  • RESTORE NYSOFA FUNDING!
Many of my patients depend on NYSOFA funding and the critical services Erie County Senior Services provides. Cuts to this funding will put the health and well-being of thousands of Erie County seniors in jeopardy. I am writing to urge you to restore critical funding to The New York State Office for the Aging to protect vital services for older New Yorkers. These services keep costs down and ensure older New Yorkers remain as active and independent as possible at home in the community. Please restore the following budget items in the final, 2017-2018 New York State Budget: • Fully Restore New York Connects funding to The State Office for the Aging (SOFA) budget, and keep a dedicated, state-funded revenue stream in place to support NY Connects- serving more than 230,000 older New Yorkers and their families each year, with information and assistance on long term care options; • Restore the 25% county match exemption under the Community Services for the Elderly (CSE) Program to preserve local funding to operate home delivered meals, non-medical transportation, in homecare and case management services, services for the elderly, so they can remain independent at home; • Support an additional $24 million for Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP), in order to provide the 15,000 older New Yorkers on waiting lists statewide for EISEP services, such as case management and homecare; • Reject $7.4 million in proposed cuts for Direct Care Worker cost of living adjustments (COLA’s). This funding, enacted in 2015 to provide a wage increase to direct care workers who provide seniors with services such as personal care and bathing, is now slated for cuts because the funds weren’t adopted as anticipated, due to complications with worker identification. I am counting on you to advocate for and use your influence to help preserve these critical services for seniors in New York State. Thank you for your consideration and help with this important matter.

  • Protect our children from online pornography
Has your child or has a child you know been exposed to graphic images online? Chances are yes; the stats are shocking, more than 80% of our children have been exposed to graphic pornographic content online by the age of 11. Why are we, as a society, allowing this kind of content to be accessed so easily by so many of our children? It just doesn't make any sense. Don't let the online pornographers be the ones teaching our children about intimacy. Stand with me and say no! Let's protect our children from this inappropriate and damaging online content!

  • Felons and voting
I would like to speak out for thousands of convicted felons whom are expected to change their actions and way of life yet our rights are stripped from us. How can our voices be heard and changes be expected to happen if we can't be heard? Taking our right to vote away is only trying to confirm that we are nothing, nobody's, and that our opinions and voices are no longer valued, which in turn strips us of our feelings of self worth in turn hindering our process of positive change. We can not be coached to make positive changes and then have our voices be taken from us.

  • NFL Boycott until Colin Kapernick is signed
Colin Kapernick exercised his right to silent protest against the National Anthem and donated $1 million dollars to social justice related organizations as a result. It has been said that he has been "blackballed" by all NFL teams due to his decision to advocate for people of color, and social justice. As citizens of this world, who support leaders who rise above their privilege and position to advocate for causes greater than themselves and who use their platform to create greater awareness, will always end up on the right side of history. Please join in with us to share that we will vote with our dollars until this is addressed.

  • Remove the Globe and the National Enquirer from Walmart Stores in the U.S.
Seeing fake news titles and descriptions at the grocery checkout reinforces what the more gullible may already think and reinforces their brainwashing. These “magazines” are nothing more than Brietbart or Fox News or worse at the checkout. When I get to the checkout stand I do not want to be angered by these vile rags. Does my grocer want an angry customer at the checkout or a happy customer. These lies need to go.

  • Stop transgender women and children from being further victimized
I am a transgender woman who has faced workplace discrimination on many occasions over issues regarding the bathroom. I have been targeted for violence because I am transgender and I have been harassed and even raped throughout the course of my life. 100% of the rhetoric, bigotry, and ostrication toward transgender people , comes from "personal" belief rather than evidence, and only justifiable by"religious reasoning" this is why the hateful rhetoric toward the transgender bathroom issue was started in Houston, by five VERY RELIGIOUS pastors... long before north carolina. People have a right to believe whatever they want to believe. It's their civil and human right, as long as they obey the secular law of the land. However they do not have the right to take away the civil and human rights of others because of their belief. The responsibility of the government is to protect its citizens from real threats that there is evidence for not imagined ones that there is absolutely zero evidence for. And separation of church and state is tantamount which is why it's the very first amendment.
