We feel that the song "Renegade" by Styx has a history with the Pittsburgh Steelers like no other song before it. The opening a capella prelude acts as the ominous warning to the opposition, letting it know that trouble was on the horizon. Steelers' Marketing man Mike Marchinski started by playing it during games when the stadium opened. Within the last few years, it has become inexplicably connected to the Defense. Anytime the song is played on the defensive side, it brings with it a successful stop of the offense. Notably, in a Pittsburgh-Dallas game in December of 2008 Troy Polamalu notched an interception return for a touchdown. The QuikTrip SAP BL-13-001 has multiple Administrative Variances that do not provide greater protection to the public as required by the Beltline Overlay and the City of Atlanta Zoning Ordinance.

This gives us more time to continue voicing our concerns, gather more signatures, and talk to the Mayor, Redevelopment Authority and City Councilors. Why we started this petition: • To the best of our knowledge, the location of the Hampton Inn & Suites hotel to be built by ZMC Hotels, Inc. and Zenith Superior, LLC. may potentially violate the Wisconsin’s constitution, as part of the land that is planned to be sold to the developer used to be covered by water and was later filled to create land. Under the state’s constitution, article 9, section 1, filled land belongs to the citizens of Wisconsin and is protected by the Public Trust Doctrine. Legally, permissible uses for such filled land include public recreation and maritime commerce only. Hotels and similar developments are explicitly prohibited on such public land. The hotel site is also considered a part of the wetlands and is protected by the Rivers and Harbors Act and the Clean Water Act. Hence, legally, before the land sale and development can take place, Wisconsin DNR and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers must study the area and approve the land boundaries. • Taxpayers’ money should be used to finance public goods and services. Superior, WI needs to spend public funds to fix our roads, not subsidize a private corporation. By providing a public subsidy to the developer through Tax Incremental District #13, the City of Superior will divert $2.2 million in future tax revenue from local schools, libraries, roads, fire department and other public goods and services to subsidize ZMC Hotels, Inc. and Zenith Superior, LLC. If public subsidies are used, they should be of reasonable amounts and benefit the city. For example, other cities reasonably require that TIF financing does not exceed 5-10% of the market value of a new development and that at least one full-time job is created for every $40,000 in public assistance. In this case, public assistance will constitute over 30% of the projected market value of the hotel and the developer is required to create only 13 full-time jobs, as opposed to 37 full-time jobs that other cities would reasonably require. Further, deeding a public parking lot serving the Bong Museum to a private developer, displacing a public playground, subsidizing private development costs, and providing other cash incentives to the developer – all of these constitute misuse of public funds as well.

I am a professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at a Jesuit university in the US and have been traveling to Nicaragua with other professors and students since 1990. We are constantly reminded of the sorrows of the Mothers of the Heroes and Martyrs of the over 50,000 Nicaraguan sons and daughters killed by the illegal war. This war was not consistent with either U.S. or Christian values, and this invitation to North seems inconsistent with the regard with which the Franciscans have been held in Latin America.

The right to die, such as Oregon has, makes sense for all. Everybody dies, and the individual and their loved ones shouldn't suffer needlessly. Life is precious, and anyone who has seen the suffering of someone in a nursing home or the family of those who have continued to live in pain because of legal issues, may desire a kinder and more dignified option.

Drs and Pharmacies are loosing sight of why we need this controlled substance and are focusing more on the drug addicts. Because of some drug dealers and abusers, the ones that really need it are affected by this. It makes them go out and spend more money on the street than buying them legally. I feel if they make it hard on us. It's not going to change the abuse, and drug dealers are making more money and abusers are always going to be there no matter what. Give us the right to have a normal life.

If we give film companies incentives to use our beautiful state as their location, then we will be creating more jobs, and South Carolina will gain recognition as a great state. It will also bring in millions or billions of dollars in revenue.

The people of Swan Beach and Carova Beach do not want commercial development in our home neighborhoods. Spanish mustangs that roam this area are already endangered after living here for over 500 years. Commercial development will make their survival and our very way of life here impossible; it needs to be stopped.
