to guest rooms. It is named for our daughter, Nan Toder who was brutally murdered by the maintenance man in a suburban Chicago motel in December 1996. She had her bags packed and stored behind her room door as she was very cautious. She thought the connecting room door was locked, too. However, the murderer (who had a criminal record) had 'fixed' it so it would not lock. He used his pass key to enter the adjoning room door, strangled her & slashed her with a machete. We'd like a petition to the Pennsylvania legislature to require background checks. We hope other states will also consider passing such an obviously needed law.See www.nanslaw.org for more information. Thank you, Lin & Sol Toder10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sol W. Toder

Pres. Obama: Start Granting Clemency and CommutationsPresident Obama has repeatedly failed to use the clemency and commutations process that is within his power. He has granted clemency more rarely than any modern president. Under Obama an applicants chance of getting his or her sentence commuted is about 1 in 5000. This is the worst record of any modern president. Our judicial system over the past 30 years has become unbalanced to the extreme. Obama's callous disregard of the process of pardons and commutations is a shame. Please sign my petition and make others aware of this issue.34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bridget Borer

Save the American People from Grover NortquistI have not been personally affected by what Grover Norquist is pulling, but I have been outraged! I don't see how he can get these Congressmen to sign that pledge and then hold it over their heads if they don't stick to it.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carol Clark

Indict Gov. CorbettPennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett should be indicted for his years of inaction in his role as Attorney General during the Penn State scandal. His intentional ignorance for personal political interests directly resulted in the abuse of countless innocent children at the hands of predator Jerry Sandusky.47 of 100 SignaturesCreated by TJ Salonick

Electronic voter fraud Ohio 2004 Foiled 2012?.Whether true or not this story has the potential to undermine all faith in the electoral system and the rule of law. If people believe this story then it will be easy to see any unexpected result as fraudulent. So it needs to be investigated and doubts laid to rest.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Luck

End the Federal Governments "marijuana wars"Two states have currently legalized marijuana, but the federal government is still cracking down on users (especially on california dispensaries). Legalizing marijuana is a state issue, and the federal government should leave it to the states to decide their own marijuana laws.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jack

Stop Concealed Carry of Guns in IllinoisIllinois is the only state that does not allow people to carry concealed weapons. The NRA and other gun-industry groups are lobbying the Illinois legislature to pass a concealed carry bill. Concealed carry would bring more guns into public places and make it much more difficult for police to get guns off the streets. Sign the petition and tell the Illinois legislature that we do not want concealed carry in Illinois.7,774 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by Lee Goodman, Stop Concealed Carry Coalition
