• Sealing or Selling Criminal Records
This petition is about all the people that get affected when a misdemeanor or felony record gets sealed or expunged, and the courthouses sell the case information to private companies, just after a very, very short period of time after being charged, exposing such records to prospect employers, without informing the outcome of the case, if the case was sealed/expunged, or if this case was dropped due to lack of evidence. Private back-ground companies buy criminal records from the courthouses, but the problem is that this companies fail to retrieve such record when the case gets sealed/expunged by Judge orders. I am not sure if the law don't require them to do so, or if its just the fact that they don't care about the individual's life and carrier. If a person would like to have their background completely hidden (court/companies), such person has to obtain a Judge order (process is about 6 months to 1 year) and after that this person would have to request/prove it, to each and every one of those same companies, state by state. A monumental task! I worked as a legal assistant in FL, and I couldn't believe it! Sometimes people get charged, and later, they are found innocent/not involved on the matter but that doesn't count! The fact of the matter here is, that you were charged and a criminal case was opened, and the outcome is irrelevant!!!; and the worst part of it, is that these people are charged with a non-violent crime, or there was a lack of evidence (innocent). This is a very important issue that could affect any of us in a personal and professional way; no one will hire you with a criminal record, and these records could be used against you in a custody battle, for example... If the government is clearing us of any charge, I don't understand why private companies don't have to comply in the same standard as our government.

  • Americans Demand a Plan to End Gun Violence
We are sickened by the deaths of innocent victims at the hands of angry and disturbed individuals. The sale of illegal assault weapons has become a lucrative trade and a national disgrace. Our political leaders have proved that they are too timid to take action. It is up to us!

  • Oregon: Unfairly Accused and Convicted
I went on a trip to Boise Idaho with a family friend in November 2000. Upon getting to Boise I found out that this person was a run away from his mother. He used me for a out. On coming back from Boise through Oregon and stopped on a traffic stop. The family friend advised the Oregon officer that I had kidnapped him along with other charges. He knew he was going to juvenile cause he was a run away. I was arrested on kidnapping and other charges. I sat in county jail for a year on counts that I did not do. I was appointed a lawyer and at the end he took a plea bargain and bailed on me. The day of court I thought I was going to court but my lawyer had me sign the plea bargain and explained it later. I was looking at 6 1/2 years for crimes I did not do. I end up doing 14 months. The person came back to Washington and admitted to his friends that he lied to get out of the run away charge and probation charges. There has been at least 6 people to and make reports the Centralia Washington Police to what the person has told them. Centralia Police will not release, reopen, or make right the charges. They are keeping all new reports hid in files so they can not be found. They say that my witness are not creditable. 14 months in jail, 6 years probation, $5000 plus in fines and a life time of registering. This person has done this same thing to his dad, step dad, a case worker, myself, and was working on 3 others when I got back to Washington. I can not get Oregon, Washington to listen to me that there was a big dis justice done here and that he is the one that needs to be the felon. My whole life has been affected with this. My lively hood was taken from me as store detective, and all of my rights. I am asking for help with your signatures so I can send this to the Governor of the state of Oregon and get my name cleared of all of these charges.

  • President Obama: Pardon Chris Williams
After Montana legalized medical marijuana, Chris Williams started a marijuana growing operation. Despite the Obama Justice Department's assurances that it would not prosecute people for growing marijuana within the limits of state law, Mr. Williams was raided by federal officers and arrested; during his trial, he was prohibited from using the fact that he was following state law as a defense. While Jerry Sandusky got a 30-year minimum sentence for raping young boys, Mr. Williams is looking at a mandatory minimum of more than 80 years for marijuana charges and for possessing firearms during a drug-trafficking offense. The only legal hope for Chris Williams now is for President Obama to pardon him. Read more here: http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal-a/2012_11/president_obama_must_pardon_th041118.php

  • THE ALICIA AMENDMENT
This Petition is to address the flaws in the Amber Law. (1) There may be a failure to act because of age or lack of suspect. (2) Not every missing child is assumed at risk of danger or death. Because of these two criteria currently in effect, Alicia Moore's killer had time to murder her. America, We must stand together and fight for "THE ALICIA AMENDMENT to the Amber Law"! One life lost is one too many!

  • Force Congress to Act on the Single Largest White Collar Crime in America: Identity Theft
Identity Theft is the single largest crime in the United States. Each year hundreds of thousands of individuals, including new borns and teenagers are victim of Social Security and Identiy Theft, yet Congress and the White House have refused to act to protect its Citizens by passing any Legislation in regards to Identity Theft Protection. As the only TWO TIME victim of Identiy Theft (first social security number compromised in 2000 and a NEW Social Security Number compromised by Countrywide Home Loans selling it in 2008), I have a Federal Court Ordered Mandate for a Legislative Remedy from 2010 that has been ignored by EVERY Member of Congress (House and Senate) and the White House. We need to Force Congress to Act. Together we can make a difference.
