• Hunting Dog Exemption from Animal Protection
Hunting dogs are being neglected, abandoned, starved and abused due to a loophole in the SC Animal Protection Law simply because they are hunting dogs. This is inhumane and goes against the intent of the original legislation. Why should a hunting dog be exposed to starvation, abuse and abandonment versus any other dog type or animal? The exemption needs to be eliminated and hunting dogs returned to the protection these laws were designed to provide.

  • Putting professional security teams in schools
This petition is for the protection of or nations future, the youth. Since Columbine shooting in 2001 our government had failed miserably to deter in school shootings. Now that the Sandy Hook massacre has occur states are taking law enforcement off the streets and into the schools, leaving everything else vulnerable to attacks. What's worse is that police are trained to arrest. Now students are being charged with felonies for fighting in school which often happens. What I am proposing is that we use privatized armed security in schools as well as movie theaters as a deterrent to armed shooters. The shooters only attack places where firearms are not allowed and frankly president Obama you cannot take every him off of the street.

  • Let the People decide!
Last election the people of Richmond elected Gary Bell to lead them on our city council. Now, special interests are trying to force the appointment of their losing candidate to replace Mr. Bell who is unable to take his seat. Local media, civic leaders, and many residents all support a special election to ensure that democracy prevails.

  • Support for Massachusetts GMO Labeling Bills
Several states have tried to pass laws requiring GMO (genetically altered food and seeds) to be labeled for consumers purchasing food or seed for gardens. ALL of the state legislation has been defeated at the state levels by corporate food growers! WE Know this there will be a corporate backlash to these bills again, however, Massachusetts citizens will not be deterred this time. WE HAVE A CONSUMER RIGHT TO LABELING OF GMO PRODUCTS! The increase in learning disabilities, children on the Autusim Spectrum, depression in children over the past 15 years correlates with food changes made in the American food supply of GMO products, as as a variety of health problems in adults. Massachusetts Representative Ellen Story from Amherst has re-introduced 2 GMO Labeling bills. Massachusetts has 2 newly introduced bills: HD 133, An Act relative to the labeling of food. This bill would require that any food product exposed for sale in the Commonwealth that is genetically engineered, or derived from genetically engineered, be labeled as such. HD 134, An Act relative to the labeling of seed. This bill would require that any seed or agricultural products exposed for sale in the Commonwealth which have been genetically engineered, or derived from genetically engineered material, be labeled in a manner conforming with other existing labeling laws for wholesale and agricultural products.
