We need to stop the slaughter of innocent people and the trauma that goes with these events. The only way to to this is to send messages to the government and the NRA that we gun control that is more strict. Please sign this petition and forward it.

Do we have to continue to endure the killing of our children--at Newtown and in our cities.

We CAN have sensible gun control WITHOUT impinging on the Second Amendment. We have limited the First Amendment with common sense; You can't shout FIRE in a crowded theatre. We can do the same for the Right to Bare Arms. Having the Right to Bare Arms comes with a HUGE responsibility and should be treated that way. A gun is a dangerous lethal weapon and we have less regulation of guns than we do of cars and who can drive them. That is crazy! Heavy, strict regulation of guns DOES NOT limit the rights of citizens who are of sound mind, legal age, and non-criminal background to bare arms. It preserves the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness for the majority of citizens in our United States. No one should be gunned down by a mentally unstable person, a criminal or child in possession of a dangerous firearm. We can make sensible laws to prevent mass murders and other gun violence without violating our Second Amendment.

People go to prison for possessing small quantities of marijuana. Why are bank criminals who enable murderers and terrorists let off with a small fine paid for by a criminal corporation? Is small time crime the only prosecutable offense in America any more?

Kids should play dodge ball and not dodge bullets......please take a stand and help stop the gun violence. One community at a time

My son Eddie Jr, who is now 16 years old has received very little support from his dad. His dad moved 3000 miles away, and re-married while we are still married. My son has not seen his dad since he was 7 years old. His dad used his Social Security Number in 2008, 2009, 2010 to work to avoid paying child support.

Victoria Soto was the courageous young teacher who gave her own life, protecting her students at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. To honor her and the 20 first-grade students who lost their young lives, we are petitioning President Obama and Congress to speedily enact a law to be called the Victoria Soto Childhood Protection Act. Civil rights activist and Native American Leonard Peltier has been imprisoned for 37 years and is in poor health. Many believe that Peltier’s trial was politically motivated, tainted by prosecutorial and judicial misconduct, and that he is a political prisoner, innocent of the charges of which he was convicted. Advocates for Peltier’s release include Amnesty International, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the National Congress of American Indians, Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Center for Human Rights, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama, Jesse Jackson, Harry Belafonte, Michael Moore, etc.

It's important to balance gun rights with responsibilities.

I am a mother of two young boys and here is my thought, after having given this a great deal of thought, IT IS UP TO US TO DO SOMETHING NOW. This country has changed, there was a time when the common good of our people was put first, when careful thought was given to what a child or teen was viewing or holding in their sweet, innocent hands. Now, the good of profit and greed are our guiding principles and have been for a long time- that's what has changed. No longer do people care about what a child might be playing with or seeing on television, much less that interviewing children who just went through the most horrific experience of their lives was going through- but hey, they needed their ratings, right? I grew up watching The Brady Bunch, Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons and Walter Cronkite. The news was informative and always had a good story to lift your heart. So, here are my promises and my pleas: The games, which we have almost none of anyway, they are gone and never to return. I will not spend one penny on violence! Video and game companies- FIX THIS! The news, if you continue to sensationalize violence....I'm done watching, not that I watch much as you lost me a long time ago! CNN, NBC,CBS, FOX, ABC - STOP THIS, NOW! Corporate America- CARE! Gun owners - consider turning them in or simply locking them away until your life is in danger - why else would use them? NRA, gun control wary folks- WAKE UP and DO SOMETHING. Congress - GET A BACKBONE, CHANGE THIS - PLEASE. President Obama - WE NEED YOU TO LEAD THE WAY, PLEASE! IT IS UP TO US TO DO SOMETHING NOW!
