  • Pro-Choice License Plates
I believe in separation of church and state and this legislation passed to allow "pro-life" license plates without the counter more widely supported viewpoint is unacceptable.

  • Just say no to Joe: Don't confirm Joe Lieberman as FBI Director
The next FBI director must be someone who has the trust and respect of Americans across the political spectrum, and it is critical that this person be seen as above political in-fighting. Joe Lieberman is not that person. The job of FBI director should not go to a politician, but rather to an experienced professional who can help steer the agency in their tumultuous time. Furthermore, Lieberman has show repeatedly during his political career that he lacks the fortitude to do what is right in challenging political times. It is critically important to fill the vacant FBI Director post, but Joe Lieberman is the worst possible candidate for this role. Tell your Senators to vote "No" if Lieberman's nomination ever comes before the Senate.

  • Tell Congress: We must know the truth about Trump
Former FBI Director James Comey has publicly come forward saying that Donald Trump asked him to stop an investigation into Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn's connections to Russia. If the reports are true, this is clear obstruction of justice—and the integrity of democratic institutions is at risk. Now, even some Republicans in Congress have begun to say these revelations might warrant impeachment. As the news continues to show more and more improper—and possibly illegal—conduct from Donald Trump's White House, it's more important than ever for us to raise our voices and demand action.

  • Please Renew the Lawrence O'Donnell Show
We need to have a progressive media answer to Fox. In recent weeks they have hired or promoted some decidedly right-wing personalities. Former Fox News anchor Greta Van Susteren now has her own show on MSNBC. Former communications director for George W, Bush, Nicolle Wallace, also just premiered a new program. Likewise conservative pundit Hugh Hewitt. This week MSNBC announced that it has hired old-school conservative George Will away from Fox News.

  • San Francisco Coalition Urges Mayor Ed Lee to Honor SSB Tax Guidelines
Sugar-sweetened beverages are the main source of added sugar in our diet. It is critical that the funds from San Francisco's Sugary Drinks Distributor Tax go towards programs to prevent obesity, diabetes, tooth decay, and heart disease amongst the city's most vulnerable populations. Recommendations for these funds must happen by and through the 16 member advisory committee. We urge the Mayor to sequester the funds from January-June 2018 to allow the advisory committee to make its recommendations.

  • SAVE LAWRENCE O'DONNELL'S SHOW, "THE LAST WORD"!!!!!
HELP! Andrew Lack, the new Chairman of NBC News and MSNBC is veering MSNBC to the hard-right, bringing on former Fox News TV hosts, Greta Von Susteren, Megyn Kelly (and rumors are that Hugh Hewitt will be given some sort of weekend talk show!) But that's not far enough for Mr. Lack. He wants to deprive liberals of the few remaining brave, intelligent and enlightened liberal voices left in mainstream media! Apparently, he hasn't renewed Lawrence O'Donnell's highly rated late-night program, THE LAST WORD, and it just has four weeks left before it could go off the air for good!!!! According to a news article in the Huffington Post, "There is a fear, among some at MSNBC, that Lack is making programming decisions in an effort to appease the Trump administration (an accusation that has been made of CNN and Fox News), which may lead to more access to the White House and in turn, conservative viewers." Also mentioned in this same article, "According to three sources, Trump has pressured MSNBC President Phil Griffin to fire O’Donnell on multiple occasions. " If you love JOY REID, RACHEL MADDOW, CHRIS HAYES AND LAWRENCE O'DONNELL, we, as viewers, must fight to keep them on the air and off of Andrew Lack's chopping block! Take to Twitter and Facebook and start your own SAVE, "THE LAST WORD" campaign. Call and write NBC News. Most importantly, keep watching THE LAST WORD with Lawrence O'Donnell! • Yale: Negotiate with your Graduate Teachers
Eight members of Local 33-UNITE HERE, the union for graduate teachers at Yale, are fasting to protest the university’s refusal to bargain with us. Here’s why: We voted to unionize in February. But Yale has refused to negotiate. Instead the university has engaged in months of legal delay, attempting to buy time until Donald Trump can seat new appointees to the National Labor Relations Board who will void our votes and roll back our rights. We’ve done all this for a simple reason. We want a voice and a seat at the table. Our members, like many young workers in this economy, have to deal with intense economic insecurity. We face punishing competition in a declining career track. Women experience an epidemic of sexual harassment in academia. People of color are systemically marginalized. We want change, and we’ve been told to wait for too long. Our fast and fight back will keep going until we’re heard.
