Anti-Whistleblower (Ag-Gag) LegislationThe industrial agriculture industry has been pushing for legislation that would make it illegal for employees or investigative journalists to film operations at their facilities, including farms and meat processing plants. Historically, these videos have uncovered serious abuses by these companies. With this legislation, which has passed in several States, future abuses will go unchecked.24 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kristine Watson

Save 920 Missouri Street, Lawrence, KSThe lovely century-old home located at 920 Missouri Street is slated for demolition on October 19. The Oread Neighborhood is losing its architectural gems rapidly, and this home is one of the few remaining on the 900 block of Missouri. The new owners (Joe and Gina Keating) intend to tear it down and build a duplex with 8 bedrooms for rent. Please sign below if would like to help prevent the demolition of this home and preserve the neighborhood. Historic update: Mattie Crumrine, Professor of French, lived at 920 Missouri while teaching at KU for 43 years. She walked up the hill as so many of us do every day to work on campus because she saw no need for a car. Her sister Anne lived on Missouri with her most of those 43 years.515 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Melissa Meyer

Save Tucson's cats -- Don't let city kill new community cat program!Just a month ago, Pima County launched a progressive lifesaving program to save Tucson's homeless cats by spaying and neutering instead of euthanizing them. But now, due to a budget dispute between Pima County and the City of Tucson, the entire program is at risk -- with more shelter deaths likely as a result. You can help us turn this around by letting Tucson's elected officials know you won’t stand for it! Pima County's community cat program, approved unanimously by the Board of Supervisors just last month, has attracted $900,000 in private funding and is a model of how to humanely and effectively reduce homeless cat populations. By contrast, the cost of the "traditional" approach to managing community cats -- euthanizing them by the thousands, and with no end in sight -- falls entirely on taxpayers and has proven to be both ineffective and publicly unpalatable. In less than a month, this program has lowered cat euthanasia at Pima Animal Care Center by more than 65 percent and should be the pride of city leaders, not a political football. Please sign this petition today and take a moment to reach out to Tucson's elected officials and let them know this is the kind of progressive, lifesaving program we want for our city! Stop NC voter suppression by Americans For ProsperityDemocracy is on the ropes in my state of North Carolina. An onslaught of political spending by out of state conservative organizations from the NRA to Karl Rove and the Koch Brothers has clogged the airwaves with right wing propaganda. But Americans for Prosperity, with their deep ties to the billionaire Koch Brothers, has doubled down on subverting democracy with a mailing that can and will confuse and mislead voters. Governor McCrory must take action to protect North Carolinians now!369 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Stephen L Blake

Tell AFP to Get Out of Our Elections!A few days ago, the Koch money-backed advocacy group, Americans For Prosperity (AFP) mailed out incorrect voter registration information to hundreds of citizens in North Carolina - and at least one cat. That's right, a cat. The group labeled these mailings as "official application forms" in an attempt to trick citizens into thinking they were registering to vote in the upcoming election. Ridiculous attempts like this to rig elections must stop now! To make the matter worse, no one seems to know where AFP got the list of people this mailing went to, and a citizen has even reported the "form" he received was addressed to his cat. This has to be the final straw for all Americans, not just NC voters. This is the United States of America - not the United States of David and Charles Koch. If action isn't taken on this now, we are letting the Koch brothers pick and choose who they want to sit in our legislatures and, serve as our judges. Join me in demanding that Americans For Prosperity explain to NC voters why they are illegally and unethically tampering with our democracy!2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Blake Mizelle

Mayor Kay: Allow Weymouth Youth Football & Cheer use of the baseball field for warm-upsWe, the families of Weymouth Youth Football and Cheerleading request permission to use the baseball field adjacent to the WHS turf field for game day warm-ups. To date, Mr. Slattery, a town employee, has denied all requests to permit our children a safe and easily accessible warm up space for their games. We hereby request that Mayor Kay use her authority to override the decision of Mr. Slattery and put the safety of our children before town politics.376 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Katie Garland

"Fox News" must no longer include "News" in its title.Viewers of Fox News are highly likely to be misinformed about the news. Fox News uses racism, sexism, and bigotry to manipulate the fears of its viewers. In today's world, it is dangerous for a large portion of U.S. viewers to be victims of this disinformation. Maintain Separation of Church and StateRecently, I heard a misinformed politician refer to America as a “Christian Nation” as if this were fact. But, in fact, America was founded on the principle of religious freedom with a key idea being that religion should not be injected into government or government into religion. This is the true and original American nation. Our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States make no reference to Christianity. Many of the founding fathers were Deists, not Christians. When making reference to the Creator, Lord, or God, they spoke in a generic sense not associated with any specific religious group or faction. The problem with countries that identify themselves as “religious” is that they’re frequently associated with social isolation, persecution, and murder within and beyond their borders. These things, our founding fathers abhorred and our many immigrant citizens escaped to come here in pursuit of the freedom we promised. By signing this petition, I am urging U.S. politicians to acknowledge that America belongs to a diverse group of citizens with the right to their own religious affiliation. America is not a “Christian Nation” but a country that respects all of its members. The falsehood proposed by some of today’s politicians that Americans belong to, or ought to belong to a particular religion, is, in my opinion, dangerous, inaccurate, and counter to the premise on which this nation was founded. Further, my signature confirms that I will not vote for any office seeker who tries to promote a narrow religious view on the citizenry of what seems to be an increasingly chauvinistic governance.477 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Iris Surette

Equal punishment for statutory rape victims male or femaleTo get an understanding of the system and the injustice for men. I have witnessed an incident such as this and the female started it by texting this young male phone and her father called the police and pressed charges. The text messages were still in this female phone when her daddy saw them. I believe the bond was set because the black daddy was a physical therapist of the small town. It was more her fault as well as the male and his bond was set at $100,000.00. This was not fair to the male and he has a good head on his shoulder and this was very sad to the entire family as well.53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sonja Martin

Take prescription drug advertisements off televisionI became very ill in 2011, and was soon bulldozed on 16 different pharmaceutical medications. I was given one medication and then more to treat the side effects of that and so on. I had been told that I was going to die either from the medication or from the disease that I had. Since that time, I have been disabled. With that, I have been home and watching more television than I ever have in my life. While gravely ill, I remember watching the advertisements and wanting to feel well and happy and do all of the positive things that they show in the ads. I have been taking back my health over the last year. It is a process and I am on a positive recovery pattern. Part of my recovery has been to reduce pharmaceuticals and only take them when the benefit outweighs the risk. While this is a personal choice one must make, it is essential to taking back one's health. I am not only recovering from the effects of the diseases I have, but also from pharmaceutical overload. I believe the advertisements are detrimental to a person's health, and often create tunnel vision with regard to health choices. Also, the subliminal seduction associated with advertising on television is no place for body and mind altering substances. Isn't that part of the reason that we took tobacco advertisements off of television? Let's put prescription drug information back where it should be. At the physician's office. Thank you.319 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Bulldozer Health Inc.
