• North Carolina Police Officer Safety Act 2013
We need your help to change an outdated Administrative Code and general statues 20-125(b) that places police officers and the general public in grave danger, by not allowing them to properly respond to a life safety hazard. Currently company police officers (sworn law enforcement officers) are the only branch of law enforcement within North Carolina that cannot respond “Emergency (lights and sirens)” to an incident or officer in distress if the officer is located even one block outside their jurisdiction. Six (6) police officers died in North Carolina alone last year from line of duty deaths; please help us avoid the next tragedy.

  • Wisconsin Foie Gras Ban
Wisconsin is one of the many states that allows foie gras to be sold and bought in restaurant establishments, this cruel product has no use in our restaurants. Foie gras is made through a process of having a large metal pole being shoved down a helpless duck's neck. The ducks are often confined in cages and can't move. They are unable to fight back when they are being force fed, the sale of foie gras for human consumption violates the Poultry Products Inspection Act (PPIA) which states that they prohibit diseased, or "manipulated" meat from entering the food supply.

  • National Beirut Veteran Memorial
Several States and The U.S.M.C. have erected Monuments or Walls as memorials in honor of those; U. S. • Require GMO labeling
I have a young granddaughter and I'm concerned about the effect that genetically modified food could have on her health. If Monsanto, and other chemical companies who produce GMO's think that this foods is safe, why are they so reluctent to have GMO's labeled? Many scientist have raised concern about the long-term effect of GMO's on the organs of growing children. Not enough research has been done. At least let the consumer make the decision to as to whether to purchase food that's been genetically modified or not. We need labeling for GMO's just as for fat/sodium/calorie content.

  • Mr Truong Tan Sang, President of Vietnam: stop the brutal pig festival at Nem Thuong village!
President Obama and Congress, WE need to stand up and speak up as a country against animal cruelty, abuse and inhumane treatment. WE also need to lead by example with EMPATHY and COMPASSION. WE need to stand on the right side of history and use our VOICE to do the right thing for all animals on Earth. Every year, at a village near Hanoi, on the 6th day of the lunar new year, which this year is February 15, 2013 a pig is brutally chopped into two so that people can smear banknotes with its blood in the belief that it would bring luck.

  • REGULATE weapons of mass murder
Banning only new sales of assault weapons and large capacity magazines is meaningless. REGULATE ALL of them, Require registration of all, even those people currently own, assess owner's fitness, require payment of a fee, enforce registration law, and tax ALL sales at 200% of sale price. Provide buy back incentives and allow for donation to well-regulated shooting ranges that will secure the weapons.

  • Reckless endangerment to motorcycles
This petition is about making it illegal to dump/blow/mow leaves and grass clippings on roadways and highways. These leaves and grass clippings are slippery and could easily cause a motor vehicle (especially a motorcycle) to slip, skid, and lose control of the vehicle, causing bodily harm to the operator and passengers of the vehicle. The people who place these items on the roadways should be charged and fined for reckless endangerment and disregard of public safety.

  • Support Helmet Laws for Minors
In 2011 Iowa teen Caroline Found was killed in a moped accident. She was not wearing a helmet. Motor Vehicle deaths are the leading cause of death among Iowa teens. There is currently no law saying that minors must wear helmets when operating mopeds and scooters.

  • Hunting Dog Exemption from Animal Protection
Hunting dogs are being neglected, abandoned, starved and abused due to a loophole in the SC Animal Protection Law simply because they are hunting dogs. This is inhumane and goes against the intent of the original legislation. Why should a hunting dog be exposed to starvation, abuse and abandonment versus any other dog type or animal? The exemption needs to be eliminated and hunting dogs returned to the protection these laws were designed to provide.
