Many AKC Parent Clubs are taking advantage of the AKC ruling to allowing qualified non-permitted individuals to judge specialty shows. The DCPA Constitution & By-Laws requires that individuals nominated be AKC Approved Judges. The Constitution needs to be revised to allow members the right to nominate any individuals the membership deems qualified to preside over our dogs at Specialty shows whether they be AKC permitted or not..

My grandson was murdered by someone that he met on a dating site. Dating sites need to be secured. He was only 22, just a kid and he met this girl that he thought was a nice girl. He went to meet her and Lords only know what he was confronted by. He never returned. His remains have not been found. Not only that, other people have been murdered and robbed by going to met people out there. It has been in the news several times for this in all states. They are well known for this type of criminal activity on their site. However, nothing has been done about this. The owners of these should add security application to monitor and make sure criminal activities are not occurring on their site, such as, make sure of addresses, phone numbers, and to include pictures identification to be used to sign up on these dating sites. The owners and the investors can add all types of technical protocol to the site as well as post notices of the dangers to be aware of with a warning blurb. A statement of the facts to educate the public and notices of how to obtain knowledge of the person they are communicating with out there. If a person ends up missing after going on dates out there it can be easily traced back to the person/s that they were communicating with. Implement policies and procedures for verification of identification and not be able to use fraudulent names such as with signing up for Facebook. If a person ends up missing or murdered it can be traced easily. There is no warning for people to be aware of this type of activity that is going on before signing up for these sites. People are losing their lives and it has been in the news many times. Yet nothing has been changed to help to prevent criminals from continuing to use these sites to set up people. Also, people have to sign and agree to these policies to be on their sites. Because if this is proof that a person was murdered for using these site that company is liable to be sued.

Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) recently investigated Zonneveld Farm, a member of the Land O’Lakes dairy cooperative. According to Land O’Lakes, 100% of their farms are compliant with the minimal animal welfare conditions set by the Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) program. Despite this claim, investigators found hundreds of baby cows, some as young as one-day old, in small individual crates without their mothers and with no bedding, comfort, or enrichment. Many of the babies were sick, covered in diarrhea, sores, and even maggots. This is not the first investigation of a Land O’Lakes farm to reveal animals cruelty, indicating this is a widespread problem in the industry. Dairy farming almost always involves forced impregnation and separation of mother and baby, who cry and bellow for each other. During the course of the investigation, DxE investigators rescued a sick baby calf from a crate and named her Roselynn. While Roselynn recovered with 24 hour care, she is still without her mother. Leaked documents included in the so-called "Paradise Papers," a trove of information about the offshore tax havens of some of the world's largest corporations and wealthiest people, have revealed that billionaire Wilbur Ross, a friend of Trump and currently Commerce Secretary in his administration, hid his current business dealings with Vladimir Putin's son-in-law. Ross is now understood to be involved in a financially lucrative shipping venture with Russian individuals currently under U.S. sanctions. This news comes as the Trump Russia investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller intensifies. There is no possible way for Ross to remain commerce secretary--and attend in a trustworthy manner to our nation's business--with such intense Russian entanglements and conflicts of interest. A divisive group, consisting primarily of people from outside of Hudson, have formed "The Citizens for St. Croix Valley". They promote messages that do not represent the spirit of the residents of Hudson. This group fosters fear of Muslims, GLBT people, have mischaracterized educational programs to promote learning about world religions as promoting Sharia law and in general, encourage hate of "others".

By creating a "Trick or Treat Day" that falls on the last Saturday of October, more children (and adults!) can enjoy visiting neighbors and not have the worries of staying up or being out too late on a school/work evening. This does not affect the religious celebrations of Halloween that will remain on the 31st. As a parent myself, I understand the frustration of both parents and homeowners when trick or treating falls on a school night. Many love this tradition but when it lands on a day during the week, it becomes a burden for parents and homeowners alike. By creating a "Trick or Treat Day" across Massachusetts as the last Saturday of October, then the inconvenience is alleviated and those who celebrate October 31st as a religious holiday can continue with their annual traditions. We believe that starting Massachusetts "Trick or Treat Day" in October of 2018 gives state residents plenty of time to adapt to the new day of celebration and candy giving!
