Once again, Donald Trump has made it clear that his administration will embrace policies that pose serious threats to millions of Americans. We need to help make sure Congress holds the line. Trump's appointment of Bannon has been heralded by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, as well as the chairman of the American Nazi Party and other ultra right-wing pundits who believe Bannon will be able to fulfill Trump's most bigoted campaign promises. Trump has said recently that he would attempt to be a president for all Americans. Yet by choosing Bannon as a top advisor in one of his first big post-election moves, Trump continues to demonstrate that he's far more interested in peddling a dangerous and divisive agenda than in working toward real solutions to our country's challenges. We need to build the collective force necessary to put members of Congress on notice that we expect them to vehemently oppose Bannon's appointment, using all the tools at their disposal, including holds on all further Trump appointments.

Now that Donald J. Trump is the President Elect, he should be required to release his tax returns. We are trusting him with the fate of country. We need to know his personal wealth is not tied to foreign interests.

In the wake of the 2016 election, one thing has become increasingly clear: there is a huge problem with the news that tens of millions of Americans get from Facebook. According to a recent Pew poll, 62% of Americans now get news on social media, with Facebook overwhelmingly being the most popular platform. And yet too often it was not news that Americans found on Facebook, but rather fake stories dressed up as the news. Evidence shows that Facebook is riddled with lies. One report even found that teenagers in Macedonia were able to game Facebook and get their Trump propaganda posts shared into the news feeds of millions. Earlier this year, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg sat down with conservatives who complained that right-wing news was suppressed on Facebook. It was after that meeting that Facebook fired their human editors and replaced them all with algorithms. This decision further unleashed fake news on Facebook. A new bombshell report revealed that Facebook knew about the fake news problem and had the ability to do something about it, but declined to fix the issue out of fear that the right-wing would complain. If we have learned anything from the past two decades, it is that it is crucial not to cave to right-wing bullying and manipulations. Despite overwhelming data and insider reporters, Mark Zuckerberg refuses to even acknowledge the problem publicly. (Which is odd given that he was willing to sit down with discredited right-wing misinformers over totally unsubstantiated cries of bias) Join us in asking Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook to take two concrete steps: 1) Acknowledge the problem of the proliferation of fake news on Facebook. 2) Commit to taking action to fix the problem. It’s high time that Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook fix their fake news problem and address the fever swamp/cesspool of misinformation that Facebook has become. If that hurts liberals, so be it. If that hurts conservatives, so be it. If that hurts teenagers publishing fake news in Macedonia, so be it. Let the chips fall where they may. It’s time for the truth to have its day. That’s all we’re asking for.

We have the opportunity to raise up like a Phoenix, or continue to do the same things that got us into this mess. America has voted for change. They wanted Bernie. He is the most popular politician in America. Let the people have Bernie!

Steven Bannon is the face of Breitbart News and its leading voice in expressing racist and misogynist hate. There should never be a place in our government for a person representing those beliefs. President Elect Trump has appointed Steven Bannon to White House Chief Strategist. We request Bannon be removed from that role immediately, and disallowed from a role in our democratic government, which represents all people equally.

All Americans must be assured that Donald Trump's financial dealings have not, and will not, place his personal and financial interest ahead of the interest of the American people. As president-elect, Donald Trump is now required to put our interests before his own. To fully legitimize his standing as president-elect, Donald Trump must make his financial records public now.

The Loyal White Knights of Pelham, N.C. have announced they are holding a rally in "honor" of President-elect Donald Trump winning the presidency. Now is the time for all individuals to call on the President-elect to denounce the Loyal White Knights, David Duke, and all other white supremacist organizations -- both obvious and those who hide under the banner of the alt-right.

I want a president who reports to me and the people in this country, not one who chases his own business interests. Tax returns are the one way that we the people can discover areas of potential conflict of interest and corruption in our elected officials. We have just elected a president whose businesses are confidential. How can he maintain distance from all the business interests of the 500 companies that Trump and his family own in the US and all over the world? How can he maintain distance from his sons and daughters who will run the business when he becomes president? We need to be sure he does. Tax returns are one way to help do this.

The President-elect is hiding something potentially dangerous from the American people. We need to know this information before he is inaugurated in January.

Not too far from where I live, a Saudi college student named Hussain Saeed Alnahdi was beaten and killed on the street in heavily Republican and rural Menomonie, Wisconsin. I am also acquainted with others throughout the United States whose property has been damaged and who have been slandered by racial and hateful language. They are living with fear as the violence increases and have a right to be protected. I petition to insist that the President-elect of the Unites States of America publicly distance himself from hate-driven behaviors, notably so among his supporters. The hate-motivated behaviors have invaded our neighborhoods, colleges, and streets. We all have been affected, directly or indirectly.

Regardless of Hillary Clinton’s concession, a close analysis must be done of the actual voting results (machine tabulations and paper ballots cast) versus the vote reporting (to the board of elections and Secretary of State offices). Some important facts collectively warrant this: 1) Russians have heavily influenced this election for the past six months and have successfully hacked into the election systems of more than half the states in the country; 2) Major public polls and the Clinton campaign's internal polls were historically off the mark, and in the campaign's case, didn't match the voter file records, which is unheard of to this level. This is especially odd considering that Clinton's campaign manager Robby Mook is one the most brilliant in politics when it comes to micro-targeting and voter analysis. Even GOP strategist and pollster Frank Luntz called the 2016 exit polls “the worst and least accurate we’ve ever seen,” in a Tweet sent on election night. 3) Homeland Security/DOJ teamed up with a group that is part of Anonymous based in Washington, D.C. called “The Protectors.” This group saw a lot of activity during Election Day from the Russians and believe that the voting results projected don’t match the internal and public polls because the voting results were manufactured in favor of Trump in heavily Republican counties in key states, and voting results may have been decreased for Clinton in key Democratic counties via malware that was placed by the Russians when they hacked the election systems of more than half our states. 4) Trump/Manafort set-up the “rigged election” narrative months ago preparing for exactly this scenario. This is straight out of Manafort’s playbook, and Putin’s, too — accuse the other side of doing what you’re doing so that you cannot be accused of doing it. There is no short supply of examples of this: Putin regularly accuses the US of meddling in Russia’s affairs when he annexed Crimea, invaded east Ukraine, and holds sham elections in Russia. 5) Kellyanne Conway, an expert conservative pollster, was selected as Trump’s campaign manager when Paul Manafort took too much heat about his Russian’s connections and “resigned” (though he has likely continued to be involved behind the scenes and continues to have a residence in Trump Towers), and Conway helped lead messaging that polls were all wrong and that Trump has “shadow supporters,” a term that mainstream journalists echoed as the election results began to favor Trump. 6) Paul Manafort, who has heavy ties to the Kremlin, is being federally investigated for his work in Ukraine, was virtually silent since resigning from Trump’s campaign a few months ago, but sent his first tweet since resigning last week saying that by the Sunday before the election Trump would have the 270 votes needed to win (despite internal and public polls saying otherwise).
