I am heartbroken that the Brooklyn Botanical Garden has practically erased it's free admission hours. My high school students used to go after school on Tuesdays to sit under the cherry blossoms. Families used to spend Tuesdays, and Saturday mornings wandering the paths, their children delighting in wonders we city folks can't normally access. We have to raise our standards; it is not okay for our cultural institutions to be available only to the economically privileged. When I was a kid, the garden was free to all, every day. My mother still remembers the day, right after they began charging, that a big family turned away in disappointment, unable to afford entry. Free hours only on a Friday morning mean that no working person can go, and no young people can go. This is unacceptable! I have lived in Brooklyn my entire life, and been a member of the garden for the last four years. It is one of my favorite places. And I miss the sweetness of the Tuesday scene when the garden filled with families, youth, couples on dates. This is a plea to fix this wrong immediately; please BBG, be the community resource you are meant to be. Do not participate in discrimination!

Zundel's Road going to Mobile Bay in Point Clear, AL was blocked with a fence by the County Commission on April 24, 2018. My husband and I tore down the fence and deposited it in the Commissioner's office. We have stopped the Commission four times before but they continue to ignore the Alabama Supreme Court decision in (McPhillips v. Brodbeck) of 1971 that states you cannot block vehicular access on Zundel's Road.

I'm starting this petition because deaf and hearing impaired people do actually exist and like to be able to enjoy the same luxuries as people who can hear fine. The theaters do not treat these people fairly and provide very poor equipment for them. A massive change needs to happen and this is just the start.

As of today, for the summer of 2018 Race Trac will no longer be continuing soda pallooza. This is a tragedy for those who cherished this wonderful time of the year, lets get it back!

Dear City Council members and City Staff. We are reaching out regarding several proposed affordable housing projects that are seeking City Council approval as well as Housing Trust Funds. Specifically, these are the three projects that would be clustered in Derita, the Nevin Rd Apartments, Sugar Creek Greene, and Mineral Springs, which total to 208 units serving residents making between 30%-60% of the area median income. These are slated for an area less than one mile radius from our center at Mallard Creek and Sugar Creek Rds. We fear that clustering these projects in this already affordable neighborhood would not serve the city’s interest as a whole and certainly not the interest of the neighborhood. While Charlotte at large has an affordable housing problem, a drive through Derita or searching through listings will show you that Derita does not. The area is consistently one of the most affordable areas of the city. A meal at Maria’s Grill, a neighborhood staple, shows you a diverse community that lives and works together, in what could be a model for other areas. Residents and local community and business leaders have been working very hard to advocate for investments and improvements in Derita, battling negative perceptions and frankly, the reality of being overlooked for decades. Derita and Mineral Springs, with their proximity to University City has the opportunity to be recognized as prosperous and desirable community once again. At that time, affordable housing may indeed be warranted as people are drawn to the area and prices rise. The free market will reshape Derita – hopefully for the better. It is our belief that subsidizing what could be negative influences on the community that deter future development and redevelopments would be a mistake. The heavy industrial uses to the south and negative influences down the Sugar Creek corridor (primarily clustered at the I-85 interchange) contribute to the low land prices in this area. This has also been worsened by the massively delayed University City Connector and Graham Street Extension / Mallard Creek re-alignment. This project is still incomplete, though the neighborhood business association and Derita Statesville Road Community Organization, seeing the negative business effects, has been vocal in working with NC-DOT on seeing progress. Thank you for reading this and hearing our opinion. We trust that city staff and city council members will hear our concerns and consider other ways to disperse affordable housing throughout Charlotte.

As a college athlete I feel that we should get paid because we are bringing revenue to the school, and don't have free time to get a job to support us outside of school.

San Francisco just became the first major US city to ban fur! This is the precedent we need to take the fur ban global, and other cities and countries are already discussing passing this progressive law. Let's show support from around the world for a fur ban in the UK!

In the current age more and more people rely on cell or mobile phones as a primary means of communication. The area bounded by St Clair Road, Route 271/Menoher Boulevard and as far out as Fender Lane have extremely little if any coverage at all. Consumers are forced to purchase boosters for their households. Recent school shootings highlight the need for cell phone coverage. Coverage at the Westmont Hilltop High School both in and outdoor is almost non existent. The four major cell phone companies, AT&T, SPRINT, VERIZON and T-MOBILE all claim to provide coverage in the area. The purpose of the petition is to hold these companies accountable for the service consumers are paying for, and not receiving.

I am a student and once proud scholar here at Key West Collegiate Academy, but because of Mr. Louis's sudden termination, we the students are outraged. Mr. Louis was the only teacher that cared about his students on a personal level and the reasons for his termination are unjustified.
