  • Putting professional security teams in schools
This petition is for the protection of or nations future, the youth. Since Columbine shooting in 2001 our government had failed miserably to deter in school shootings. Now that the Sandy Hook massacre has occur states are taking law enforcement off the streets and into the schools, leaving everything else vulnerable to attacks. What's worse is that police are trained to arrest. Now students are being charged with felonies for fighting in school which often happens. What I am proposing is that we use privatized armed security in schools as well as movie theaters as a deterrent to armed shooters. The shooters only attack places where firearms are not allowed and frankly president Obama you cannot take every him off of the street.

  • Let the People decide!
Last election the people of Richmond elected Gary Bell to lead them on our city council. Now, special interests are trying to force the appointment of their losing candidate to replace Mr. Bell who is unable to take his seat. Local media, civic leaders, and many residents all support a special election to ensure that democracy prevails.

  • Support for Massachusetts GMO Labeling Bills
Several states have tried to pass laws requiring GMO (genetically altered food and seeds) to be labeled for consumers purchasing food or seed for gardens. ALL of the state legislation has been defeated at the state levels by corporate food growers! WE Know this there will be a corporate backlash to these bills again, however, Massachusetts citizens will not be deterred this time. WE HAVE A CONSUMER RIGHT TO LABELING OF GMO PRODUCTS! The increase in learning disabilities, children on the Autusim Spectrum, depression in children over the past 15 years correlates with food changes made in the American food supply of GMO products, as as a variety of health problems in adults. Massachusetts Representative Ellen Story from Amherst has re-introduced 2 GMO Labeling bills. Massachusetts has 2 newly introduced bills: HD 133, An Act relative to the labeling of food. This bill would require that any food product exposed for sale in the Commonwealth that is genetically engineered, or derived from genetically engineered, be labeled as such. HD 134, An Act relative to the labeling of seed. This bill would require that any seed or agricultural products exposed for sale in the Commonwealth which have been genetically engineered, or derived from genetically engineered material, be labeled in a manner conforming with other existing labeling laws for wholesale and agricultural products.

  • Make Background Checks For Gun Purchases Mandatory for All Sellers
It is clear that while we cannot keep guns out of the hands of criminals completely, it is certain that we could make things more difficult for the criminal element if background checks were universal. These checks are non-invasive and done by law-abiding citizens daily.

  • National Holiday Celebrating American Athletics
The time has come and is in fact long past due for the Congress of the United States of America to set aside partisan bickering, partisan brinkmanship, and partisan animosities and to clearly demonstrate to the American people that Congress can work together, can get things done. The time has come, and without further delay, to establish a national holiday celebrating American Athletics, and what better day than the day following the most American of sporting events... The Super Bowl? Celebration of all sports, all ages...from Coach pitch to the World Series, from PeeWee football to the Super Bowl, from the Soap Box Derby to the Daytona 500, from Cornhole to the PGA. From grade school championships and participation to the Olympic games and professional championships. The time has come for Congress to step up, to do the right thing, to show the world that yes, we can get things done. The need is great, the purpose noble, and the time is now...for a national holiday celebrating American Athletics!

  • Make it Illegal to Gas Animals in Missouri
January 31Posted to Make it a National law to mak… by Inthename This is in regard to a method of sending large numbers of poor unwanted and often sick animals across The Bridge still widely used across our nation that is in fact nothing short of Animal Cruelty. This needs to be stopped. The animals suffer terribly on their way out of this hateful world. Before they pass, they suffer through on average 40 minutes of first steady anxiety as they're packed into the death cage one by one then outright fearfulness as they're then locked in... exploding into sheer terror as they're plunged into total blackness, erupting into violet fighting with one another- defecating and vomiting convulsively as they gasp desperately but in vain for air that's suddenly but permanently, mercilessly no longer there. Even some, honestly, I wonder if aren't scared to death in the process. This is totally wrong and against the laws of nature, so why not the laws of our states? This law should be directed at the shelters using this technique of punishment, which in fact it is, a punishment none of these innocent ones ever deserve. How can this type of torture be called "euthanasia"? Along with 30 other states, Missouri is still using this horrific method of execution. Please help us, the undersigned, in the fight against this all-too-widespread form of animal abuse through gassing by not just making it illegal to send animals to a dumpster by this process, but by making it illegal to even construct or own any such devices used to carry out such a terrible crime against nature and the innocent ones that trust us the most. Shameful. There is just no other word for it.

  • Use the housing rescue money, only $5 of $50 used in four years.
My home has lost 30% of it's pre bank caused housing bubble value. I am a virtual prisoner under house arrest. I cannot sell my house and pay off the bank loan at the same time. Banks working on behalf of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and other investors will not use forbearance to help me rebuild that equity. Servicers will simply delay, delay , and delay some more before they simply say no any help of any kind. But if are unlucky enough to fall behind on your payments, they will swarm on you and race to foreclose on your home.
